Do you want to see something really really cute?
It was a rainy day and we walked by the big window in our living room and looked out into our courtyard and saw THIS!
At first glance we thought it was a baby duck!
But it’s a baby Great Crested Flycatcher.
We have little cubbies under our mailboxes and I had seen some babies a couple of weeks before.
And the adult was on the mailbox when I walked by another time.
Then I saw one in a tree keeping an eye on the nest!
But this little one just wandered into the courtyard on a rainy afternoon….
confused and slightly wet and LOST!!!
I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE
and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

I have never seen that bird before....I love the bright yellow of the adults.
Hello,
Wow, the poor thing does look wet. They are neat birds, you are lucky to have them nesting nearby. Great photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend! PS, thank also for the comment on my post.
I hope the wind didn't blow him off the nest...he doesn't quite look ready to fledge
he is so cute in the first pic and so ugly in the last pick and adorable in all the pics. hope the parents got him back in the nest.. what a sight to see out your window.. he looks wet and scraggly..
Diane, I am such a softie...I hope that baby found a dry place to hide. Fly catchers are nice to have around. Enjoy your weekend. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
I have never seen one of those birds, but it is sure cute. I love bird watching!
What a sweet little baby!
I am sure the parents are watching over it
Have a wonderful weekend!
He is precious!
Ahhhhh. That was special, wasn’t it?
So cute!! I've really enjoyed the birds this year!
so adorable!
Okay, that gets the cuteness award for this week for sure! I've never seen one but teay are very pretty and the baby is the cutest!
That is cute!
We had these birds when we lived in
Texas, but have never seen one in Tennessee.
Is baby joining the ballet? Looks like he/she has her tutu on

Hope that little one found its way back to the nest!
What a cute and brave little baby bird! Hope it stayed safe and found its way home.
aw, he looks bedraggled!!!
What a bunch of great captures. You really could create a coffee table book with your amazing photos of birds. So well done! We had two sets of Robin, one set of Blue Jay and the best surprise Oriels all nest and we got to see the babies this summer.

Although rather bedraggled, he's such a cutie isn't he.
Lovely photo's in your post.
All the best Jan
Oh he sure does look wet. Maybe he just likes walking in the rain. : )
You know I think I saw one of those last year here. I didn't know what it was and only got a passing glance at it. Very cool!!!
Ahhhh---how cute... We don't have them in our neck-of-the-woods I don't think.
They really have made themselves a little home in and around the mailbox... CUTE!
Hugs,
Betsy
Yep--too cute for words! Have a wonderful week!
Oh dear! Looks like that chick jumped out of the nest a day or two early. I hope they all managed to survive ok Diane.
Awwwww, darling, darling, DARLING!
Hope you're enjoying your weekend & thanks for linking in with us at I'd Rather B Birdin'.
So cute!! Great find. This is a new bird for me. Have a wonderful day!
Oh Diane, how perfectly precious. I always notice feathered cuties popping up all around us in the most peculiar places at times. It's like a wink from heaven.
Although I won't be posting anymore (I tried but I'm just a tad tired after so many years), I will continue to visit with you here, sis. I so enjoy your adventures.
Happy Sunday.
xoxo
So different looking bird, that he is actually cute. Hoping your week is going well.
What a lovely bird! I've never seen it here in Northern California and don't know whether we have them here (I think not). I hope the lost looking baby found back its parents and place.
Diane, I want to take him home and love him! He is such a cutie, and I love the fluff! So sweet! Love from Aunt Helen
Aww, isn't he cute. Oh and that neck in the last picture just made me laugh.
He’s a wet little dumpling all right...very cute!
awwww, poor thing!! don't you just want to pick him up and cuddle him!! awesome captures!!!
Awww, poor wet baby! Hope he found his way home. Such adorable birds!!
Totally cute! Just adorable!
He does look quite bedraggled and miserable … glad momma/daddy were looking out for him! And impressed that you could make this identification when he was not looking his best!
SO CUTE! I don't think he was lost but was being naughty and looking for trouble while his Mom was away collecting worms.
