Back to Fletcher Park in NC for another hike!

This park is only 1 mile from our condo in NC so it's quick and easy to run over there for a hike.

The weather was beautiful!

We're going to walk over to Sycamore Lane for this hike.

It meanders through big Sycamore trees and stays shady most of the day.

I love this old rusty bridge.

Can you see it 'steaming'? The sun was coming in on the moist bridge and causing it to steam. I was surprised the photo showed it so well.

And walking on a side trail leads down to Cane Creek.

We spotted this Great Blue Heron up in a tall tree.

And watched a squirrel having a little mid morning snack.

This little dog was trying to keep up with his master on a bike.

Above photo, Thanks David G. for identifying this as a damselfly, a male Ebony Jewelwing (Calopteryx maculata).

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Glad you did not see any bears! Our neighbor across the road had one in the bed of his truck the other morning. He had left an empty soda cup back there and Mr Bear was checking it out.

That little fly is interesting, and such BIG eyes. The Great Blue Heron is so pretty. Such a grand bird, isn't it? The creek is lovely. I was going to take a ride to the creek today with my son. I'd like to see it in all the seasons. That's a cool photo of the bridge and the steam.

Have a peaceful and restful weekend, Diane.

Well if one must take a hike 😁, the shade must help. Interesting capture of the steaming bridge.

In the event that you might be interested the damselfly above (not a dragonfly) is a male Ebony Jewelwing (Calopteryx maculata). Nice shot.

I remember the sidewalks steaming in New Orleans. And "sweating" if it wasn't quite hot enough to steam. You are a hardy hiker. I'd be passed out under the AC. What fun critters you saw! Lil' doggie is so cute.

That steaming bridge is quite something, as is the photo of the heron. You find interesting things wherever you walk. Happy new week to you, Diane.

so good to have a place like this nearby. Easy to visit whenever you like. Love the Ebony Jewelwing, a gorgeous shot. We have a similar one but this year I have only seen one male individual and no female :(

What a pretty trail! Your NC posts make me think of the Plantation tours we took when we were staying around Charleston (SC) and how the guide at one of them told us that the wealthy people back in those days would pack up every summer and head for their summer home in the mountains in (now) North Carolina. I thought about how even very wealthy people didn't have air conditioning back then!
