I. Go. Slow…or is it S L O W L Y?

With some of my projects, I drag things out. When I’m sewing, I like to zip zip zip and get things finished. But when I work on my Art Journal, I take my time. I’ve had these 2 pages laid out for a week. Every time I go to my desk, I move things around. So today, I decided…enough was enough! Time to glue things down properly. And you know? It’s a great feeling.

These pages are dedicated to some of my blog buddies. I have tags and cards from other friends, too but these were the ones that worked best on these two pages. Included are tags and notes from

 Marcia, Linda, Kat and Jesse

and Laura, Lila, Marty and Donna!

And special thanks to Jill for inspiring me!

The thrifty part of this post, is that I used things I had. I bought one package of stickers a long time ago and the rest are pretty tags and notes from my friends.

I don’t like to spend a lot on little elements for my journal. I like to use what I have. It’s more of a challenge but makes it more personal, too.

I write in a journal every day of my life and have for years. So an art journal is a fun challenge.

(this is ‘me’… heehee!)

Are you working on a journal this summer?

It is amazing that a gal who blogs also keeps a journal and a scrapbook. I love it! I do neither. Your scrapbook is so cool...much better than my grandfather's fishing basket filled to overflowing!

Haha, I see Marty in the lower right corner! The rascal sure goes get around! Thanks for including a little snippet from me, LOL. This is a really neat idea.

Diane, I just love this! That is so similar to how I envision my "dream board". (little snippets of things that inspire me)

You are so creative--and thank you for including me amongst your page of friends.

I am going to start a journal. My daughter made me a blank journal 2 yrs ago--now I know what to do with it!xo, Linda

Lately it seems my medical journal is the only one I am writing in. Bummer. I have a home journal, where I document anything that gets repaired or done around our house, this includes the lawn and garage. Every time I go to the dr. I write it in my med journal. I have a personal journal but have missed writng in it forever. I think it helps people to write things down...then someone will want it for their treasures later in life.LOL. xoxo,Susie

Your journal is lovely. I used to keep a diary and a scrapbook when I was a girl. Not as much time for that sort of thing these days. But I do have a special box for me and each of the kids, where we keep letter from special people, favorite school projects, etc...

Life has been so crazy for me that I'm not doing anything creative at all. I need to get all my supplies moved over this coming week. I want to get my Smash journal I bought last summer out and start working on it. I want to start with the gift of the trip to Paris from my daughter and continue with the planning and then the trip. So I best get some stuff done on it since the trip is only about a month away! Yippee! Love you art journal. I want to do more of that once I get things settled in the new place.
hugs,
Linda

It is charming. I am trying to keep a garden journal but am not keeping up with all the plants I keep planting and relocating.

This is so interesting and looks fun to do! You are very creative, Diane! My project that I started months ago, and haven't really done much with lately, is using scrapbooks and putting clippings of recipes, decorating ideas, etc, that I've torn out of magazines in them. I have sooo many magazines that I need to get rid of and thought this was a good way to save those clippings. I've decorated the outside of the scrapbooks with a collage of cute pics that I've clipped. Now just to get the rest done! Have a nice day!!

What fun! I'm anxious to help the girls get started with their scrapbooks of our recent trip out west. Now, I just need the time. Our weekends keep getting filled up with other things. This might end up being a winter project when the snow is blowing around again. Thank you for sharing!

Very cute pages! Using tags, etc from friends is a fab idea! Very clever. Yes, for the first time in decades I decided to keep a journal this year. Just kind of keeping track of daily happenings-- I think future generations will be rather bored!

Love how you embellished those pages using what you have. (I would run out, buy a bunch of stuff, and have it sit around for months. Trying hard to break old, bad habits!) Great job, Diane, and a wonderful way to remember your friends. xo

Doing a page in an art journal brings a feeling of closure or completeness to the moment!
.....until the next page starts to emerge, LOL!

What a wonderful thing, Diane. I consider my blog my journal at this time. I always kept one as a child. Always fun to go back and relive certain times. I love this idea! Ann

I decided to do an art journal/smash book for 2013. It's coming along nicely. I haven't had time to work on it lately, but have the items and pictures saved and ready for when I can get back in there and work on it.

It's a good feeling to get those lose ends tied, isn't it. Love your journal, Diane. I keep most of my bloggy friends' notes and goodies either hanging from Madame Torso (jewelry torso), a burlap bulletin board above my art table, or a pretty shoe box I love to pull out and go through over and over. I especially love the goodies you've made which I can wear on my wrist and take along with me on fresh market Saturdays. :)
I enjoyed catching up with your posts today. LOVE the black swan. I would frame it or make it into a card. I like the very first image, even with the water reflected that way because it makes it look like a painting. I'd make postcards.
Always fun visiting with you, sis.

This is a great post. I still remember things from my French class in high school too. Quite a few things acutally. I don't remember much from college Spanish though, isn't that weird? :)

No journal for me this summer. I'm terrible at keeping up w/them. :)

Happy rest of the weekend to you!
