I love to read and this summer I’ve been in the mood for mysteries. Right now I am reading books by Nancy Atherton.
They are light reads...fun mysteries, that you can pick up at the library....perfect for long summer days.
We saw “One for the Money” this weekend. It’s based on the first book by Janet Evanovich. I love her books and read this one awhile back. The movie was good and stayed very close to the book...which I like! I fell in love with Stephanie Plum...the main character. She is played by Katherine Heigl and she is absolutely perfect for the role! (and yes, that’s her 4th book under the dvd)
I found this Bible at a book sale and it’s one I’ve never seen. It’s an Olive Pell Bible. Olive Pell was an artist and a poet. She published this Bible on her own and in the forward she explains, “In it the magnificent Elizabethan English of the King James Version has not been tampered with in any way. Not one word has been changed. It has only been reduced in bulk to it’s purest spiritual essence.”
It’s interesting and I will enjoy reading it for awhile. I’ll keep my complete Bible handy, too so I can look up scriptures she’s left out. But I like it and I’m glad to have a copy of it. (published in 1952)
I always like to have 2 or 3 books going at the same time. I even found a Brad Thor book at the thrift store! I can’t wait to read it, too!
What are you reading right now?

I love reading to!! I just finished the Steve Jobs biography.
Wow, you have a lot going on in terms of reading material. Very diverse and interesting. I like short stories as well. Short and sweet :)
I'm reading a new book on Apologetics that I won on a blog. It's quick and easy.
I'd like to find some fiction that's not all fluff yet not too deep either. Something thought-provoking...
I LOVE to read and when it's this hot I read a lot!! I'm reading a Michael Connelly book right now. I have read all the Stephanie Plum books and saw the movie, it was OK but not great to me.
hugs, Linda
You have a good reading list! I've never seen that Bible before, it looks lovely. I just ordered the Holman HCSB Version and Apologetic study guide to go with it. It is very easy to understand. And you can't go wrong with Aunt Dimity!
Also some old Ellis Peters paperbacks came in the mail.
Happy Reading!
I'm re-reading 'Being Human' by Ranald Macaulay and working my way through 'The Everlasting Man' by G.K. Chesterton.
Have fun reading!
Summer reading is always my joy...just started reading The Hunger Games...my daughter highly recommended this series. xoxoxo
Happy reading.
I love reading too! Right now I am reading "Deadly Appraisal" It is a Josie Prescott Antiques Mystery. It is a fun set of mystery books!
Blessings

I love reading and am about to start another Lee Child book, One Shot. Just finished Girl Gone which is on the bestseller list. Reese Witherspoon has bought the movie rights to it! Ann
I love Janet Evanovich. I still want to see that movie. I seem to be reading work related materials lately on flipping instruction. Nothing fun. I miss my light reading. The University is gearing up for fall semester. I'm not ready for summer to end, but I'll gladly take cooler temps.
Hi Diane,
I've been so busy that I haven't had much time to read, but I'm reading Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks when I have a little free time.
hugs,
Cindy
I am reading "Tulia" about some folks who were wrongly convicted in a small Texas town. I still have an interest in criminal justice having once been a nurse in the Dept. of Corrections.
Mainly knitting and crochet patterns...trying to decide what to do next! Joan
Sad to say, I have not picked up a book since blogging. Plenty of mags here and there but no books. Looks like you have some good reads there.
Just finished the 3rd book in Nora Robert's Bride Quartet. Yes, I'm a sappy romantic and just love the way she writes! That Bible looks quite interesting. Couldn't imagine having 3 of them going on at one time!!

Great advice and information!!! Thank you.... I'm just having a tough time reading everybody's blogs.
Oh how much nice reading material! :) Let us know how it all goes! :D
Hugs,
I am like you, I have a few books on the go all the time. Sometimes one isn't worth committing the time to read it, and I will move to the next one.
So you liked the movie, loved the series, read all of them, will have to check out the movie.

, I have several books on the go as well ( on cd of course) I listen to them off and on, so does garry, good thing we like pretty much the same books, if not I put in the ear phones,
I'm rereading The Path, by Laurie Beth Jones because I'm leading a book study on it for a church group. It's about finding your mission statement for work and life. There are a few things about the book I'm not crazy about, but mostly it's fantastic at helping you hone in on what your mission in life is. We only have one life and it's short. Gotta figure out the reason God has us here and get busy! Other than that, blogs of all kinds keep me busy, including two of my own I keep up. I'd like to drop everything and just read a good story for a while for sure! Thanks so much for stopping in and leaving me such a great note at Quirky Vistas. I'm now following you because we Florida girls have to stick together! By the way, what's for dinner? I love Chocolate Mousse...just so you know. Feel free to have that for dessert! Ha!

Great books - I have read a couple of them. My grandson has to get a Bible for school and it has to be the Kings James Version - we are thinking of getting the New King James Version. Any suggestions? sandie
I just picked up a book called The Weird Sisters...we'll see how it is. I also want to re-read Apple Tree Lean Down this summer. It is the best book I have ever read. I seldom read a book twice. I think this will be my 4th reading of it. xo Diana
What finds! I also like to keep a stack of books going at one time. I'm presently reading: "Whatever Happened to Heaven" by Dave Hunt,
"Free Inside and Out" Marily Meberg and Luci Swindoll, "Gideon's Press" by JJ Marrie ( picked up at a thrift store) and just finished "How to Stop the Pain" by Dr. James B. Richards (highly recommended) Thanks for asking and happy reading my Lavender friend!
I have read all the Evanovich books but not seen that movie, must do that soon. Reading Kiss of the Bees by J.A. Jance right now.
I love to come across good books at the resale shop. I have many that I've yet to read. Right now, I'm doing a lot of blog reading and trying to catch up! There are so many interesting blogs and yours is, of course, one of them. Glad I found it. Happy reading!!
Wow you have a lot of reading going on. I am doing two devotionals. One is JOY and the other is called Stuck. I just finished the Half Stitched Quilting Club. :)!! And now I am reading Twelve Days.
I love to read.
Joy,
Trace

I'm actually reading an old Victorian novel by Wilkie Collins called A Woman in White and really loving it. On the side there is always a motivational book ... this one, The Power of Focus by Jack Canfield.
And ... I may be the last person on the planet to have just finished the Hunger Games trilogy.
Thanks for asking,
Mary
haha, you got another Brad Thor book! Love him! You should enjoy that book. I am reading "The Night Sky: A Journey from Dachau to Denver and Back" regarding her parents history during WWII in Europe. It is quite interesting!
I seen that movie too. It was so witty and funny. I never read the book though. Happy reading!
Oh I am reading Mary Oliver and Billy Collins' poetry and my FRENCH BIBLE! AND....a French novel in French!
Dearest Lavender Dreamer, thank you so much for your visit! KEEP THINKING OF THE BEACH! Anita
I can only read one book at a time. I just bought the new Danielle Steel book that came out on Tues. She and Debbie Macomber are my very favorite authors.
Hello Diane
The Bible you found looks fascinating.
Like you, I have several books on my bedside table. I am reading Wuthering Heights again and loving it.
Also Joaquin Sorolla's art book which I picked up when in Madrid.
Hope you are keeping cool.
Helen xx

I love to see what you're reading! Looks like some good books! I'm reading "My Name is Mary Sutter" by
Robin Oliveira. Have you read it? I was finally able to join another town's library...it's wonderful, I think I could live there!
I love the flamingo!
