Fun At the Park…Sholom Park!

I spent Sunday afternoon at Sholom Park with a few hundred kids!

Well…kids, parents, grandparents and those young at heart!

And it was

SO much fun!

Jack Hartmann was there getting us all on our feet, singing and dancing! He even made the ABC song FUN! I have never smiled so much! Usually after a couple of hours at the Park, my feet are tired! On Sunday my smile was tired! You couldn’t help getting caught up in the excitement! I even did the patty cake song with a lady standing next to me. (If that sounds silly…believe me…EVERYONE was playing!)

We had gorgeous weather too! Bright sun with 73 degrees as our high. What a wonderful turnout!

The Green Heron times three!

We had never seen a Green Heron in the wild here in Florida until a couple of weeks ago. (well, not that we could positively identify )

First we saw one at Homosassa Wildlife Park but it was not ‘in the wild’ there.

A few days later we hiked at Blue Run Park and got the thrill of a lifetime!

There was a Green Heron in the swamp.

One that didn’t mind posing for us.

Well, maybe he was even a bit of a ham!

Then lo and behold, we saw one at Rainbow Springs State Park IN THE WILD!

Isn’t that funny how we finally saw one…

then two…

then three!

I guess that’s our lucky number now!

Rainbow Springs State Park “Azaleas in Full Bloom”

February is the best time to visit Rainbow Springs.

The weather is gorgeous in February and the Azaleas are in full bloom.

We were surprised to see many of the Camelias were still blooming too!

We walked and walked.

And I kept taking photos of the view of the Springs.

(and YES, there were several people swimming)

Hubby took most of the flower close ups with his little Nikon P300.

A wonderful hike!

“Flamingos” Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder!

I took one of the best photos I think I’ve ever taken.

This is IT!

I thought about doing a post with just ONE photo!

But then what would I do with all the rest?

Waste them?

And then I had another thought.

There are a lot of beautiful birds.

Mrs. Buzzard asked Mr. Buzzard if he thought she was the most beautiful bird.

And look what he said!

Thankful Thursday Hike!

Did you keep your hiking shoes handy?

We’re going to Rainbow Springs State Park today!

And if you live anywhere near this park, you should plan a visit this month!

It is GORGEOUS!

 

We’ve never seen the Azaleas with so many blooms!

And the Camelias are still blooming too!

I kept seeing fences as we walked so today I’ll try to stick to those photos.
