How do I look?

We love this line from what we consider a ‘classic’ movie, Multiplicity!

Michael Keaton asks his wife, played by Andie McDowell...”How do I look?”

And she says, “CRAZY!!!”

We say that all the time and laugh like it is an original line or hilarious joke!

But I do feel rather ‘dorky’ posing in front of my ‘new house’!

PMDSCN3602

The painters are finished and the house looks so pretty! But I think I need to answer a few questions...and fess up!

I can’t take credit for painting it lavender...it was lavender when we bought the house 7 years ago! And we have loved it. The trim, front door and garage doors are all alabaster.

PMDSCN3599

And yes....we have screen doors that slide over on our garage. We leave the garage doors open during the day and just close the screens....it’s a Florida thing! I still need to take a photo with the garage closed!

And for those that are worried that our house doesn’t fit in...it’s Florida!

Nana Diana said... “Oh- I love it! A lavender house! It makes me think of Miami Beach with the pastel houses in a row. What fun!”

I quoted my girlfriend, Diana! And yes....all of the houses in our neighborhood are pastels....blues, pinks, yellows, some beige and white, too. And even a few more lavender houses. This is typical of Florida...light and cool!

PMDSCN3597

Thanks so much for all of your sweet comments. It’s always fun to share something special and have all of your friends happy for you!

The photos were taken at sunset....that’s the best time to get out when it’s cooled down some!

I’m joining Katherine’s Corner this morning!

Did you get to walk or ride your bike today?

I love it! Lavender with a screened garage sounds perfect for Florida to me. With that screen door on your garage you can use it like a porch, right? We should all do that! I bet you did just fall in love with that neighborhood when you first saw it.

By the way, you always inspire me to want to walk or ride a bike.

I love it!!... I even love the screen garage door!.. never seen one before.

An edging of purple and white petunias all around the base of your shrubs would be GORGEOUS along the front of the house.

I love, love your new home and the color is just beautiful! Never heard of the screened garage doors, but I have to tell you I absolutely love the idea!

See? I know you aren't in Miami but doesn't it remind you of that? When we lived in Florida we lived in an area of pastel houses...each lovely and sweet. Our NEW next-door neighbors moved in. They were from Massachusetts. They painted their house the sane color as their OLD house had been. Dark red with black trim. Every car that went by slowed down to look at THAT house. So funny.

We had those screen door things for our garage doors, too. I sure do miss Florida! xo Diana

I love your house! It's so pretty! If my house didn't have such a "wild" coral color on the inside I would consider lavender for the outside for sure. You don't look dorky!

We have the garage screen, too :) It's a Florida thing.

That is awesome! I get grief for painting my door red! Love the screens on the garage doors - esp since we leave ours up when we are home and birdies like to fly in and flap about. You look perfect posing in your pink shirt in front of your purple house!

Thanks for making sure I saw this post Diane, and the last one! You lucky gal to have a lavender coloured house, yes I'm envious. :-)
I've often thought I wished all our brick was a light yellow and how nice lavender accessories, plants etc. would look with it. Instead, it's an orangey colour that I really hate but the rest of the house is perfect for two.

It must be a pale lavender because it looks more gray from here. But I love the contrast in the trim. Very nice and well kept...wish I could say the same about mine! LOL! Mine is orange brick which limits my color choices but this year I painted my front door that fresh apple green and I like the contrast. You are SO right....in hotter climates it feels cooler to have lighter colors both on your person and your house!

I had never heard of those garage door screens until I saw another blog a few years ago. She too was from Florida and had them on her garage. In fact, she explained they didn't park their cars in the garage, but showed how they had the garage set up as an extra room with a tv, a couch and chair, rug, and exercise equipment.

Basically, what the rest of us would consider a "den" was out in her garage, but she said the weather was nice enough that they kept those screens up and lived out in the garage every night to chat with the neighbors.

Your house looks very nice, and I like the fun color. Bet it's easy for people on your street to tell others where they live since they can point to the pretty colors.

Have a great weekend!

That is a great photo, Diane! Once a year my hubby takes a photo of me somewhere in our front yard. It's a great record of what is going on. :)

That's a good idea of a screen door for the garage in the warmer states.
