‘The Surfman’ for Mosaic Monday

Looking out at the Atlantic Ocean from Canaveral National Seashore, you can be assured of seeing some beautiful scenes.

But this was a first for me.

I called him the ‘surfman’.

He came from the South and rode the waves,

paddling for all he was worth…

to arrive in front of me.

Surfman

It was amazing to watch him and of course, if you know me, you know that I talked to him when he came out. He said it was a sport lots of people did right up into their 80s.

Hmmmm…I’m not that ‘old’ but I think I would have needed to start before now! lol

These photos were taken a couple of weeks ago

at Canaveral National Seashore.

I’m joining Beautiful Sunday and

Hello Diane, it does look like a fun sport. Awesome photos! I wish I had good balance, it is not a sport for me. I will stick to walking, lol. Have a happy day and week ahead!

Hi Diane, I loved seeing the surfman. Is this called stand up paddle boarding? You captured some great photos, Diane. Happy Mosaic Monday!

Diane, I've seen a lot of surfers when visiting California, but I'd agree that I've never seen one on a board with a paddle. The board is also different than the normal surfing board. Thanks for sharing these shots!

What a great way to work on balance into old age. I have trouble walking without tripping at my age. Hope you are healing and feeling better Sis!

Extra Hugs,

Looks as if he surfed in from Colorado! How is that possible?

It's something I couldn't do as I have no balance. But I do love looking at these pictures. Good for him.
I hear it's pretty hot down there. It is getting humid here and a lot of rain.
I did get some rest over the week-end. My kind of busy is a good busy.

He is an outdoorsman, used to this type of activity and I would have needed to start in my teens I think...almost looks like a hermit! But he did have fun....

Well, with the news that Mary Lee is cruising the Atlantic coast this may not be the ideal time for water sports.Sure hope he stays safe.

Great pics! Wasn't there another blogger that used to do Mosaic Monday. Little Red something? Doesn't matter. Just piqued my curiosity. I always wonder what happens to people.

I've been dying to try paddle boarding, but not on ocean waves...I'm thinking a smooth and very calm lake!

Wow, his balance is great! While I was reading your post, (in my head) I was hearing the JAWS theme song!

My daughter visited your beautiful state a few years back. We stayed in Ash ville at a wonderful Spa a long ways out of town. We went there before and saw a beautiful garden and old home. I know this has to be the most beautiful State in the the US. We drove on some parkway in the mountains flowers were every. I would dearly love to go back one day. We are going to Oklahoma this year. There is a garden I read about in The Garden Gate I hope we can find it.

Our daughter and s-i-l have rented one of these boards with the paddle at the cottage the last couple of years. Unless you have really great balance, you can expect to get wet. Our 11 year old granddaughter can paddle around with the greatest of ease and makes it look easy. I have not tried it. :-)
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday Diane.

Fascinating but like you...I wold have had to start earlier plus I'm not a great swimmer and the ocean is scary to me. I love to watch it but I am not a water person.

MadSnapper said...

this is amazing, that he can do it in the ocean like that. i have seen them in bay's and photos of them in Hawaii, but not in waves. he is probably a surfer to. you must be close to Daytona, we are across the state 40 miles south of Tampa. thanks for stopping by my post today.

There are a lot of those guys out here - and lots of them take their dogs with them on the boards. Last weekend they had free lessons at the lake near our home - and NO I was not tempted. Love the views if surfman.

Paddle boarders are everywhere here, too. I admire their balance. We might try it this summer, but I'd want a wetsuit since the water is so cold here and I'd be sure to fall in at least once. It's supposed to be great exercise and good for balance. Great photos.

Hi Diane! I was so sorry to read about your terrible fall. I hope your face is healing nicely and you're not in anymore pain. I'm sure even with the bruises, that beautiful smile of yours continues to shine through! Feel better soon, sweet girl
...We have those paddle boarders over here too. It's fun to watch them, but I don't think I'll ever be trying it myself. Just the thought is hysterical!
Hugs to you always, Diane,
Paulette xo

These are cool pictures of the man riding the waves on his surf board. And of course I could totally relate, as my husband and son are surfers. I am wondering, is there a lot of surfing in Florida? These are great pictures, Diane.
