Thrifty Buys!

I haven't shopped at the thrift stores much lately. I've actually donated more than I've bought this year. But it's always fun to peek inside the Hospice Thrift Store when you take a donation. And I hit the jackpot this week! Half price day!!! (everything over $3 was half off plus I get 15 % off for taking my blue reusable Hospice shopping bag)

I found the cutest little sand bucket, filled with sand and seashells. It was less than $2 and the big beautiful shell on top was worth more than that! Cute little salt and pepper shakers, 2 for $1, and a beautiful sugar bowl with the lid for $2.50!!!

I thought I had found something great for hubby when I bought Indiana Jones but guess what? It's 'bonus material' NOT the movie! Oh well! We'll enjoy watching it.

And what's my colorful background? A Queen size comforter, in perfect shape. I've already washed it and I'm going to put it on the back of the sofa in the lanai when it's completely dry. (I didn't want to over dry it in the dryer)

I used the comforter photo for my background in these mosaics. It's cheerful, don't you think?

Oh and if that's not enough fun...

I stopped at the library and found these two books in the lobby 'books for sale', $1 each!!!

I told you I hit the jackpot! I spent $14.04 total for the DAY!!!

Have you thrift shopped lately?

I’m joining Thankful Thursdays.

You lucky thing. I used to go to thrift stores but haven't in a long time. I think I should stop in soon. They moved the Goodwill store just two blocks from me!!

Great finds, Diane. I do enjoy going into thrift shops. It's so much fun to find a treasure such as your sugar bowl. I have an obsession with old dishes and would have grabbed that up in a minute. ♥

Oh Diane,

I try to stay out of them...because I can't resist. We downsized three yrs ago and got rid of boat loads of stuff. Yes, even in a smaller space we have empty closets and drawers. I promised myself I would not let things creep back in. I like your terrific finds though...and would love to got shopping with you ...but with my hands tied behind my back. have a wonderful weekend....hmm I am headed to the beach next week and could use that bucket.

Oh my - what a lovely haul you made today - I adore those little salt and pepper shakers - I'd never seen any like them before. And I do love a good bargain. Last weekend was the first weekend that it has been almost decent weather for yard sales and we really hit the jackpot. A set of brown transferware dishes for 10.00, a Madame Alexander doll for 3.00 (she needed a new wig and it came in the mail today - she is now a ginger), 3 smaller sister dolls, 4 vintage tablecloths for 6.00 each, in perfect condition, a tulip spoon rest and an owl spoon rest for the autumn, four clear glass daffodil shaped dessert dishes and I'm sure there was more - it was such a fun day. I fear I spent a bit more than your 14.04 - but I did have a grand time. Enjoy your pretties my sweet friend.

I absolutely love it when I get some good buys like you did. All the lamps in my house came from the Goodwill and I didn't pay more than #5. for any of them. I painted them and they fit right into my décor.
Oh yes, and I love your comforter. It is so bright, light and cheerful. You really hit the jackpot this time!
