Sharing the beauty of Johnson Pond!

Here are a few more photos from our hike to Johnson Pond.

It was such a beautiful day!

The lily pads had their Autumn colors on!

We've had a few nights of frost this winter so things are looking pretty brown and drab here and there.

But the lily pads were colorful and the water was dark blue.

This one was a dark red!

The temps were in the high 60s with low humidity so it was perfect for a hike. We wear long sleeves for 'cool' weather like this! lol

We continue to social distance and hike trails that few people hike. On this particular day we met a nice family beginning their hike and from a distance, I asked if I could take their photo. I said this was the littlest hiker I had seen! What a great place for a family outing! (I ZOOMED and cropped this photo....we were 20 ft away from them!)

Have you been able to get outside and enjoy the weather this week?

I’m joining Thankful Thursdays and

I like Thursdays HERE too!

That is a perfect day for a hike! Our daughter just moved back home from Florida earlier this year, but she used to enjoy those hikes when she was there. Fun to see the varied colors of lilypads.

How lovely, a wonderful post. Thanks so much for visiting and I would be very happy for you to use the quote.

So beautiful! I would have enjoyed some time at that pond looking at all that beauty. So nice the family let you take their picture. I used to love to go hiking when my fiance's kids were little. They always saw so much more in nature than we did.

Covid has caused families to spend more time together. So nice to see them out for a walk with the little one.

I love the photo of the curled up water lily leaf. It's very interesting as a subject!

Wonderful photos. I like the saying on that last photo. I agree that Covid has brought a lot of families closer together. Keep walking my friend. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

How beautiful!
I appreciate the beauty you share with us.
It is cold and wintry here.
I need some inspiration to get up and get out!
Have a cozy day!

What beautiful pictures! I love the family with the little baby!!

It's really nice weather here in northern Indiana: sunshine, temps in the high 30s-low 40s so the snow for the most part has melted, and the birds are singing. But apparently we have quite a bit of snow coming, with high winds, so we'll revert back to our fuzzy slippers, fires burning in the fireplace, hot cocoa in our mugs, and snuggling up with good books... which is our usual fare this time of year. Winter in my area of the country is the time we rest, relax, take account, and prepare for the work of spring which is right around the corner. :-)

Have a wonderful day, my friend~ Andrea xoxo

So nice that you and your hubby get out to these lovely places to hike. Also nice that you share them with us :). The tiny little hiker is a cutie. I think it's great to see people out in nature. I think it is so helpful for physical as well as mental health which is more important than ever right now.

Fantastic photos. I didn't know lily pads had Autumn colors. (Maybe it's too short lived to be noticeable here in Connecticut.) Nice photo of the group out walking with the baby.

Great photos!! My friend, Elaine, and I have been walking here in our community every morning. I haven't been able to walk without pain for 10 years. Awesome feeling and I am increasing how far we go! Bok Tower Gardens is in the future.

Our lily pads disappeared before I saw them change color. I never knew they did the autumn thing.

Our walking trail is dirt. That is why we go there every day, so we don't have to walk on the pavement. And it is private and peaceful and woodsy. It's not what you'd call a hike, but it is a nice walk and we enjoy it. Your pond/lily pictures are beautiful. I love the different colors of the lily pads in winter and the water does take on a different hue. There is much beauty even when things are drying and dying in the winter. Each season has its own beauty. Thank you for sharing this with us. Loved it.

What an amazing place, Diane, lucky lucky you. I love hiking where there is water (and where there are no mosquitos).

Such pretty pretty scenery, even in winter. I love all the trails you show us. I love being out on the trails, the old plantations, the parks and woods, out in nature is best. And if we can't do that....then city walking is great too and I love that as well. Actually there is lots of nature to be found in the city if we just take time to look.....lots of huge beautiful old trees, gardens with flowers year round....many birds and butterflies etc.---and of course, the beaches. I love being next to the water. Yes!--we sure would have lots of fun dressing up our dolls, wouldn't we? And looking at old children's books!!

A great series. I really enjoyed these pictures and nothing warms my heart more than to see three generations enjoying the outdoors together. Unfortunately we have gone into lockdown again and will be unable to see Lily for the next four weeks.

Hello,

The lily pads are pretty, lovely views from your hike. We come across large groups hiking together, not sure if they were family or friends. I love the quotes, I like to choose the dirt path.

Take care, have a happy day and weekend!

That dog was keeping an eye on you. Which makes me wonder how dogs feel about this social distancing business. I may have to ask my Faith, who of course wouldn't know since she's never been socialized to meet and sniff other dogs.

Hi namemate! I really appreciate your comment in my blog. Feels like ages since I left a comment here. I've been wanting to send a postcard but the trips to Post Office, seems to be too risky.

We live in a city and it was really challenging to survive the quarantine. I always daydream that we live in a place like yours. I hope we had enough spaces and nature to take a break and engage in that much needed physical activity.

Yes, I've been outside, as nature is all around my new mountain home. What a sweet picture of this family. Love her red hair. And the baby is precious. I remember Nel and Jess used to use this convenient pouch for the babies when they went on a hike. That is a lovely photo of the sun shining through. And I love the quote you shared, "Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt." That's so true, isn't it? Hope you're having a good start of the new year Diane.

My son Reese just returned home last night from a job interview in Ft. Myers, Florida. He might be moving there, it all depends on their offer. He left here (Tennessee) where it was 29 degrees and snowing, stepped off the plane into 71 degrees. He liked Florida, hated flying: hard landing, scrambled flight instructions, delayed flight, and a night spent in the airport. He said he will drive the 12 hours next time, it will be quicker.

The pond looks so still and beautiful with those coloured leaves - much like ponds here in early autumn. How fun to see the family with the little hiker. Enjoy your weekend!
