Favorites and ‘not so’ Favorites!

When I went to Halpata Tastanaki Preserve and drove into the Pruitt Trailhead, there was a lot of ‘traffic’!

A Great White Egret flew right onto the road in front of me!

I slowed down for the ‘traffic’!

It had rained the day before so there were a few puddles.

But he stood his ground!

Later a Park Ranger came by and I talked with him. (I tried to talk to the Egret but he pretended he didn’t hear me)

I got to tell my ‘horse fly story’! The long version of that story is HERE! And he said they had been terrible this year.

Then when I got back into my car, I saw one on my side mirror.

(not in very good focus but I didn’t want him to fly inside my car!)

I saw a few Swallow-Tailed Kites when I was leaving so I saw more favorite things than the ‘not so favorite’ kind!

Have you had a good week?

Did you get a chance to get outside and enjoy nature?

Hello, those flies can be horrible. I love your Great Egret photos. Neat sighting of the Swallow-tailed Kite. They are pretty raptors. I would like this preserve and the trail. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your day and weekend! PS, thanks always for the comment on blog.

i walk every day, of course most days in the neighborhood, today we took BB to the park for the first time, a few 'challenge' with all the smells and him pulling like a Tank... but all in all it went well

It's been too cold for me so I haven't spent much time outside. It was a busy week with lots of work.

Great shots of the egret. I talk to the animals I meet too. : )
Glad that you didn't have another encounter with the horse fly.
I've had a great week and yes I've out enjoying the great outdoors.

Hello! Wonderful Egret! Well, I walk at least 2 hour every day - with my dog. Have a happy sunday!

That looks such an interesting place to visit, especially if you have it mostly to yourself. It must have been quiet for the egret to allow such close contact. No horse flies her - it's far too cold.

Oh I hate horseflies! That landing strip was just too good for the egret to pass up!

Love those shots of the flying birds. I did get outside this week. Took all three of my little granddaughters to the zoo.

Great shot of the egret! I am sorry that the horseflies have been so bad this year. We get them when we go up to Lake Superior in the summer and they are awful!

I hope you have a really great week, Diane. xo Diana

Awesome birds! I read your 'horsefly' story and giggled. I think I would have tried to kill the bugger after a while--not just try to scare him off.
Last summer, the flies were awful--in fact, I wrote a post that they were a great choice for a plague in the Bible!

I think the Great Egret was there just for you, Diane. Such a beautiful bird and when we see one, we can't help but pause and look for a few moments. : )
