That's what we always say when we try to photograph small birds at the feeders or out on a hike.
They flit away!
So they are extremely hard to capture.
Of course when I saw these on our bird feeders in the courtyard, I took them through the glass window. After I took them, I got some paper towels and gave the windows a good cleaning. heehee!

mine "flit" too but it has gotten better over the years!! one winter, i had one oriole, a female. i feed her all winter and she was so appreciate, really...you could tell by her mannerisms. she would watch me put out jelly and oranges for her, sit very close by. when i turned to go inside, she would hop over and start to eat. i loved her...she came every day for the entire winter, she left in spring and i never saw her again!!! that's a happy story, when i read it back, it sounded a little sad!!

Beautiful photos of beautiful birds! We have bushes full of birds and when I open the front door they all go quiet. I’m not a photographer nor am I an educated bird watcher like you so I’ll just say all of our many many birds are small and brown!

Diane, I love the pictures. Once when I wanted some hummingbird shots, I just stood near a Japanese maple and waited. It worked, had to stand still .:) I think the birds are ready for the birdbaths to get warm. I saw about a dozen robin at the hospital parking lot, so sweet. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
I so enjoy birds. What a bunch of cuties you captured. I do the same thing, especially in Colorado. I hide at the edge of the window...then pop out. Sometimes it actually works!
I love looking at the birds you get at your feeders. Can't wait to get some up and running when we get settled. There is a huge place where the condo association feeds the birds at the end of our 'block'. xo Diana
There were 6 female Cardinals at the feeders this afternoon. One male came by but they ignored him! I love the Black and White Warbler.
No feeders here but I sure do enjoy yours!!

lol, they FLIT alright. Up here too. But these guys seems to play peek-a-boo :)
I don't think many birds have been on my mother's porch in the colder weather and snow lately, but I'm no good at identifying what they are anyway. She only has a little bath and a few plants but they seem to like that. The favorite thing on my porch was a hawk (unless it was a juvenile eagle) and my least favorite were the red winged blackbirds. They are such bullies I had to take down my feeder.
Somehow you managed to get some good ones. Yes, they flit, that's for sure. But you did just fine!
You had a wonderful selection of birds, the Yellow-throated Warbler especially. It rarely makes it this far north, and when it does it creates a lot of excitement. In Cuba, however it was very common. It is a stunning bird.

Oh you got some great shots for birds that want to "flit" away. Having the feeder close to the window is a good idea if you really want to see them. Mine is a little too far away. We mostly have just had chickadees, tufted titmouse, red bellied woodpeckers and cardinals. There are other little birds in the trees, but I rarely see them at the feeders. Also we have some wrens. I do love to watch them. We have blue jays in the trees, but they don't come to the feeder. There are Phoebe's out there and other insect loving birds in the sky, but very hard to capture a picture of them. I love your pictures. So pretty.

The warblers are quite something! They are fast, aren't they!!!
I know, I know....it takes so much patience to get pictures of the birds........they are SO FLIGHTY...HA HA LOL. You get some great ones tho. Those yellow ones are so gorgeous, I never see those here. We do have the ground feeding doves and the pretty little finches, I think the males with the red are so pretty. Yes, I love the painted rocks too.....lil FairyGranddaughter found one in a park here and I found just one on a brick fence.....this was back when the "movement" was so big and not many participate anymore I guess--I have stopped seeing them. I started leaving what I call fairy stones about two years ago maybe? Since I like fairies and all, that is just what I called them, ha ha LOL. I leave little trinkets as well as stones sometimes, little animals, buttons and such for the kids to find hopefully. Hope you have a great Sunday!!--we are off to church! PS---IT'S SO SO SO COOOOOOLD HERE THIS WEEKEND!!!

I don't think I could ever capture them before they flit away! It is like capturing great photos of the grandkids - so fast! The birds give me hope for spring!

You got some *great* pictures of your feeder birds...lucky you (no, scratch that. Talented you,). I used the word “flitty” in my post (talking about butterflies I wasn’t able to photograph.). Spellcheck did NOT like that word at all, still doesn’t! So maybe I made it up, but, heck, I bet you knew exactly what I meant ))).
aaahhh, these cute little birds you saw at your feeder. And I love the Dove. That would be so nice to see so many birds at the feeder. I usually just see birds in the wild, and Yes, they flit away quickly, so I have to be very still. The trick is to already have my camera lens zoomed in, cause they automatically fly away if they see the black camera in motion. : )
