It’s time for Beach Balls and Flip Flops...

Remember the last week of school

and the anticipation of summer vacation?

DSCN4346

Summer is my MOST favorite season!

I love everything about it!

DSCN4348

But when I shop...

I usually buy things that are on clearance

OR ‘out of season’!

DSCN4345

I was so surprised to find a lap quilt at the

thrift store and I scooped it up!

DSCN4344

Not great for these 90 degree days

but won’t it be perfect in the Fall?

And it has ‘summer time’ colors!

It’s hand quilted...OH MY! That makes my heart sing!

Time to relax and enjoy these last few days of May!

DSCN4342

I’m joining Vintage Thingy Thursday

and Time Travel Thursday

and Thrifty Thursday

and Thrifty Things Friday

and Sunburnt Cow

for all of the FUN linky parties!

What makes your heart sing this week?

Oh, I read the Bobbsey Twins with my older Aunts. I saw this very copy of the series at the thrift store and passed on it, now I wish I had got it. Fun finds and really pretty lap quilt.

I do remember the anticipation of summer vacations! No school and lots of time beach camping with my family when we were very young. Still my favorite thing to do, but it's too hot and humid here for summer camping, Now I'm more of a Spring and Late Fall gal, perfect beach weather for this old gal.

I LOVE that book and if I saw it at a thrift store, I'd snap it up faster than you can say, "Let's go to the beach!"

Love your lap quilt and the colors are wonderful. Hand-stitched? You lucky girl!

I have not seen that book in forever! There is an excitement about summer that's like no other. You scored big on the quilt. I always buy things out of season including clothes. It's the best way to shop.

Lucky you for finding such a pretty quilt, and such a cute picture of the squirrel. I'm ready for summer and already have my flipflops on!

What a great find! My girls had their last day of school yesterday. They were ready! It rained all day here though, so it wasn't a very "summery" day. Today though, the sun is shining and the birds are singing, and a softball game tonight!! Let summer begin :) I don't like the heat and humidity of summer though. I'd croak without my AC! LOL :)

Hi LD, happy summer and beach weather to you. I'm with you, summer is my favorite, followed by spring. Even if it is too hot outside in summer, I stay inside with the air conditioning then. I just love the cheerful weather, blooms, the sun shining, which always makes me happy.

I so remember being let out of school on the last day before summer...my most favorite school day of the year. ; )

Oh wow! I have not seen the Bobbsey Twins in so long! I think I must have read every one of them when I was little. Spring and summer are my favorite seasons! I love your new quilt! Great colors. I too would have scooped it up! Squirrels crack me up with their determination and antics to get into any and all bird feeders!

Hope you are having a great day!

I had so forgotten about the Bobbsey Twins. Fun to see a picture of it. I, too, love summer ... maybe the last few days of May when the weather is still a bit cool.

There was always a thrill in the air at the end of school days and the excitement of summer vacation. Miss that feeling!

Ah, summer...my favorite season, too! I love the beach, and I live in flip flops! Even in the summer, if my room is cool enough, I will cover up with a light weight quilt. Your lap quilt would be perfect for nap time.

I LOVE your quilt! It would be a perfect match for my living room!
Sad to say, we aren't visiting family in Homosassa this year to go to the beach, but we are going to N Carolina so I'll see some beach there! Summer time wouldn't be the same without a swim in the ocean!

Whoops, Bobbsey Twins were before my time, though I've definitely heard of them. :)

I definitely loved summer as a child cuz then I didn't have to go to school. Now, I prefer the cooler weather, though I do miss the beach.

Love that lap quilt, Diane!

Thanks so much for linking up to the party! I featured you over at the Sunburnt Cow.

The Bobbsey Twins At The Seashore - when I young, I read my copy of that and the other Bobbsey Twin books until they practically fell apart. It always amuses me when people refer to two guys or two girls as "Bobbsey twins", because of course, both sets of the Bobbsey twins were fraternal twins. When I hear someone say that, I always assume that they never read the books or they would know better.

Love the print, too. Did you get it at thrift shop?

I changed my pictures and mantel over to a summer seaside theme last weekend. It might look odd out here in the prairies, but it makes me feel a little closer to the east coast, so I do it every summer.
