The “Clouds” before the Storm

I went for a walk to take pics of the gorgeous sunset the night before Hurricane Florence rolled through the mountains.

stormIMG_8945

We have had a steady rain but no high winds. So we are in good shape in the Asheville, NC area.

The sunset is always spectacular.

These are all taken the same evening.

I went out again later and the clouds were low on Mt. Pisgah.

And the clouds were laying heavy over the Blue Ridge mountains.

I take pics from our balcony and from the parking lot.

night

But honey, could you go higher to get a better view?

manIMG_8936

And take a selfie while you’re up there!

manIMG_8937

Hahahahaha!

NO….this is NOT my HONEY! But it’s my neighbor up on the roof getting a better look at the storm clouds rolling in.

I’ll just stay down here and take my photos….thank you very much!

nIMG_8933

I hate to say this….but I’m going to have to take a break for a couple of weeks. We are helping with a family matter and it’s taking all of my time and energy right now. I don’t like to post pretty pics and not have time to visit all my blog buddies. So I’ll take a little break and be back soon.  We’re safe and sound and I hope all of you are too!

Have some fun while I’m gone and tell me all about when I get back! I’ll want a full report….with details! heehee!

I’m joining Mosaic Monday HERE.

I'm glad that you're safe and sound away from Florence and all that terrible storm damage. We went RV'ing in the Asheville area one time and when we woke up the next morning there was snow on the ground, well it was March!
Hope you manage to resolve the family concerns satisfactorily and come back to blogland with more pretty pictures soon.
Happy MM.

These are such pretty sunsets, Diane. Very mysterious with the clouds. It seems that many states are having these storms right now. Take care, and I hope all goes well with the family matter you are helping out with. : )

Take care of yourself. Glad Florence didn't mess with your time in Asheville. Lovely shots and I agree with you -- no I'm not going up on the roof. We'll be here when you return to welcome you back!

Glad that you fared well. Have a good break. What kind of details are you looking for?😉

I am glad you are safe (am way behind and didn't know you'd done your annual migration up north) ... so being so behind in my reading saved me from worrying about you ;>). Take care of yourself too as you help with family. And *definitely* don't climb up on any rooftops, coming storm or no.

Beautiful sunset pictures. I don't think I would be climbing up on a roof for a better look either.

Your photos are breathtaking, Diane. I'm glad to know that the Asheville area weathered the storm. We got a lot of rain and one little power flicker so feeling very thankful here.
I hope all goes well with your family matters.

I love the beautiful new photos! So glad all is well and you stayed safe. I prayed a lot of prayers for you! Weather still hot. It just thundered, but no rain! My new roof looks good, and I had the weeds pulled and the driveway and sidewalk cleaned. Not perfect, but better! Have a nice time--be sure to rest!! Love, Aunt Helen

Sunsets can be so glorious before the storm. I hope you didn't get too much rain and all is buttoned up tight.

Best of luck with your family issues. Things like that deserve your full attention. We'll await your return and your visits -- but in your own good time.

Beautiful pictures! Your neighbor reminds me of my youngest son. He has NO fear of heights and would definitely climb up on the roof for a better picture. I had to keep an eye on him growing up.

Enjoy your break...I will miss you!

Ever so glorious. I don't think the roof is the best idea - hope he didn't slide off - silly neighbor. I'm trying to catch up on blog reading - Sept. was a very hard month for us, but I'll catch up soon.
