Art Journals

I promised a blog friend that I would do a post that wasn't about birds or wildflowers but I'll probably sneak a few of those in this post!

I usually call my journals 'junk journals' which makes my youngest son laugh a somewhat nervous laugh as if to say, Mom's gone over the edge.

But these journals are so beautiful, I need to use the term 'art journal'.

I bought both of these books from a sweet Etsy shop called Nudgery Faire HERE and then I proceeded to cut and glue things onto the pages.

She is very talented and I feel blessed to have 2 of her journals....and another one on my wish list.

Her prices are exceptional too and I appreciate that.

The first one I bought was the Fairy Forest.

The name is enough to sell me!

And it is indeed delightful.

I still haven't finished it. I like to leave some pages available in case I find some perfect images to add later. And I always write quotes in all of my journals.

The second one is made in a different style and is so easy to work in. The pages stay open with the ring binding.

And of course she has put a lot of special touches into this one too.

Everything about it is beautiful!

A few more pages in a mosaic!

I love cutting things out, arranging the pages and gluing things in. I need a diversion when I can't be IN the forest!

(doesn't that look a bit like a monster or a BEAR in the center of the photo?)

Be sure and check this shop if you want a a journal to work on this summer! Just look HERE!

Are you working on craft or sewing projects this summer?

I'm joining Angie for Mosaic Monday HERE .

I’m joining Thankful Thursdays and

I like Thursdays HERE too!

In my senior years I am doing the motto I saw on a blog, that is my mantra and fits what you like to do.
do what you love to do, and do lots of it... each one of us likes different things and we need to do as much as we can. I know several people who love to journal but you are the only one that makes it fun with cut and paste. I do my cut/paste in the computer

Beautiful!
I really like the Owls!
Oh, I know your blueberry muffins were good! Hot out of the over with a pat of butter. Yum-yum! Two early mornings picking blueberries with my husband and his cousin's help, and I have approximately 15 lbs. of blueberries in my freezer! I am eating a few each day on my breakfast Cheerios.
Have a blessed day!

The journals are really beautiful and I'd also probably choose a fairy in a forest. It sounds like an interesting way to spend time. Don't worry about showing us birds or wildflowers. All bloggers have favorite things to blog about. I share flowers both in the garden or in a vase all the time. It makes me happy. I also enjoy your posts!

Definitely art over junk. Sons are fun, aren't they? I have never felt so "analyzed" as when my son is calling or visiting. My state of mind is definitely on his radar.

Hope Florida is cooler this week for you hikers.

Your junk journals are beautiful. It is a popular hobby also in Finland, but I have not yet been smitten :) Definitely it is a ghost - or a bear! In a forest you can see anyth8ng!

I admire art journals and the inspiration that goes into them! I loved reading the magazine Someset Studio through the years that was always showing similar artwork. I also collect quotations, Diane, and often pair ones I like with a photo on Instagram. My creative juices have been limited to baking and cooking these days and reading for my book club. I really should take up doing some art again, Thanks for the

Diane those books are beautiful!!--- alot of time and pure creativity into those! My favorite is the last one-- love the colors plus the ring binding. I hope you have found a neat way to display those somewhere in your house! I've made a few " junky journals" and I used old discarded books I recently finished one for our granddaughter with pictures and family history in it. I hope someday she will treasure it----it is stuffed full of old pictures and old historic stuff. Have a great week my friend!

Art journals fit these much better than junk journals. These are beautiful. I never know what to write in a journal and I like your idea of quotes.

I recently discovered that cutting out pictures and words and gluing them together with whatever else I want is quite zen for me. Ha, me who thought I didn’t have the motor skills to cut precisely. Fooled me, lol. Your art journals are very cool!

Wow, I've never seen such enchantingly artistic journals like yours. The creator of them would be pleased that you've made the most of them. My journal is simple series of memo-“random". Having hobbies both outdoors and indoors, no wonder you look inspired and creative all the time. Have fun.

Diane - the term "art journal" is much more fitting than "junk journal". Before blogging or the internet (dare I mention the '80s???) I was into scrapbooking, but as a poor college student it wasn't too artsy ... Right now I am working on a cross-stitch Christmas stocking for my daughter. And drawing the occasional birthday card. Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!

The journals from Etsy are beautiful, and you are making them even more so with your creative touches. I love the colours and the images you are using

I love your junk journals and have started to create a few pages myself. They will certainly be an ongoing project. I'm just including them in a doodle journal I have right now before I decide to dedicate a whole book to them. I did a similar project using old playing cards awhile back and really enjoyed that process. I did leave a comment yesterday, at least I think I did, but thought I would stop by again and let you know that you inspired me.

The art journals are so creative with so many wonderful things added to them. I like all the tags and notes, and the Fairy Forest Title. I especially like the mint green journal with the pink roses. That is so pretty. There's so much detail in all the pages. What a fun project to work on, and your own special touches are nice. I used to love it when my mom bought me colored construction paper when I was little. I went to town haha! Off to check out her etsy shop. : )

For years I used beautiful notebooks and blank books for jotting down thoughts and sketches, and sometimes for keepsakes. Somehow I stopped when I got into blogging, and now everything is electronic. I started to carry a small camera all the time (now of course it's an iPhone), which meant I wasn't sketching things I wanted to remember. Anyway, your beautiful purchases and the pages you have created make me wonder why I don't go back to it!

Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed seeing your journals and understand why you love them. You are so creative.

It is not a bear in the middle of the last picture. I think it is Big Foot. Yup. I'm sure of it.
