Let's go back to Blue Run Park in Dunnellon!

When we want to see a lot of birds and wildlife, we head to Blue Run Park.

White Ibis

It's also a place to 'visit' with a few regulars. A lot of people go there every day to walk or ride bikes so it's fun to see some familiar faces.

We love seeing the boats on the Rainbow River too.

The bridge is near where the Rainbow River and Withlacoochee Rivers come together.

The Withlacoochee was sparkling on this particular day.

And below the bridge we spotted two alligators.

Two Red Shouldered Hawks were perched in a tree nearby.

I have one pictured below but he really blends into the trees!

There were so many small birds but I think most of these are Yellow Rumped Warblers.

One more with the yellow rump visible.

And this is easily identified!

Wood Duck

He flew past us and landed in a pool of water close by!

And then he flew out again!

Lots of neat turtles on the logs.

And a Moorhen hiding in the tall grasses.

I love my forest hikes but you can see a lot more birds and wildlife at Blue Run Park!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

  and Mosaic Monday HERE !

This is so neat and I sure enjoyed seeing all of the pictures of the water fowl, the hawk and even the gators. It is neat that you all have this place to be able to enjoy nature at its fullest. The red shouldered hawk is so very pretty. Have a beautiful day.

The turtles look very happy — recently I read a book that described turtle life, especially what amazing personalities they have. I also enjoyed your birds.

Hi Diane, I never tire of your fascinating posts. Many excellent photos in this one. You know, I have to wonder, do you think a gater ever thinks it could be fast enough to capture one of those birds? 😊 I’ll bet it does happen, but rarely. Thanks for sharing Lavender Dreams. Happy weekend and week ahead to you and yours. John

The wood ducks are so pretty. They add some color to the water. And the little yellow warbler is sweet with the yellow on the back of his feathers. The river photo is very nice, and I love it when the sun shines down and makes the waters glisten. You came across many unique characters on your walk today. This sounds like one of your favorite places to see wildlife.

Have a pleasant weekend and week ahead, Diane.

That's such a great walk! It makes me want to drive straight to your part of Florida just so we can hike Blue Run trail. Gosh, it's the same state, why couldn't we do that? (Just checking with the other person in this house... huh, he said no! Imagine that!!) Thanks for sharing!!!
