Baby Birds, how we love them!

It's been fun to see so many babies lately. We've taken morning hikes at the Florida Trails and there have been lots of birds to see and photograph. This looks like a young one, all fuzzy on his head! (hike #67)

   Such a pretty woodpecker!

Downy Woodpecker

And 5 or 6 of these little ones greeted me on the Florida Trails another morning (hike #68).

They were chattering like crazy in the bushes.

But finally one of them flew into the tree to speak right to me! It looks like a Warbler but I'm not sure what kind! If you know, please let me know!

Update: thanks for your ideas on what he might be but when I looked at my Florida bird books and Sibley's, I still think it is a Warbler....a Pine Warbler. I heard him and he had more of a Warbler sound, he has faint yellow on his breast AND there are always lots of Pine Warblers and Palm Warblers on this section of the Florida Trails.  Maybe I'll get to see them again!

And on the days I don't hike, I usually walk down to the neighborhood pond. (this doesn't count as a hike! lol)

Imagine my surprise to see these precious little ones swimming together on the pond all bunched up!

Easy to see what they are when Mama Moorhen comes to collect them!

Wait up Mama....we're going as fast as we can!

This duck walked right up to me while I was taking pics!

Do you have babies nesting near you?

One of the nice things about Spring!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

Everyone loves babies. I watched a family of cardinals outside my window once learn to fly. I was just captivated.

We have two ducks on our pond at Grimmwood. They come and go and I always enjoy seeing them. When we were leaving there on Thursday, we saw three yearling deer in the road. They took off but were so cute, just hope none are hit by a car.

Nice series of pictures and great company on your walk. I don't think this is a young warbler. It looks like a wren, probably House Wren, although Carolina Wren is possible. I am just not that familiar with the plumage of Carolina Wren at that stage of development, but I suspect it would more closely resemble the adult. House Wren would be my conclusion.

great pictures, especially picture number 3 and 4!! I cant identify many birds AT ALL, but I sure do like looking at them. I am learning alot about different kinds from your blog here and also Debbie's!! Those baby ducks are so adorable, we seen a group of them almost running out into a street last week. Sweetest little things!! Hope you're having a great weekend my friend!! It's warm and sunny here and Mr. Front Porch is out doing yard work and I'm trying to catch up in here, LOSING BATTLE, HA HA lol lol
it's in the tolerable 80s here....not the dreaded heat yet, which is quickly coming! ha ha Has it made it to y'all yet?
ps...the dollie with the stove....does she have a name? just wondering. Your other dollie is Wendy, right?

Diane,
How adorable! I just love baby birds and last year I had a family of cardinals nesting right outside my kitchen window so I had a great view watching them mature. I hope they return! I just love their fuzzy heads!! LOL! Have a wonderful weekend!

Diane, Thank you for all the Birds, Flowers, and other animals you photograph. They are so special! I especially loved the blue bird you drew, and the photos of the Woodpecker were outstanding! I hope this message goes through. I am not too savvy at this!! Love, Aunt Helen

Spring is such a wonderful time of year. I haven't seen any baby birds but there is a dead tree that sits right off my property line that has had a lot of activity. There is a round hole in the side of it that I've seen birds fly into. I'm pretty sure they have a nest in there.

I was struggling to ID that young warbler until you mentioned Pine Warbler. They all look so different from their parents when so young.

I have house finches right by my front door. Every year, they nest there to be disturbed and fly off as I go in and out the door. There's a lot of room all around but they pick the same spot. Mus be generations of them by now.

Oh how I love babies... any kind, any shape, any species! I've been like that since I was a young girl. The fact that I specialized in OB after nursing school was no surprise to anyone who knew me. :-) Love, Andrea xoxo

I don’t know what your baby bird is, but I’m envious ... I don’t see many warblers and when I do I don’t get good pictures. What a great place to hike ... and your neighborhood pond is pretty sweet too. The moorhen family is great!

aaahhh, what a sweet bird. It looks like he's singing for you. It looks like he's all one color, but I can see a little bit of yellow on his chest. How delightful that this precious duck walked right up to you. I love that photo. It's a special one. : )

I've seen goslings at the ditch and I think Rick has babies in his eaves -- we see the big birds go in but no one has come out yet! It's a lovely season!
