Calming Colors

Here in Florida, it's the time of year for the woods to calm down.

The colors are muted (only a few colorful leaves left) and there are fewer wildflowers. It's still beautiful, just calmer.

Photos taken on the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway from CR 484 trailhead.

Rock formations in the canal diggings and a table in honor of Joseph in what I call 'gnome village'.

 Fence Lizard

A more colorful sight were these clusters of mushrooms at the base of this tree!

It really was eye catching!

I'm not sure what they are, do you know?

And I met a sweet lady at Blue Run Park this week too.

I rushed over to give her a Jeep ducky and she pulled out a zip lock bag and gave me a colorful ducky! Thanks Missy!

What a fun surprise! This is HER cool red Jeep!

It's very hard to see so many sad things in the world right now. But getting out in nature helps. And something I don't stress as often is the exercise you get. It makes so much difference when you go to bed at night and want to calm your mind to fall asleep. It's what I call 'good tired'. Get some exercise, take a relaxing bath, read a good book and then go to bed. It will help you sleep good and be able to tackle whatever you face the next morning. I am thankful that my family members that were in the path of this terrible tornado outbreak are safe. And I am praying for everyone that is suffering, including family members that have lost a dear loved one this past week.

Take care of yourself and God bless you.

I'm joining Angie for Mosaic Monday HERE .

I like Thursdays HERE too!

Even though the colours are muted, the place still looks good. Interesting rock formations and no idea about the beautiful mushrooms. 'Good tired' makes it easier for me to fall asleep and sleep well. Take care and stay safe.

Totally agree with you about the physical and mental benefits of exercising in the great outdoors. I know I sleep better when I've been on a nature walk. We are lucky to be able to do that in all seasons!! The winter looks very serene and calm -- and still colorful.

So happy your family is safe...

Yes, try to stay calm. Being all rilled up, does no one, or nothing, any good.

You are right, getting out in nature now is even more important than ever. I too am so sorry for the people who had to experience the terrible tornadoes. I grew up in earthquake country, but a tornado seems so much worse. - Margy

Diane - extreme natural disasters seem to be happening more often. Tornadoes in December? It is tragic, and my heart goes out to all those who have lost loved ones - it will forever mar their memories of the holidays, I suspect.

I love your new header, the Fence Lizard and the mushrooms! (And I don't know what they are!) Thanks for linking up every week to Mosaic Monday - you are a joy to have as a member of Mosaic Monday!

Those are beautiful looking mushrooms. They look similar to chanterelles, which are good for eating, but I'm no mushroom expert, so don't take my word for it. I, too, find that walking in nature helps me to sleep better. There are so many sad things in this world just now. I pray for those who have experienced such devastating loss.

I agree with Lorrie's comment about the mushrooms, but I'm only used to the Swedish version of this mushroom and it's much smaller than this one. I agree that exercise and of course nature helps us to feel and sleep better. And if we are troubled helps us see more clearly and heal us if needed.

Good advice about getting out in nature. Very healing. I love those gorgeous mushrooms, too. I wonder if they are the kind that get their nutrients from the wood at the base of the trees. That's a cute duck you got - her Jeep is nice, but honestly yours is prettier!

Had no idea about this "ducky" exchange for jeep drivers. What a cute way to keep in touch with our fellow travelers. Walks outdoors amid natural wonders are therapy, indeed, as well as great exercise, particularly during these times.

A biggo Texas Howdy-do!!
I flew over your way after I read a comment of yours about holiday decorations, thinking you may have shared some of yours. But, I see a gift exchange, that's fun!! And pretty colorful mosaics too.

Happy Wednesday Diane.

What a wonderful place to walk. Your pictures are wonderful. I've never seen yellow mushrooms, but white ones here. Perhaps that's a location thing? I agree with the getting out in nature or even just a walk through the neighborhood to a local park, but sadly it's been so cold and wet here, I've not done well with my almost daily walks. Trying to continue to do things here in the house like planks and other exercises. Stay well.

Hello,
Love the colorful leaves and mushrooms. A walk with nature is relaxing, there is always something to see. I love that cute lizard. I am glad you family is safe, the tornadoes are devastating. Take care, enjoy your day!

I only wish it were safer for us to go out in nature again but we can still walk out back in our yard (wearing masks to protect against people without them) and look out windows and sometimes walk around the neighborhood late at night when people are inside. Love your mushrooms but don't know what they are

Hi Diane! Oh those mushrooms are amazing and so is the lizard photo! I think that Nature is therapy so good on you for getting out there and grounding yourself during this very unstable time in our lives!

Thankyou for taking me down into your woods today. I agree, getting out in nature makes such a difference to how we feel. So much devastating news around the world. And so much heartbreak. Take care, enjoy your weekend ahead and thankyou for popping over to my blog this week.

What a lovely post with special words, Diane. Those cute little ducky exchanges are a fun way to show you care for the people who hike on the trails. Not sure what those mushrooms are, but they are interesting to look at. Not much color left here either. Winter is approaching and we got a big snowfall. It's so pretty, but difficult sometimes getting your car ready and going to the store. But I said a prayer, and made it home safely this morning.

Have a peaceful weekend with the woods calming down at this time. That can be nice. The orange leaves in your photos are very pretty.
