I love every step I take when making an Altered Book or Junk Journal.
It’s fun to daydream and design the cover.
And then to choose pretty paper and junk paper to use for the pages.
Then of course I love to be creative with each page…
adding special elements to make them all different.
And then it’s time to ‘embellish’! Putting tags and cards here and there, gluing and tucking them in place.
I want to give credit to some of the talented people that encourage me!
Stephanie from The Enchanting Rose sent me one of her pocket cards filled with tags and pretties from her shop here.
My sweet cousin, Cindy sent me stamps and paper and all kinds of crafting supplies this year for my birthday. Girlfriend Danice from Homespun Hannah’s Blog sent me the most beautiful handmade journal covers.
And my oldest son even slipped some stickers in my birthday card!
I’ve printed images from the internet but I’ve also bought some pretty embellishments from Camillia’s Paper Craft HERE and from My Scrap Cabin Shop HERE. It’s fun to have lots of goodies to choose from. I started off this ‘hobby’ thinking I could use all the things I already had but of course I discovered right away that I need want more! lol
Do you have any new crafting or sewing projects to work on this month?
Follow your heart!
I’m joining Mosaic Monday HERE .

You are very creative Diane. ( Remember me, I just copy other people!!) I love hand made journals, they remind me of a time long ago and far away. Whenever I receive a hand made card, it is one that immediately goes into the keep pile of my mementos.
Beautiful, Diane. This looks like a lot of fun - both to make and to use.

they really are beautiful and hours of fun and creative joy for making them. i like the follow your heart. I am sending this to a crafting friend, she will love it.
Oh, I like this. I'm the crafting friend that Sandra sent over. Now I want to make one. As if I don't have enough ideas bouncing around in my head already...lol But first I need to spend some time browsing around your blog
Like you I love to play with paper and glue, I have made journals in the past but these days I'm more into scrap booking single pages. Your journal is full of the sort of elements that I like to use and don't forget there's no such thing as too much stash!
Happy Mosaic Monday.
I love seeing your junk journals. So pretty. Cutting and pasting is fun! I've been working on a "miscellaneous" journal ... a little of everything -- not as pretty as yours. Happy Monday!
such a satisfying craft, they are beautiful and I see they are endless with possibilities, changing with your mood where ever the whim takes you!
I love this inspiration...there is such a personal art to each page..thank you for sharing today!
So pretty!! A great way to use up all of the 'scraps', bits and pieces we accumulate from other projects. I'm actually doing a TON of yeast bread things since I got a KitchenAid for Christmas haha!
Oh- How sweet! I have never done that sort of art project but I love yours!!!! I have a couple of projects that I would like to get at but don't know if that is going to happen anytime soon. I have way too much going on! xo Diana
Diane, Treasures galore !!! I love the things you have shown. I made a wee book once at the Horton's Spring Market. I should show it on my blog one day. I can not wait to see each book you will make. How sweet that family and friends sent nice little gifts in their mailings to you. Love that. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
You do such beautiful work, Diane! I completely understand the enjoyment of dreaming up the cover and pages. So many fun goodies you have there. Thanks so much for linking up my shop!
Hello, your journals are pretty. You are very creative. It is nice so many friends and your son sent you these pretties to add to your journals. Happy Monday, enjoy your day!
You do the most amazing job on these altered books. I love craft supplies and they are hard to resist! Keep on Sis, it's a great craft for you!
Your creative journals are adorable . . . treasures to behold:)
So interesting and so creative! No, I'm not much of a crafter. Sigh.
Do you actually write in the journals? They are so pretty on their own...
I'm trying to be more creative and have been enjoying it. :)
You’re doing lovely work. I can tell that you enjoy it.
Diane those are just beautiful! I love them! How did you get started making these? You do a great job, you are so creative. How many have you made so far? How is your week going? Mine not well, I will email you ok. Please keep us in prayer, thank you my friend
I'm making a few tag journals for Valentine's Day!
BTW You are very good at making these junk journals. You need to pick-up a copy of Art Journaling Magazine. They've been featuring unique journals more lately.
How pretty, Diane! You have been extrermely productive. Lots of beautiful supplies, too. I kind of stopped making journals when I realized I didn't use them much or had run out of friends who wanted them but seeing something like this inspires me!
Good morning, sweet Diane! My oh my, what loveliness you have shared with us! I just love all of the paper pretties!
Have a beautiful day, my friend! Love and hugs!

Sigh. I love to make altered books (What I call them). But haven't in a long time. Your pages are beautifully creative!
Crafting is such a wonderful thing to do. You put a part of yourself into each item. I love all of your books and the thought of making a junk journal. How cool is that! I'm working on a bunch of knitting projects right now. Hopefully I will branch out into something else soon. I have some cross-stitch I want to do.
Diane - thank you for your sweet comments on my blog this week - at the risk of creating a mutual admiration society - YOU inspire me! I am going to catch up on a little more blogging, and then get to work on my tea towel project. And by the way, I wasn't the least bit surprised to see that you included the word GIGGLE on one of your pages!!!
I'm loving your book already Diane!
Your blog header would make a stunning cover on one of your books.
I've already created one about Alice and I totally enjoyed the journey!
Hugs to you,
Suzy
It's always fun to create something pretty and I can tell that you really enjoy your altered books. They are beautiful! How great to use stuff from various people and places. I'm hoping to start some sewing projects in February, and finish them, too!
Que lindos cartões!
Abraços.
I can’t get over how beautiful these are! You are so talented.
Oh, so pretty, Diane! These remind me of vintage Victorian scrapbooks. They must be so fun to put together - so many darling images. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Hugs xo Karen
Definitely not a junk journal! If that's junk, bring it on!! I love looking at your handiwork!
Gina
PS I'm back blogging xo

I love art! I've kept 3/5 card art diaries on a spiral bound 3x5 cards. (pretend that scentence makes be tter sense please hahah) I decorate the top blank card and write on the other lined card underneath. I like bits and pieces of photos and clip art and quotes too. I like to reduce the size of some photos and print them off on one sheet of pc paper....they then measure about one and a half " sweet memories, sweet fun. sending a hug...hope your day is sunny and bright!
I have a whole folder on Pinterest devoted to these gorgeous journals and I have yet to make a single one. Im knee deep in Prims right now, trying to figure out what to buy and how to make the little ornies for the one bowl I have bought so far. I can't seem to concentrate on one single hobby just yet, but I do love your journal pages. Just gorg! Have a great weekend!
Your altered journals look very pretty, Diane, and it looks like a nice hobby to make them. At one time I made cards with rubber stamps but I haven't done that in a long time. I keep thinking that one day I'll take out those stamps to use with my granddaughters when they are older. They play with children stamp sets now and enjoy them. Maybe we will make journals together? I should start to collect some pretty papers!
Hi sweet Diane, I've missed visiting your blog and enjoying all your beautiful pictures and fences. I see that you have not been idle. Love your beautiful junk journal and so fun I bet to create. Loving your new blog header, beautiful. Wishing you and your family the very best for the this new year.
Sending blessings,
Marlene
