He was here…

and everywhere!

(you can tell that I didn’t have many decorations for this holiday! Only ONE! heehee!)

But we had FUN!

Proof that I SAVE everything!

It’s not really true…WELL…

maybe just a little bit true!

I found this bear at the Thrift store and fell in love with him.

 

His name is Tucker which endeared him to my heart!

He is sitting in the place of honor…

on my bed while I fold laundry!

So what did I save? The ribbon is some that my friend Brenda from the Rusty Thimble tied around a package she sent me last year. He had a big red bow but that just did not suit him.

He’s a First and Main bear.

Have you ever heard of those?

(And do you save every little bit of ribbon?)

‘Made in the U. S. A.’ Treasure!

I was so happy to find a beautiful planter at the Thrift Store yesterday.

I picked it right up and started to head for the check out (it was a QUICK trip).

I looked at the price on the way and saw it was $3 and immediately thought…WOW…that’s a LOT!

But after looking online a bit, I realize it was a GREAT deal! She’s stamped Designer and under that Made in the USA and has some wonderful glazing.

I’ve moved her around to a few locations in my bedroom looking for the perfect spot.

Princess Pressies!

I feel like a Lavender Princess today!

I moved my Lavender Dreams quilt from the back of the lanai sofa to the cushions to stretch out and enjoy my new Princess slippers.

My girlfriend Twyla from Two Crazy Crafters made them for me! She surprised me with this pressie! We have cold floors here in our home in Florida so they are just perfect. Usually I walk around with socks on but now I can be a Princess!

Lynn from Present Letters sent me a precious Christmas ornament that she made. I got this book from Amazon HERE and she gave me this as a Thank You.

I got them on the same day. So I declare myself Princess for the Day!

I think it probably can…times 2 !!!

I went to the Hospice Thrift Store this morning and an older gentleman was checking out but he only had a twenty and his bill was $1. She said she didn’t have change yet to accept a twenty. He went to the car but couldn’t find $1. I overheard the part where she said she would hold his purchases and he could come back later. When he walked out the door, I asked how much he owed and she said $1. So I said I would pay it and went out to his car and handed his bag through the window and told him it was gift. Back inside I started to shop….and here he came again. He kept going on and on with his gratitude and then started talking to the sales clerk. He was buying puzzles. He and his friends work puzzles every day from 3 to 5. Then as he was leaving he started thanking me again. When he was gone, the sales clerk thanked me, too! EEEE! It was only one dollar!

So what did I buy (with the rest of my money)?

This cute little lavender candle holder for 50 cents

 

and these tiny crocheted tea cups, 25 cents each.

Oh….another one dollar’s worth of happiness!

I know you’ve been to Sholom Park with me LOTS of times!

But yesterday was special!

Hubby took a quick photo of me so I made a new Profile pic with it. (I cropped this pic) The pine needles smelled SO good!

We saw the herons interacting.

That’s always interesting.

And the Koi were posing for photos….

some of them got up close.

This photo looks like it was taken in the water with them!

But what made this trip special?

Hubby got a new car this weekend!

(did somebody say ROAD TRIP?)

Black and White Photo Challenge

I’m taking part in Donna’s photo challenge this month.

I live in a part of the country that is very colorful so taking black and white photos is a real challenge.

 

I think barns look very neat taken in B & W.

Here I used Picassa to take the B & W and put a pencil sketch effect on it. I think it brings out the details!

These were taken at  Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park in Cross Creek, Florida.

This is the front porch where she wrote.

I took this one with a regular color setting and then took it to PicMonkey and used the focal B & W setting to just leave color on the vase of flowers. I thought it was a neat effect.

Here’s the one with color. (it almost looks like Sepia, doesn’t it?)

I took all of these photos with my little Nikon P 50.

To take B & W on this camera, Go to Manual Mode on top dial, Click Menu, Click Optimize Image and Click Black & White. You’re ready to snap photos!

Art Show in my neighborhood

We walked over to the Art Show last weekend.

It always amazes me at how many talented people there are right here in my community!

What fun to see all of the beautiful art, greet neighbors and meet new people.

We enjoyed it!

So what’s in the bag?

We bought one painting by Marilyn ‘Mickey’ Scott entitled “Denizens of the Deep”.

This was the perfect spot in our living room to enjoy it!

It’s inspiring, isn’t it?

If it takes a village….

I found one!

I bought two of these houses last December at the Thrift Store.

Most of you remember the Firehouse (Vee helped me decide that’s what it must be!)

and then last week I found a few more.

I’m not sure what I should do with them.

 

Do they look good on these shelves? Should I glue seashells to the roofs?

This one didn’t have a proper roof!

(some of them are fixer uppers! heehee!)

I’m just not sure what to do with them but they are handmade and I have a weakness for anything handmade! Any ideas?

“Couples”

I wanted to share a few more photos of Rainbow Springs Pioneer Days.

It was a beautiful day here in Florida!

And it really brought a lot of people out to the Park.

I noticed a few couples around and thought about how sweet it is to share the fun with someone you love.
