I would be "skeered" too, and I already have pierced ears (just one per ear)!!!

One in each ear now, had two in college but I haven't worn any earrings in the seconds in years! Good for you! Looks like a great day!

I had it done back in the 70s while at work...yes work! One of our pharmacist wanted to see if you could pierce ears using needles instead of how they were doing it at the Mall. He put a numbing agent on my ear lobes & it worked perfect...but ...he did them crooked. I've never had them redone so I just cock my head to make them even! dot

Hi,
Glad you got the courage up to do something you had been wanting to do...I am sure you will enjoy adding to your earring collection with cute little studs for your ears. I had my ears pierced when I was about 16 years old...so so many years ago. I did "sleepers" because the alternative in those days, as we know, was not as quick and painless as it is today. A lady that I used to babysit for who had pierced ears marked my ears with a pen and then placed the sleepers in for me. I had not thought about those "sleepers" in a long time until today. I only have one piercing in each ear. Unfortunately, one of the holes in my ear is larger due to wearing the heavy hooped earrings in the early seventies. Now, I have to wear lighter earrings and go with clip on if they are heavy. I lived in Houston 18 years so, I have lots of turquoise and silver clip ons that I still wear. Love turquoise with white in the summer. I also wear it a lot with black. We are all proud of you for being a brave gal! Beach looks pretty! Have a great day and enjoy your new look! xoxo Kim

I have one hole in each ear done by a coworker with a needle and a potato. One hole is lower than the other too but that's the way it's going to stay...lol...Always drove my poor mother crazy that one earring was lower than the other. Don's ears are pierced so he can wear his anchors...it's a sailor thing! Loved your pretty photo's too.

You sure are brave. I think it hurts more than when we were teenagers:) I had mine pierced when I was 19. Then, when I was about 28 (many moons ago) I had a second hole put in each ear. I wore a stud in those holes for several years and then stopped, don't remember why. Actually, I haven't thought about this in such a long time.
OK, I just tried putting an earring in the second hole as I'm sitting here. Ouch, actually, it went through one, but not the other. Glad you finally had it done!

I have two piercings in each ear too :-) Loved your comment on my post, you look maaavelous, dahling, don't kid yourself.

Well, I don't have any. I got them once and they just grew back together. I'm not much of a jewelry gal. But I'm so glad you treated yourself to that!

I got the top cartlidge of one of my ears pierced a few years ago and it was the most painful thing EVER!!! I couldn't even lay my head on the pillow on that side. I tried for 2 weeks to tough it out and then finally just gave up. I took the earring out and let it grow up. NEVER AGAIN!!! Congrats on braving a second piercing!

While in college the "sleeper" method was used. I haven't thought about it in quite some time. Every day I enjoy a pair of earrings. :)

The crocuses are now up.
Enjoy the sun!

Ouch! You are very brave! I've had my ears pierced since age 13. I'm not so creative with jewelry and usually wear the same gold pieces each day.
I'm so envious you can go to the beach on a warm day!

Congratulations on the piercing!!! My mother in law had hers done when she was in her mid 50's. I have 6 piercings in my ears. It used to be 7 but I let one close.

That was cute. I didn't get mine pierced until in my 20's. You'll love it. I have just each ear pierced once...less is more! ;D

Just two. Plenty for me. I was skeered and I have a long memory. The first time was 1978. Cute post.

LV said...

I only have one. If I had it to do over, I would not do it now. I had mine done when I was young. My ears got infected and it was terrible.

Celestina Marie said...

Hi Diane, What a great post. You don't look "skeered"
I got my ears pierced when I was 13 and then got a second hole in 1994
I love to wear a little stud in the second piercing and change around the main earrings each day.
The beach pics look so inviting.
We are warming up and I can't wait to get better and garden again.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs, Celestina Marie

Oh, you are too cute! I'm pretty chicken too, and only have one in each ear. I like the look of two, but I am a skeered too! LOL! Love these shots! Looks like a fun day. Funny, I work in surgery, but when it comes to "me" I'm a fraidy cat! :-)

Hello! Looks like it was a fun filled day for you. I have one piercing per ear. I had it when I was still a baby. In my country, that's the common practice. Females are pierced while they are still babies. My friends experimented on piercing among themselves and Until today, I am afraid to get my second pierce. hehehe

Donna said...

You WERE brave! And WHY are you smiling??? I had my ears pierced when I was in college. Went to a doctor to have it done. Hurt like the dickens!!!!!!!!! I screamed, LOL! Tears were rolling down my face by the second one. And they got infected. I've enjoyed wearing dozens of earrings over the years, but there is NO WAY I would ever go through it again!

Shellbelle said...

In the photo with a lady on each side, you have a look that says, "Okay, let's just get this over with!"

I am not a jewelry wearing, way once in a while I'll put something on, but it's usually seashell related, of course. I didn't pierce my ears until I was 37, but did the doubles on the same day. About a year later, I did the one at the top of one ear. That one never healed correctly and would get infected all the time. PAIN!!!! I wore earrings for a few years and stopped by the time I was 45.

I wear my grandmother's chunky bracelets on special family days, I love them.

Congrats on your new holes!!!!!!

You look so relaxed in the photos. I had my ears pierced the first time 43 years ago, I was in third grade. Very few earrings to choose from. My mom pierced them with a sewing needle. I had them pierced a second time five years later. I usually only wear one set of earrings, sometimes I wear a vine on one ear with hoops in both ears and a gold stud in the other ear. I am still glad I have my ears double pierced.

Congrats, are we going to be seeing a tattoo next? LOL.

You rock for doing what you have always wanted to do, and now having the courage to do it.

What a hoot you are...how cute! I am so glad you did that for yourself. You know I can't leave home without earrings on...I have had mine pierced since I was 5. I have two holes in one ear..I had two in the other, but it closed up on me. Your outdoor pics are gorgeous from you walk.

Emily said...

Wow! Good for you--I have 3 in one ear and 2 in the other. It really hurts to put the 3rd one in because I never do. It may be closed by now. I did it myself in high school. I also used to have one in upper cartlidge of the one with 3. So...at one time I had 4 in my left ear and 2 in the right. That was the wildest I ever got though LOL!

Well, I have already answered your question in a later post on the sunset. But I would like to add here just cuz, that I pierced all my daughters ears AND their friends. I would never do that today though. Thankfully every single one turned out perfect. Working in a hospital probably helped to me know how to take every precaution. NO piercing guns back then.
How much easier it is today! :)

You look so cute sitting there. Wish I could show my legs like that, but those days are over for me.

Tina said...

Good for you getting your ears pierced again! I've had mine pierced since I was about 13 I think. I had my second hole pierced to show my daughter it didn't hurt. Then I had the cartilage in my left ear pierced when my daughters friend was afraid to get hers pierced..so again, I did it to prove it didn't hurt. I still have all the piercings, but I was happy when the girls were brave enough to get pierced without me!

Diane, you'll LOVE having your ears pierced! I had mine done 'way long ago and haven't gone a day without wearing earrings! You'll have a new collecting passion! lol! I always watch for the sales at Kohl's and other big dept. stores for bargains!
And then, there are craft show jewelry artisans....
Oh, girlfriend, what fun awaits you!
Congratulations!
Hugs, Diane
