"Manatee Springs State Park" Gorgeous!

I tried to think of a better word than 'gorgeous' but you'll have to help me there.

If after you look at the photos, you can think of a more descriptive word, I'll use it in my next post.

I'll include a link HERE if you want to read more about this park. This is a first-magnitude spring that releases an astounding 100 million gallons of water daily!

We spent a week camping here and had such fun.

There are a lot of hiking trails and the Springs were only about 1/2 mile away from our campsite so we went every day.

It was nice going at different times of the day to see wildlife and birds. We did not see Manatees on this trip but we weren't disappointed in our sightings each day.

Deer walked through our campsite. A raccoon climbed the tree next to the picnic table and we got back one evening to see a pretty white cat waiting for us.

And the Springs are just gorgeous!

Ibis in the water

The first evening we walked down there we saw a Barred Owl fly into a tree nearby.

You all know that's one of my favorite sightings.

And then we saw him 3 nights in a row in the same area.

I have about a hundred photos.

Want to see them all?

OK....OK!

How about this Little Blue Heron!

And here's a mosaic of the owl preening!

I'll share more photos of some of the hikes we took in days to come. Hope you'll come back to hike with me!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

  and Mosaic Monday HERE !

Such beauty of that springs as well as woods around it. Glad you had critters visit too. Is there a place to swim in that cold water?

Your word Goerges is perfect and I like Tom’s were glorious because that’s also perfect and it is absolutely spectacular I do love swampy places and that one is gorgeous. We used to go to Daytona on a regular basis twice a year for vacations and I always saw the Springs sign and wanted Bob to stop but he would not stop going or coming home

How beautiful, and yes, gorgeous is a great word! I love the Barred Owl so much, and of course seeing a deer "fly" by is always a treat. Oh, the Little Blue Heron is beautiful, and so is the cat. I loved it all! Thanks for sharing with us!

We have tried to stay there a few times, but it is always full and we are usually so fluid that we don't like to make reservations. We have been there though and it is a great park. Love those owl pictures!

Gorgeous is a great word. I think I overuse it myself. But a quick search gave me a tribe of other words that might be suitable for your lovely photos. How about: spectacular, splendid, superb, wonderful, grand, impressive, awe-inspiring, awesome, astounding, astonishing, amazing, stunning, breathtaking, stupendous, incredible, sensational, out of this world, and fabulous! I'm out of breath!

Thanks, Diane, for this lovely peek into your visit to Manatee Springs State Park.

What a lovely place to camp. Love seeing your trailer in the woods there. I'd call that first photo enchanted - the colour of the water, the light, the reflections of the trees all make the scene a bit magical. Who knows what might happen there in the light of the moon?

There is a Greek word that means unsurpassed and I can use it instead of wonderful is Insurmountable.

That is the most blue or turquoise water I´ve ever seen. Adorable colors and oh, the owls! What a great place to stay.
Yes, more, please!
If digital cameras had been affordable for normal people in 1995/1999 ... I could post 100 pics every day still today from our travels throughout Australia (6 and 7 months).

What a "prachtige" place to be. I loved seeing the owls in your photos. But also just that you do this and that you share it. It's nice to see how people appreciate nature. I find it very special that there are so many (large) animals to see. The heron then, what a "prachtig" creature.

Thanks for sharing. I call it "prachtig". That is a Dutch word and it means: somthing between beautiful, magnificent, splendid and gorgeous. You pronounce it like this: "PRAHKH-tikh".

Lots of Love,
Aritha

Dear Diane,
I first looked for German-language terms that came to mind about this place such as "hinreißend, märchenhaft, verzaubert, atemberaubend, ..." and then for translations: "ravishing, fairytale-like, enchanted, breathtaking, ..." How do you like the word "ravishing" instead of 'gorgeous'? It is very rarely used, perhaps it is threatened with extinction? Maybe it doesn't really fit, I'm not not a native English speaker. In my language I sometimes like to use words that hardly anyone uses anymore... How ever: You definitely discovered a wonderful place and I'm sure you enjoyed it with all your heart. (I know this because we also found such magical places on our trip...) I'm not surprised that you were fascinated by the owl - what a magnificent animal!
All the best and a good start into the new week, Traude

Oh that's beautiful Diane! If you are trying to get rid of your extra owl pictures, I'd be happy to pretend they're mine LOL! I'm putting this park on my to be visited list -- hoping that we get to do more in-state traveling next season.

Wow! What beautiful photos. I can see why you love this area so much. The Barred Owl photos are spectacular. Personally, I think this place looks like a little Eden.

Wow, those barred owl photos are fantastic! We hear them around here all the time, but rarely see one.

I don't think the Barred Owl was interested in you. He seemed bored. I guess he has seen it all living in a camping ground!
