Crafting with Seashells

I see so many great ideas on the blogs I visit, but I spend so much time visitin’ that I don’t have time to craft! heehee! I finally made a garland with some shells I found that already had holes in them.

I love this baker’s rack in my lanai....

DSCN3920

I’m constantly changing it up.

DSCN3927

I just found this long basket at the thrift store.....

DSCN3921

not quite sure what to put in it yet.

And my girlfriend, Della gave a tutorial on making these candle holders out of cork coasters HERE .

DSCN3942

I used a hot glue gun to put the shells on and it worked great. (I didn’t have the glue that Della used but I need to get some!)

DSCN3944

I love pretty beachy things in my home here in Florida but it looks pretty in any home!

DSCN3930

These are definitely ‘favorite things’

so I’m joining Katherine’s Corner today!

Do you have seashells in your summer decor?

Oh yes seashells are so much fun to decorate and play with. I have a whole shelf in my studio dedicated to shells and mermaids!

Your garland is so cute. How clever. I have a girlfriend who loves the lake and has her bathroom decorated in things you would find on the beach and shore. I really should go over and snap a pic of it. You are like me in a way, I spend so much time checking out what everyone else is doing that I don't get much done to show anyone, lol.
Have a great weekend.
Susanne :)

I love the garland! I don't have sea shells in my decor but I made Kendra over at Stone House Primitives a basket for a swap .http://pendletonprimitives.blogspot.com/2012/06/beachy-bathroom-display-with-slight.html
I loved how to soap balls turned out with sea shells stuck in them.

Even though we live on a farm, I love the seashore and shells as well.. so I do incorporate them into the decor here and there, including outside in one of my perennial gardens. I like your garland!.. good work!

There you have a sea side inspired set...love it. Lanterns, candle with shell base...lovely flavor of see shells. Cute, sweet and seaside playful.

Your shells are wonderful. I love to have shells around all during the year. I even have one in my car.
One summer, we had a scavenger hunt at a work retreat. One of the items was a seashell.
I have kept one in my car ever since :)

I love seashells, too. I use them downstairs in our rec room...all our "beachy" stuff is down there. Perfect little coaster and cute as a button. xo Diana

Who doesn't love sea shells? Yours are lovely and I especially like the garland. I don't use sea shells in my decor...we aren't beach people although I love the water. You are lucky to live in Florida!

I love shells...had some on display from my trip to Florida many years ago, but my granddaughter wanted them for her beach theme bedroom. So of course, grandma let her have them to display in her room.
Love your candle coaster with the shells around it...so pretty!!

Diane, I love your baker's rack! Picture is so summery and relaxing... I do have sea shells in my not only summer decor: I have a square vase on the window, that has seashells and sand from Pacific and Atlantic oceans, and many places in between... :)

Lovely little shell garland. I picked up a shell while in Sri Lanka that had a hole in it and said I would make a necklace with it but haven't done that yet. Sure wish I could find my glue gun. I tucked it away with the glue sticks and still haven't found it yet. :/ I hate it when I think I'm being organized but in reality I'm very, very confused. Ha! Have a great weekend. Tammy

I have always been fascinated by the shapes, colors and designs of sea shells. We have lakes and rivers but no ocean. Lucky you! Folks around here pick up pretty river stones to bring home but they are not quite as special as a sea shell. Your vignette looks pretty and I like that you can change it to suit the holiday or season. The lanterns are nice and the rope looks so appropriate in the scene. Hope you and the hubby have a great weekend, dear friend!!-----

I do have a couple of seashells in my home, I think most people do! They were collected while on special trips and one napkin holder I have was given to me by my kids years ago when they went on a cruise to Honduras. Though seashells really don't fit into my decor scheme, the ones I do have are special to me and I show them off proudly.

Your collection definitely looks "beachy" and reminds me a lot of the ocean trips I've had. Very pretty.

Hugs,
Meri

I'm trying now! You're doing a great job! Too cute!

Diane, you crack me up. We once again have similar tastes and styles. The question was: do your children's friends buy you gifts, not your children, but their friends. Oh, well it doesn't matter. It was a silly questions or I was silly. Either way it's fun huh?

have a great weekend!

The garland looks great. Your post reminds me that I need to gather up small bits of driftwood for a Christmas project I hope to do in the fall. Much easier to find them nice and clean and dry now. Any reason to go to the beach these days!

I love this beachy baker's rack, Diane; it's just charming!! I love the colors, the sea shells, and the red ship's lantern. I've never seen one quite like this before.

It's so great that you have a home in Fletcher, NC!! I'm sure I've heard of the town before; I'm not sure if I've passed through it or not. I so enjoy finding other North Carolina bloggers. Thanks for your comments on my "Mountain Treasures" post, and I hope you have a great weekend. :)
