It’s been great to get so many comments on my last post!
I never imagined anyone would call me BRAVE!
(Taken this morning in our front yard!)
I don’t think of myself that way...and I don’t think my hubby or 4 sons would use that word to describe me either! We took the photos of the alligator at a State Park and there were LOTS of people around so it seemed like a normal Sunday afternoon! I was surprised at many of the comments and enjoyed each and every one of them! I even FEEL a little braver now! lol
This morning I took a quick trip to Walmart to buy some sewing supplies...yes, I’m still sewing! And when I returned an eagle was flying overhead!
Living in Florida means walking on the beach, seeing dolphins and manatees in the ocean, watching birds of every variety, enjoying oranges, lemons and limes right off the trees...AND going to the park and seeing alligators and other wildlife! It’s all part of the ‘real Florida’ and we love it!
(please excuse the long run on sentences in this post!)
A word that does describe me? READER!
I love books! And I’ve read 2 really good ones this week!
‘Mad Girls in Love’ by Michael Lee West
and ‘How High the Moon’ by Sandra Kring.
They both have characters you’ll never forget.
And I love this local magazine that you can view online ...

Have you read a good book lately? Or been called brave?
Enjoy your week and thanks again for all of the great comments! Sending you some 'warm Florida hugs’!

Oh thank you for telling me about Kring's new book. As you may (or may not) remember, I loved "The Book of Bright Ideas." I'll be looking for it! Yes, you are brave...not all of us would even want to do what you do scampering about taking pictures of alligators. Conditioning I suppose.
....beautiful rabbit,so sweet!
what wonderful photos,, we have eagles here too, only in witer do we see them,, they fish in open water on the frozen river out front of us.The last book I read was shanghia girls,,
I just read your last post about the alligators. Have you ever been to the Ding Darling Nature preserve on Sanibel? About 15 years ago we were there and there was a 16 foot long crocodile near the road! We were lucky to see it. We were back last year and the workers said the croc is only seen every few months. I just love Florida, the beaches and the wildllife.
How do you find time to read two books in a week, sew, blog and tackle alligators? You are amazing!
Love the Eagle shot!
How cool! The couple of times we've been to Florida, we've seen alligators just on the side of the road. I can't imagine!! Danger Danger. :)
I'm in awe that you caught the shot of the eagle. We have them here too but I never see them.
I just finished MAD GIRLS IN LOVE last week...it was so good. I've not read anything by Sandra Kring but will put her on my list to try. hugs, Linda
Hi there!
Seeing the gator brings back so many memories of Florida...I used to go fishing with my Dad on the St. Johns River---the River is full of Gators. On the day we put some of my Dad's ashes in his "honey hole" fishing spot, my brother, sister and I spotted 200 gators. I was happy to see your local Ocala magazine. My brother, sister and I actually own a lot in Ocala that is right on one of the spring fed lakes....Lake Owens. We used to set up camp there when I was in jr. high school and my dad would bring his boat. It is close to the Ocala National Forest which is so beautiful as you know. There are houses up and down the street our lot is on which is off Hwy. 40, and we are next to a log cabin. My parents had hoped to build a little cabin on the lot but never got to see the dream materialize. When my parents died, it went to my siblings and I. We are, sadly, thinking about selling it now. I don't get there much and my brother lives in Georgia now. We used to ski sometimes on the lake. Nice memories... I love it that your husband held up that sign for you. He sounds like a sweetie pie! Have a beautiful day! xoxo Kim
I just read the Twilight Series books. I know - they are suppose to be for teenagers but I really liked them!!!
Oh lucky you, in Florida. We just are having so much rain up here in the northeast. But we get down there quite frequently! Second home in Anna Maria. We had a manatee come up to our dock munching on the mangroves last week when we were there. Such gentle giants!
Just finished The Silent Land by Graham Joyce.
I see Marty came to visit with you, LOL! he's been making the rounds lately to a lot of my blogging friends, it seems! He would run and squeal if he saw that big alligator! hahaha, I'm proud of your bravery. You can out run them!
I haven't read Michael Lee West in a while. She was a favorite author, so I will check this book out. I discovered Kristin Hannah recently. I really enjoyed Magic Hour and Winter Garden. Will definitely read more of hers. My reading has suffered the last two busy months, so I am really looking forward to slower summer.
Well, I still think that you are brave. I love how you describe living in Florida. You make me want to get on a plane right now. Hope you have a beautiful day.
Karen
No ones been calling me brave lately, but because of the whole foot thing I'm hearing "klutz" quite a bit, lol.
Last weekend I finally read "Water For Elephants" and was so disappointed. I thought it seriously lacked character development and richness of detail in the story. I think they must have had the movie already in mind and just left out all that we love about books and what why we complain the movie is never as good. Saved myself the price of a ticket though!
Have a wonderful weekend in this wonderful weather!
Hugs
Hi Diane,
I have to go back and read your last post. But I can say from this one, you are adventurous for sure and accomplish alot.
The books sound good. I have read Roses, by Leila Meacham. It is her first novel and it was fantastic. I can't wait for more from this talented author. You might like it. Takes place in Texas.
Have a great weekend.
XO Celestina Marie
What a great shot of the eagle. I love all the wildlife we have here. The gators still fascinate me after living here nearly 20 years. Rumor has it we have a big cat roaming the neighborhood! I keep a camera in my car now.
Hello Diane! I love the eagle shot too. I fell in love with Florida the way you described it. It's just a piece of heaven on earth.
Since you love books, I will come up with a blog post where you will be able to get free books! :) Happy weekend!
I learnt something new about you today, in that you are a reader. Did you know I wonder that I write a Book Review Blog. So the answer to your questions is yes on both counts :)
