I can’t post Today…

Today is missing.

My ‘Thursday’ is gone…

it’s lost forever!

IMG_4860

I went to the thrift store TWICE and no one could find it!

IMG_4853

These brand new tea towels were at the old thrift store last week and it was even half price day so they were a great deal. They were folded neatly and were brand new. So I didn’t realize until I got home, Thursday was missing. I went back and asked in the back but no one had seen it.

IMG_4856

I looked at the tags and they said wash in cold and air dry with no heat so I followed the directions. But they still bled some. I thought at first I would cry because one was missing. And then I thought I might cry when the red bled onto the white. But then I realized I didn’t feel like a good cry and since it was Thursday I had the day off.

IMG_4858

So that’s the story of the day that ‘went missing’ (and perhaps the reason no work is getting done in my house today).

IMG_4859

My Dad always said,

“One excuse is as good as another.”

What do YOU think?

Is it Thursday at your house?

I love those little tea towels!! They are so cute and the red is wonderful. Don't worry about Thursday. :)

The owner must have washed Thursday and ruined it.....therefore no Thursday. I can't help but think of my undies when I was two. My mom bought me 7 pairs of the days of the week. I put them all on and nothing else. I walked down the busy road about a half block to the grain elevator. That's where all the farmers gathered to chat. Some called my mother and asked her if she was missing someone. Can you imagine. She came to get me in all my underwear with all the farmers. Funny huh.

Those tea towels are really cute - I think my Thursday is here, but I can't change the color on my post title back to that purple color....It's not supposed to be gray. I've tried everything but it's not working.Thursday can go away.lol

oh that's too bad, maybe you could make one!

It is and there's too much to do for Thursday to go missing. The towels are adorable. I've had colors run before and usually the color that goes where it doesn't belong will wash out again. Have a good day~

Too Funny! Sweet little hand towels!

I've forgotten what work is in order for Thursdays...
They are cute anyway, Diane.
This just means Thursdays a 'free for all' day! do whatever your heart desires.

Hey Diane! I hope you find your Thursday. I've heard of something sold at quilt stores that helps wash out fugitive dyes. You might want to call your local store and see if they have it. Also, there's a product (generally sold at Publix and I can't remember the name) that, if you add it to the wash, will absorb some or most of the get-away color before it bleeds onto something else. About 15 years ago, when there was a government mandate of some kind involving dyes, the new red dye formulas were not stable. Caused a ton of problems for needlework people! Thank goodness that problem seems to have mostly disappeared. Have a gorgeous and not-too-hot day!

Haha. Well, there are so many possibilities! From personal experience, I'd say that the previous owner had boys and one of them washed his muddy shoes with it and tossed it. That's just as good an explanation as any, don't you think? lol What CUTE towels. We are having Thursday here. You can come visit my Thursday. :-)

Oh dear. How frazzling. All is not lost with the red on the white...I often use a color grabber in my laundry found on most grocery store shelves.

Too bad! Yes, it's Thursday here, but I'm not 100% sure since Monday was a holiday. I'm still a day off. Maybe the former towel owner took my advice and tried to take it easy on Thursdays-- one too many days in the week; I would like to skip over it and jump to Friday!

Those are so sweet even with the dye bleed. xoxo I love the quilt!

I think the previous owner washed Thursday and cried just like the dye! Think it got thrown away for that reason. You did want pink towels anyway, didn't you? Linda@Wetcreek Blog

Hi Diane, I love the tea towels and it's ok that there is no Thursday and they got stained a little bit but they are still look cute. I'm just getting over being sick for 3 days. I had a temperature of 100 and at one point on Tuesday it was up to 103. So I'm going to try and take it easy today too.

It seems to be "Thursday" every day at my house anymore. LOL When I get any kind of linens that have red in them, I soak them in vinegar and water before I ever wash them. It supposedly sets the color. I still have had some fade but not nearly as often. Cute tea towels tho.

Cute post. I think it's Thursday here. I have lots of Thursday things to do. Love those embroidered tea towels. I had a set given to me as a young bride. I think I have one left that I saved. Now I wish I'd saved them all.

Cute post! Sometimes when I have had something bleed like that the white, I have found that Shout or Spray-n-Wash might take the stain part out. Good luck...the little towels are adorable!

Cute towels!! I wonder if they ended up at the thrift store because Thursday got messed up and is now missing. I would keep looking at the thrift shop every time you go...it just might show up one day. I got a quilt at our local thrift shop and it only had one pillow sham, but a week or two later the other one showed up there.
hugs,
Cindy

You need to buy some "Shout Color Catcher" to throw in the wash when you have something that might bleed. Will pull the color out of the wash water. WalMart usually sells them! Love you! Oh, if Thrusday is missing...you can always make you one, silly girl!

sweetbriardreams said...

Well, all you have to think of is that Thursday is 'rest day' and the fact that you don't have Thursday is fate :-) The tea towels are beautifully simple, a shame that the colour is bleeding. Have a wonderful Friday!! xx

Cheryl @ TFD said...

They are cute towels even if Thursday did a disappearing act. Hope you find a product to take the dye out, but they are still cute one way or the other!

Sweet find, even of you didn't get the whole set? Do you use salt to help with running colors?

Lauren @ My Wonderfully Made said...

Now you are a creative, sewing lady so get going and create a Thursday! I think the 'bleeds' give them an even more vintage look.

So sorry your Thursday is missing... You could visit a Quilt Shop and buy some Synthrapol to take out the color which has bled. Follow directions carefully and do not get it on your skin, it's very concentrated... You just use a very little bit in the water.. it might work for you..

Your tea towels are so adorable, I can see why you are looking for Thursday. My guess is someone washed Thursday. Maybe they are only for "looks." My mom used to say that when we weren't going to use or touch something -- "just for looks." Cute post!

Great post - love it. A missing towel is as good an excuse for a day off as any!

I'm so sad you lost your Thursday :( Don't worry--they'll be another one next week :) Your towels are so cute. I recently bought the iron on transfers to embroider with the days of the week from Walmart onto towels. Have a happy weekend! Maggie

That is too cute! Thursday is missing. I love the tea towels. Now you can have every Thursday off! Well, at least from drying dishes. :)

When I worked, I used to comment to my husband, "it's already Thursday". The weeks went so quickly. Now I enjoy Thursday because I rarely have any big plans on Thursday and I cn relax in the garden.

I loved your horse farm photos. If asked to guess the location, I would never have guessed Florida.

How precious are those? Next time try soaking them in vinegar first as that "sets" the color and then they have those sheets by Tide or someone that will absorb any loose dye if you throw a sheet in with the wash. I dye wool and after i dye the pieces I always use vinegar to set the color. They're still darling though and what a pretty quilt you have them laying on.
