Oh how I love to photograph old buildings like this one with so much character.
And being able to research the history online is wonderful!
I even found a blog HERE with photos and lots of information. I thought this was interesting…
“Hotel's Origins A Mystery
By Jorge Sanchez
Citrus County Bureau
INVERNESS – If wall could speak, then perhaps the shroud of mystery surrounding the Colonial Hotel in downtown Inverness would be unveiled to reveal the true age and origin on one of the county’s oldest and least-understood landmarks.
There are no registered blueprints for the aged wooden structure. County records trail off near the turn of the century, after chronicling a half-dozen ownership changes. Some people who bought the hotel kept it for nearly 60 years, others sold it after 11 months.”
“The Crown Hotel has a long and time-honored history in Inverness. Originally called the Orange Hotel, the building was constructed in the early 1920s, according to Inverness city clerk Marilyn Jordan.”
I could spend hours on this blog learning about the old Crown Hotel. Now it is an Assisted Living Facility.
I’m joining Monday Social HERE

Diane, I love that the hotel is being use for a great purpose. It looks so pretty, all clean . My old grade school was turned into a very nice church.....but it still has a school smell in one wing.:):) Blessings for a fun new week. xoxo, Susie
Hello, it is a beautiful old hotel. The original name seems odd. Is it still a hotel? Thanks for sharing the info. Great photos. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week ahead!
The Old Crown Hotel is a great looking building with an amazing history, I imagine the residents very much enjoy spending their retirement there.
Happy Mosaic Monday.
Such an interesting old hotel. Love the mosaics. Hope your week is a good one!
That is an interesting and beautiful old building. I'm glad it's being used.
Thanks for the "history" of this grand old hotel.
Oh my, what a lovely and charming place, my friend! There is so much character in the building.
Wishing you a wonderful week. Hugs!
A very charming building. I can imagine people visiting there long ago, dressing for dinner, then dining in what I imagine to be the dining room behind all those windows. You found a real jewel here.
I love any kind of mystery. Beautiful building. xo Laura
I love old historic places no matter where they are. Interesting....I wonder if there are any "ghosts" as some people sold it after only 11 months? And Halloween is coming!!!! LOL!
I love these olden, historic hotels and would lOVE to stay in one...
the Grand Hotel in the movie, Somewhere in Time, is the hotel of my dreams.
This one is so pretty, too.
Diane, the Crown Hotel looks magnificent! It is so grand. How nice that it is now an assisted living residence. I could see myself retiring there!

What a pretty building - and a wonderful way for it to spend it "senior" years - just delightful. You find the best things my friend.
I love beautiful buildings like this...and now a new purpose! Lovely
Thank you so much you are showing me this old building! Very nice and interesting. Is it a building made of wood? We haven't such hotels :-)
What a grand building. It has been well preserved. Sadly, so many of those old building fall into disrepair with neglect and then are lost.
It's a very beautiful building ♥

This is a wonderful old building - they built things with such style in the 20's. So glad it is still being loved and cared for with a lovely purpose. The windows are amazing :) xx K
Isn't it great to have a whole library on our laps! I would definitely have wanted to research this beautiful building ....thanks for doing it for us! And for the pretty photos.... I hope it is as nice inside as out.
What a wonderful looking building.
I'm sure the 'seniors' who live there now appreciate it to
All the best Jan
That is indeed a beautiful and majestic building.
Diane,
An assisted living site is such a good use for a historic hotel. Thank you for sharing its photos and some of its history at Monday Social.

Isn't it nice to see an old building repurposed for a good cause!
Diane, I love old buildings with character. This is such a beauty! I had never heard of Inverness, Florida. I always learn something when I visit your blog!
Some of the old hotels are so rich in history. Those trees are so different, and pretty. Great pics, Diane.

What a treat, an old hotel with history...a perfect set for the movie. I visited the blog to read more about it. So happy to see it has been transformed into assisted living. Thanks for sharing this interesting place and for your sweet comment on my blog. I appreciate your kind compliment.
What a beautiful building. It's nice to see some older places being revitalized rather than replaced completely. I'll bet some of the residents have memories of the place when it was a hotel. Were you checking out rooms Diane? ;)
