Come Hike with me!

I know it's August and we're in Florida but we're trying to make a few hikes before the month is over!

Last year we reached 100 hikes at the end of August and we would love to meet that goal! Let's go over to the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Country Greenway for a shady hike!

It was 79 degrees on a morning hike this week which doesn't sound too bad. BUT, it was 97 % humidity with very little breeze! So it felt pretty warm and sticky! We weren't bothered by mosquitoes or flies though so there's that! lol

Giant Swallowtail

This butterfly is the largest one we've ever seen here in Florida!

We've had little pop up showers this month so things are blooming again as if it's Spring!

I love this new banner but I like the one I have up there right now...it's hard to decide whether to change it!

How's the weather in your neck of the woods?

I'm joining Angie for Mosaic Monday HERE .

Also I like Thursdays HERE.

Hot and sticky is tolerable when the sun isn't out. Hiking in Florida would be nice.

Great pictures. I have been walking on the beach where there is usually a breeze around 8:30 in the morning during these hot months!

Those are gorgeous photos of the Swallow Tail. And I love the photos of the green heron in the last post. I never did get to see this bird while I was in Florida. It's a beautiful bird. Enjoy your hikes, hugs, Edna B.

It's warm here but not too uncomfortable. At least Henri scaled itself down and missed us. All we have is the cloud cover for now.

Beautiful butterflies. As I think about the landscaping of this yard I hope to attract more butterflies.

Beautiful photos!
Here in north Mississippi it is 88F at 11:10am with 65% humidity.

Hi Diane I love seeing all the Swallow Tail butterflies in your photos!
I'm sure you are used to humidity so it does not bother you too much. It would be the same with me with winter weather-- the cold does not bother me too much if I'm dressed right.

Lovely swallowtail photos. Hot and humid here, not a lot of outside activities going on.

What a wonderful set of swallowtail photos! Gorgeous creature. Here the weather has gone from above seasonal to slightly below seasonal in a big hurry. I've had to put on a light sweater!

Hello,

Beautiful captures of the butterflies, the flowers are lovely too.
Hubby and I try to take our walks early before the hottest part of the day.
We are having a hot and humid August. Take care, have a great day and happy new week!

The weather here is just like yours! That butterfly is gorgeous! Thanks for taking us along!! xo

Your butterfly photos are gorgeous, Diane. I admire you for hiking in the heat and humidity. It is very hot (90s) and humid here and my walks are happening indoors. Can't wait for cooler weather.

It has cooled down here -- my first nice long neighborhood walk today in a long time. (Last week on the Coast was even nicer, but we can't always go camping!). I scrolled up to compare banner photos and I like both so I'm no help at all.

Oh the butterfly pictures are beautiful.
60's in the morning with clouds, afternoon sun in the 70's, evening shower and now the sun is out again.

I couldn't take the humidity in New Jersey when I was in my 20s, so no way could I live in Florida now. But how great that I can read your blog and see all your great pictures and enjoy it this way. That butterfly is huge and the first picture is amazing!

It's good to change your banner once in a while. Kind of gives a new look to your blog.

You have the best hikes! I hurt my foot, again. Hubby walks every morning, though, if he's not into other stuff.

You are very determined to hike! My years along the Gulf Coast made me miserable in any kind of humidity -- I just feel suffocated! But look at what I missed! All the beautiful nature!

I love the beautiful shots of the butterfly. It's so nice that you get out for the hikes even though it's so hot out. We were lucky that we had no damage from hurricane Henri. It's been hot, humid, and a lot of rain here. I hope you enjoy the week Diane.

You are braver than me! I go out early and water and garden and then I'm back in the AC! It's hot and humid here too! If you get out early the temps aren't bad but like you said...the humidity is what drains you.
Love your giant swallowtail! Try and stay cool!

Hey there Diane did you take that BUTTERFLY PICTURE???the first one....wowzers THAT IS SO BEAUTIFUL MY FRIEND!! Love it. Love all your hike pictures. It's SO DARN HOT AND MUGGY AND WET AND MISERABLE HERE....not too many hikes at all, but we DID DO A couple hour walk about this weekend, we had a scavenger hunt for our Fairy Granddaughter, and we sure had fun.....but mercy it poured the rain on us and we got SOAKED, it actually felt good because we were so hot and sweaty, ha ha LOL!! Any other walks we take are pretty short, it's just too miserable. I'm almost ready to give it up and say "OKAY FALL COME ON!!" HA HA Love the cute picture of you hiking and also those pretty wildflowers. You are prettier than the wildflowers tho!! Hugs!!

You are then intrepid hiker, My Friend! It has been hot here the past week with dangerously high heat indexes. I have not been hiking lately, and we only walk very early in the AM. I love your butterfly photos! :D

Great photos Diane and I enjoyed my virtual walk with you, thank you :) It has been in the 90s here, and humid. We had one day in the 70s but the humidity was awful. I feel a bit of a wimp as I know what it is like down in Florida at this time of the year.

The Swallowtail butterfly is very pretty. Lots of yellow on its wings. Sorry you're getting the humidity. I have another blog friend from Florida, and she talks about the humidity often. But it's good that you got a few showers in August. We desperately need the rain with the fires going on in Calif. It's been cooler this week, and feels like Fall is coming. : )

Have a blessed week, Diane.

I'm not sure I'd even remember how to change a banner... beautiful shots as usual!

Diane - the first picture is a million-dollar shot! I like how the upper wings are blurred, giving the butterfly motion. AWESOME! I might go look to see how many hikes we have done so far this year - I am sure it is less than you since we have a shorter season. But I am guessing the overall mileage is similar - this last "hike" was 30 miles over 4 days ... Our weather has gotten dramatically cooler this past week - one night of camping we had frost! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday, and good luck with achieving your goal!
