We hiked at Blue Run a couple of weeks ago and looked down from the bridge and saw one flower.
Water Hyacinth
But it was one of the most beautiful flowers we've ever seen.
But it was one of the most beautiful flowers we've ever seen.
Is it a wildflower or did a seed drop among the rocks near the water and grow to be this beautiful bloom?
I used a watercolor effect for this photo....
and then made it into a 3D object.
I haven't been able to identify it yet so if you have any ideas, I can update my post later. Updated below!
And then a couple of days ago when we hiked from the Pruitt Trailhead, we saw a vine growing through the plants with these gorgeous flowers.
I did know what it was though!
Passion Flower
Just one vine but it had several blooms.
I love flowers, don't you? Oh and Mosaics!
Thanks Pamela for helping me identify this beautiful flower! It's a Water Hyacinth. Pamela gave me a link to ID info HERE and I found a good article about it HERE.

WOW! How beautiful is this flower and girl, that watercolor effect really made it pop! Did you do the canvas piece? Looks so nice! Love it. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Oh what beautiful treasures you found! I love flowers but I can't identify them very well... if at all. I have several species of weeds growing in my yard too and don't know them by name either. *lol* Your mosaics are gorgeous as well. Love, Andrea xoxo
The flowers are beautiful. The first one looks very much like what we always called Dutch Iris. I do love your 3D images. Enjoy your day, hugs, Edna B.
So pretty, Passion flowers are my favorite! :)
Love your beautiful mosaic of lovely purple flowers. I will have to see if I can find that first one...it really is lovely growing there by the water in the rocks. We just never know what beauty we will see when we open our eyes and look around! Thank you for sharing this with us today.
I believe your first flower is a purple water hyacinth. It can be quite invasive if not controlled, but it is lovely. Thank you for sharing it with us. https://nwdistrict.ifas.ufl.edu/phag/2012/08/06/controlling-weeds-in-your-pond-water-hyacinth/

Lovely flowers! Enjoyed the way you displayed them, lovely mosaics. Wishing you a beautiful day, Diane. Brenda xo
I love flowers also. We were at Biltmore this past week for a day --and loved visiting the Water Lilies/Lily pads in the Italian Gardens there... I took a gazillion pictures....
Thanks for making me smile.
Have a great week.
Hugs,
Betsy
Hello, Diane,
The flowers you found on your hike are beautiful. It does seem there is always beauty to be found. The Passion Flower is lovely. I have heard of the water hyacinth,it's blooms are lovely too. Pretty series of images and mosaics! Take care, enjoy your day! Have a great week!

Looks tropical.
FL has a quite tropical climate, so that makes sense!

That water hyacinth is gorgeous, Diane! It reminds me of an orchid. Love its color and shape and the "watercolor" photo effect does make it look like a painting.
I love flowers too. What fun seeing those beautiful colorful flowers.

Hi, thanks for sharing this beautiful flower. It actually looks a bit like some of my paintings so, now I think I might try painting it. I´ll take a shot and put it to my "tips" :)
Beautiful flowers makes beautiful mosaics :)
The water hyacinth is beautiful but that passion flower, now that is different and lovely.

Yo amo las flores y estás son preciosas. Besos.
I love those!
I used to have a couple, but they didn't do well in the goldfish pond. It gets too hot, and they didn't do well.
Thanks for the lovely photos!
Real beauties! The first one is new to me.
I LOVE those cool effects! Id love to see one here.
Have a beautiful day!
Blessings, Joanne
You are most likely referring to the same Pamela who has helped me more than once to identify plants. She is a most helpful resource!
Your pictures of the water hyacinth are stunning.
Natures gift to you was the happiness and pleasure you have received from spotting that beautiful water Hyacinth.
Beautiful post!

That is one beautiful flower, for me the name didn't matter, I just wish I could have seen it in real life. Here, where I live, there is an abundance of flowers in the spring, then none or very few. And your mosaics are getting more and more interesting.
We have moved to northern Mn. recently so getting to know a few new flowers. The best one is their state flower and it's against the law to pick them. They are called Lady Slippers. sorry I do not have a picture of one. They grow along the sides of the road in the lowest wet ditches and in the woods in wet places. I confess someone picked one for me to show me how unique they were. they say they are had to grow, considered a rare wild flower.
A lavender flower just for you, Diane. How nice to see this one flower growing among the rocks and the greenery. It's so unique. And that passion flower is an original too. It sounds like a lovely day on your hike. : )
