Part of my ‘Living in Luxury’ Series

Oh, you didn’t know I HAD a ‘Living in Luxury’ series? Well, I didn’t either but I do like the sound of it, don’t you? And I think we can have luxury in our homes without spending a lot.

This quilted pillow sham was on the back of the washer when I took pics of my thrift finds HERE. I soaked it and then washed it in my regular detergent. I put a half cup of vinegar in the rinse, too. It came out so clean and fresh.

I have a ‘few’ extra pillows. I think it’s so nice to have them to prop up on or take an afternoon nap without messing up the bed. I’m not a nap taker but ‘never say never’. I always feel like I’ll miss out on something if I sleep during the day.

IMG_3857

I don’t keep these on my bed. I keep them on the chair or put them next to the sofa in the lanai to be handy.

(And if you think my bed is unmade….you would be right! I took these photos before I made it.)

I got all three of the shams at the thrift store for a dollar apiece and I love them all.

And having extra pillows, brand new, covered with freshly laundered pillow shams gives me a feeling of luxury.

Another photo, with my bed made! lol

Do you have some special touches of luxury in your home? We could have a ‘living in luxury’ club! Red rose

Hmm... if you had a "lack of luxury" club, maybe I could join that! Your pillows are pretty!

I like all those nice pillows. I call my cappuccino mixes luxury...would that count? I have a fancy quilt that I have never put out. Ted's mother made it. I will launder thrift store finds a bit longer and dry hotter.:):) Hope you are having a good weekend. xoxo,Susie

Love your pillow shams; but not much luxury living here! LOL

Your bedroom is so pretty! I love that the chair faces the window and the beautiful view. You are so smart to grab those shams when you find them. They are pretty and so expensive at department stores.

Good Afternoon Diane, My word, you find some lovely thrift items. Looking at the photograph, with the sun shining and the beautiful green lawn, do you know, although I am not a nap taker, I really think I could be tempted.
Best Wishes to you.

Love those shams. I have a thing for quilted "anything" and that one with purple would work in my guest room too. Very luxurious to have space for your comfy chair. And, as Stacey said, love your furniture placement! I'm always on the lookout for little luxuries. What's that saying (probably paraphrasing), "I'd rather have a little bit of something wonderful than a whole lot of nothing special." Your whole room is wonderful!

Hi,
I spend a lot of time at the thrift, and do see the shams, and like yours, some are really nice. Maybe I better stop passing them up. An extra god washing and you have something really pretty and useful. Thanks for the idea.

All of your pillow shams are so pretty. I never thought about buying single ones and mixing and matching or using them in the family room. That's a great idea. I often find just one in a clearance bin. I may start getting some of them now. Some of my "luxury" bedding is pretty colored pillow cases I found at Ross for really cheap and added vintage crochet lace to the edges. Every time I use them it makes me feel really good. :-)

You are really a treasure finder. Old vintage fabrics hold up so well. I got my treasures today, I may do something special with the white napkins. Love the potholder. I also make my own. Napkins will be well used. Thanks so much. We'll have to do this again.

Your pillow shams are charming, Diane, and I love the purple colors in them. Your bedroom looks so nice. I just bought an extra pillow for the bed too, and husband loves it. Yes, it's the little things we do for our homes that let us live in luxury.

Have a peaceful Sunday.

love,

Very nice shams. I sometimes buy them to cut up for tea cozies. I''m looking for the luxury right now and not seeing it. Oh well! It's cozy.

What a great deal and so pretty too! I'm like you, I always feel like I'm going to miss something if I nap in the middle of the day...I just can't bring myself to do it, lol.

A quilted sham on a pillow is very comforting and pretty as yours are.

Living in luxury could be a great linky party. Just saying.
For me, old damask linen napkins found at thrift stores are little touches of luxury. I have a pile of them on my china hutch - love the textures. Some are silky soft after years of wear, others look like they were barely used.

Great finds on your pillow shams! I love the aqua one, that's one of my favorite colors.

LOL you just CRACK ME UP! Imagine showing an unmade bed / real life / in blogland :)

The more unreality I see in blogland, the more I appreciate and gravitate towards the reality

Good evening Diane, I love your new pillow shams and wow what a great buy! You always find the nicest things. Yes you can feel like you are living in luxury and not spend a lot of money!

According to Steve, we have way too many pillows on the bed - 7 in total. I like the luxury of a down quilt at the foot of the bed to pull onto me if I feel a little chilly.

You pillow shams are gorgeous.

Judith @ Lavender Cottage said...

Good deal on the sham, especially the ones with purple!
I think once one retires, it's the life of luxury. It gives me great pleasure to decide if I will do anything on any given day. :-)

Love your pillow shams!! I picked up 2 shams and a queen size quilt at our local thrift store. Was thrilled when the price was only $9.00 for all of it.

Nice pillows! I also like buying stuff in thrift shops but I haven't bought linens and pillow cases. You can really find a lot of nice stuff in thrift stores.

I'm smiling at your living in luxury series. I'm imagining all sorts of fun things in this series. Cheers!

You are one thrifty lady. To add to your luxury life, you have to take up napping (power naps are actually quite valuable - in addition to be luxurious - because you will have more energy and mental focus to do more things.) It would be fun if you start a "living in luxury" club. I would join. I think we all should live in luxury (doesn't mean it has to cost a lot, as you have demonstrated).

I think a Living in Luxury series would be great ... and you would be the perfect hostess ;) Your bedroom looks so peaceful, and what a pretty view out the window. I love quilted items, and your pillow shams look like they were worth every penny you spent on them. Wendy x

Hi there name mate! Sorry for the late visit. It's almost Sunday again hahaha

I also love quilted pillows. I love embracing them after a long day at work. I have admired your room many times. The headboard and the back view is amazing. Perfect scenery to end and start the day. I also notice a little teddy bear there ;) May I know his / her name? :)

Hope you are having a great week!
