Share the Trail! "The Florida Trails"

It's great to live close to so many wonderful hiking trails! But as you can tell, I have my favorites! And hiking the the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross-Florida Greenway is at the top of my list!

AND to make it even nicer, sections of it are paved! So it is very popular with the bicyclists. They are very courteous and always speak when they 'fly' by! And I hug the side of the trail to make it easy on them. There's plenty of room and they always say, 'passing on the left' and then follow up with a greeting. It sure makes the hike more pleasant!

So when you see the wide paved trail in my photos, it is for hikers and bicyclists only (not vehicles).

Imagine my surprise when I saw a 'boat' coming down the trail!

 Oh, it's NOT a boat?

There's a bicycle in there somewhere, covered with a wood veneer! Pretty unique, don't you think!

And to include the birds I saw on this particular hike...

House Finches

a 'lone' house finch

and a Yellow-bellied sapsucker

wondering what kind of critter was staring back at him!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE
and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Oh I love those nice paved trails....makes it so nice for walking. We do not have many trails around here but now that Marvin is retired and his sciatica seems to be better, we hope to find some places to walk!

Nice trail! Cute boat bike too. Is the Yellow bellied sapsucker related to the woodpecker? Does it peck....it looks like it would hanging on the bark like that.

Rick would love that trail. I don't quite get the boat bike -- seems like a lot to haul around when you're already pedaling but to each his own!

Thwre is a trail like that along the Chattahoochee River in Columbus, Georgia. It is one of my favorites and the birds are everywhere. Always love my vicarious journeys.

Yes, yes!!! We both found a Yellow Bellied Sapsucker, and I agree....their sound is so unlike those other woodpeckers!! Great Photos today Diane.

[love the cycle-boat]

Thanks for linking in this weekend. And, happy birding.

So nice when passing cyclists give a warning.
That is one strange looking bike. :)
It is great that you have so many different places to walk. There are quite a few places to go hiking around here but I like to just walk out my door and go instead of getting in the car.

A great trail to be sure and it is good to see it being well used. It is especially good that the bikers and hikers get along so well, avoiding the conflict that often seems to be a feature of multi use trails.

Seeing that 'boat' would have made my day.

I like paved paths as well, but it does detract a bit from walking in the "woods" however it can also be safer with no roots or stones to contend with. I assume you can also go off the paved trail if you want to really get into nature.
