Oh how I love to photograph old buildings like this one with so much character.
And being able to research the history online is wonderful!

INVERNESS – If wall could speak, then perhaps the shroud of mystery surrounding the Colonial Hotel in downtown Inverness would be unveiled to reveal the true age and origin on one of the county’s oldest and least-understood landmarks.
There are no registered blueprints for the aged wooden structure. County records trail off near the turn of the century, after chronicling a half-dozen ownership changes. Some people who bought the hotel kept it for nearly 60 years, others sold it after 11 months.”
“The Crown Hotel has a long and time-honored history in Inverness. Originally called the Orange Hotel, the building was constructed in the early 1920s, according to Inverness city clerk Marilyn Jordan.”
I could spend hours on this blog learning about the old Crown Hotel. Now it is an Assisted Living Facility.

The Old Crown Hotel is a great looking building with an amazing history, I imagine the residents very much enjoy spending their retirement there.

A very charming building. I can imagine people visiting there long ago, dressing for dinner, then dining in what I imagine to be the dining room behind all those windows.You found a real jewel here.

I love old historic places no matter where they are. Interesting....I wonder if there are any "ghosts" as some people sold it after only 11 months? And Halloween is coming!!!! LOL!

the Grand Hotel in the movie, Somewhere in Time, is the hotel of my dreams.

Diane, the Crown Hotel looks magnificent! It is so grand. How nice that it is now an assisted living residence. I could see myself retiring there!

What a grand building. It has been well preserved. Sadly, so many of those old building fall into disrepair with neglect and then are lost.

This is a wonderful old building - they built things with such style in the 20's. So glad it is still being loved and cared for with a lovely purpose. The windows are amazing :) xx K

We used to live in Florida so I will google to see where this is. It is a beautiful building, that is for sure. I am glad that they didn't tear it down but turned it to a place for assisted living. Wonderful!
