Things that make you feel better when you are sick…

Lots of well wishes and prayers help!

Thank you all!

(my soft fleece throw and a new bottle of cough syrup)

And a special thanks to Lorrie from Fabric Paper Thread who took the time to explain about her ‘rice bag’. She’s been sick too and mentioned having one. So I wrote and asked her what it was and if I needed one. After hubby went to the store for groceries (and a 2# bag of rice) I made one.

IMG_2642

I made the rice bag out of cotton fabric and then made a cover out of soft flannel.

IMG_2643

I kept enough rice out to make 2 packets with essential oils, one peppermint and one lavender.

IMG_2639

After a hot bath and a small dose of cough syrup, I heated the rice bag in the microwave with a cup of water for 2 1/2 minutes. Then I jumped fell into bed and put it on my chest. It warmed me and calmed my cough. I had the best night’s sleep in almost 2 weeks! Thank you so much Lorrie.

It always amazes me how many times I’ve been helped by another blogger. I’m so thankful for each and every one of you.

So I think I’ve sunk to a new low in my Mosaic this week. But at least I managed a post. I feel a little better every day. I hope all of you are well and warm and safe from the latest winter storm.

Sick

I’m joining Beautiful Sunday and

Lavender Cottage for Mosaic Monday.

Have a wonderful day!

Good Afternoon Diane, I am sorry I have not been around to leave comments for a while, but life here has been very busy with one thing and another.
I was so sorry to hear that you are unwell. I really do hope you feel better soon and that you are up and about.
Take care.

I am going to make some rice bags too Diane. Our Mothers of Preschoolers group made some using socks and donated them to our local Hospice. Yours are much prettier with the flannel lining. Hoping today brings you some relief from your aches and coughs.

Oh Diane I have been thinking about you all week. I'm so glad that you are feeling a little bit better. Take care of yourself and rest. Don't forget Downton tonight. I'm sad because it's the last one and I'll miss it. I wish the season didn't go so fast. Take care.

Hurry and feel healthy again. That teddy throw should do the trick. Tell Wendy that she is a great private duty nurse.

Oh Diane, I'm so sorry you are sick. I'm sending you a warm cyber hug and wishes that you feel better soon.

I LOVE rice bags and have used them for years. We call them "hot socks." Each of us has our own. They are great for headaches, body aches, stomach cramps, period cramps and just to warm you up in bed on a cold night.

Feel better sweet friend. xoxo

I love my rice bags and have made them in all sorts of shapes. The grandkids had a sleepover last weekend and I put them in the beds for them and they loved them.

Glad to hear that you are feeling better, Diane. Interesting information about the rice bag. I bought one at a craft fair years ago. I think it is shaped to go around the back of your neck. I never thought to use it in this way. You're so right about the bloggers being a wealth of information and always willing to help one another out.
Take care.

Hope you are feeling better! I have been sick for 2 days! I just said last week that I went through the winter without even a sniffle, I spoke too soon!

Oh Diane, I'm glad you are starting to feel better. Adding essential oils to the rice bag is such a great idea. I'm going to do that! Glad that it helped comfort you. I love mine!

Still a bit sniffly here, but definitely on the mend. Here's hoping this will be the week you kick your cold/flu to the curb!

I'm so glad you are beginning to feel better. I love my rice bag - sometimes I use it to warm my feet too if they are too chilly. Love the collage - guess I never saw one for being sick but it is great.

Where did you get that "collection" of essential oils? It looks wonderful...did it cost and arm and a leg?
The rice bag sounds awesome especially with that soft flannel and the tea looks great too even if you're not sick. So glad you got some rest!

I hope you are feeling much better. I have a wheat bag (same idea) that I heat up sometimes in the winter and put it down inside my bed to keep my feet warm.
Stay warm and rest and have a peaceful week.

You and I were sick at the same time. I think I'm almost done with it...maybe! :-) I used to make everyone in my family buckwheat bags to heat in the microwave and use on sore muscles. Your rice bag looks great and would be a help with breathing with the essences added.

I'm so glad you're feeling better Diane. The rice bag sounds like an interesting thing to make. I have something similar I purchased that came with lavender essential oil in it but I don't thing it's rice inside.
Hopefully it has warmed up in Florida, gee the last 3 days were cool and rainy for us on the gulf.
I'm back to the snow coming down but I don't mind because spring is coming!
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday.

I had never heard of using rice bags this way. I must make some, Mr G gets stubborn coughs at times. What a great idea to add the oils.
Off to read up on it.
Glad you're feeling better.

Sorry to hear you've been so poorly Diane, although I also read that by now you're up and about. I like this idea with the heated rice bag, and am glad it gave you some comfort. The cute 'hello kitties' would make you happiest of all I'm sure ;)

Diane,
Rice packs solve everything! I use mine every day! I actually have two that are the size of small blankets. I have to roll them up so they fit in the microwave. So glad you were able to find a way to feel better!
