A few "regulars" have shown up for the winter months!

A lot of birds live in Florida year round because of the mild weather.

But I'll share some that we are seeing more of this month!

American Kestrels

We have seen them on several of our hikes lately!

They really are eye catching!

  Flycatchers

We are seeing all kinds of flycatchers when we hike.

And they are busy catching the bugs right out of the air! YAY!

More birds, less bugs is a good thing!

The Sandhill Cranes are back at the Pruitt Trailhead of the Florida Trails.

They are neat to see and pretty easy to spot under the trees!

Lots of bluebirds and warblers everywhere we go and a few wildflowers and butterflies around too!

A few blog friends asked how I took this photo.

I pointed my camera down and zoomed a little into Johnson Pond and that's what I got. At first I was disappointed that it wasn't in sharp focus but then I fell in love with it! It's like a work of art. Nature IS a work of art! Thanks for all of your sweet comments!

It's a great time to take a hike in Florida. Temps are in the 70s all week long!

Come on down!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Hello,

Nature is a work of art! The Sandhill Cranes are one of my many favorite Florida birds. Sometimes they can be seen in Maryland. Love the Kestrel and Flycatchers. Beautiful flowers and butterfly. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend!

Beautiful birds and the picture of the pond is so cool. The fall color is alive on my street right now. You just have to wait until December to see it. It has been gorgeous weather. I am trying to take advantage too.

the past 2 weeks of our weather is what I would specail order for year round If I could, not to hot, not to cold, perfect for sleeping well, and walking outside n cool sunshine.. the butterfly on the daisies is my favorite. it looks like the daisies put a broach butterfly on to dress up for your visit.

ps if you find any mosquito catchers send them on down. bob says the garage is full of them..

I rather like the idea of so many species staying around all year Diane. It's a pretty dreary day here with wind and rain and i could do with some Florida sunshine and some of your pretty birds. Like the colourful Kestrel and those cranes sounding out against your blue skies.

My daughter is planning a birthday trip to Florida. She has told me an entire year in advance so I have time to get used to the idea. 😁 No, I will not be in tow. I love your butterfly picture.

...I'm glad that you have flycatchers, there's not much for them to catcher today!

Perfect butterfly on the wildflowers. and the lilies on the pond photo is beautiful...just the way it is! Sometimes our "boo-boos" turn out to be our most interesting pictures of all! Thank you for sharing your hiking joy with us.

Hello, I did a drawing of a flycatcher when I was in grade school, I won a grand champion ribbon at the fair! I have always liked them.
Enjoy the beautiful weather.

It always adds a little extra pleasure to a walk when the migrants start to arrive and you are never quite sure what you might see from one day to the next. Enjoy them all!

I love seeing and learning the names of the Florida birds. Being on the beach in South Florida, I don't see as many varieties as you do- mostly water birds but I'm thinking of some hike excursions this year to see more. Thanks for the beautiful photos and identifying the birds.

I love the bigger birds!

It is wonderful that you have such extensive wild life in Florida and that so many birds feel comfortable there and find plenty of food! If I were a wild bird, I would rather live in Florida than in Austria ;-) (I love my country but winter is very cold here...)
Happy December-days and all the best,

The flycatcher is such a sweet bird. The cranes are funny birds with their long necks. Most of the birds aren't coming around here, it's been too cold. But I did see about a dozen mourning doves in my front yard visiting me one day. I love that photo of the wildflowers and butterflies. It's so lovely. They kind of look like mini daisies hehehe. The pond photo looks like a painting, and Yes, artistic. : )
