Let’s Learn to Read!

I love children’s books and have quite a few.

ChildBksFrameIMG_4632

(dolls and books…I love them!)

I’m trying to make sense of some of my collections and decided to dedicate the small bookcase to some of my children’s books. Most of them are in my doll room but I’ve gathered some of my favs for these shelves.

I love old readers from the ‘50s and ‘60s, when I was a girl.

And don’t you love this little child reading? It’s heavy plaster, I’ve used it for a book end on other shelves.

A glimpse of the bottom shelf!

Yesterday I took a load to the old thrift store. I ‘shopped’ a little of course and found a few more Golden books for my collection.

Have you ever seen this Flower book?

Pretty illustrations…

and then someone found an ink pen and had fun on a few pages! lol

Did you love learning to read and taking

part in summer reading programs?

You have a lovely collection of old books and I can see why they are out on display. When I was younger I loved to read! I remember sneaking money to school when I was in 2nd grade so that I could buy a book - shame on me! But that's how much I loved and still love to read :) Thanks for sharing with us.

Hugs!

I love reading to my grands, just like I did to my daughters. Reading opens up a whole world and I want them to love it as much as I do. Your area that you've made is just precious. I love that Flower book; what a lucky find, XOXO

You and me too! I love vintage children's books and have been collecting them for years. I have huge sets of the 'We Were There...' (famous events in history) books and the 'The Story Of...' (which are biographies of famous people in history.

Love your displays. I hope your dolls are using phonics to learn to read. :-)

You find the neatest things at your local thrift store! We're not so lucky, LOL. Our shops resemble a third-world flea market!

I love reading and learning to read was important for sure. My girls loved books also and we always had tons to read. You know my Tiger loves his books. Your 'older' readers are precious and I bet I learned from some of them myself!

I have a feeling you & I could have a lot of fun looking at one another's books. :)
The little chalk figure is precious.
I have a few flower books, but I don't think I have that one. I'll have to check. If not, I'll be on a treasure hunt at the thrift shops.

I love children's books too! I have saved some of the special books from my children's collections as they grew up...when I was little I loved Mike Mulligan's Steam Shovel. As I got older I loved the Happy Hollisters and Nancy Drew...wish I had hung on to them.

Just love your little shelf and seeing the old books and the dolly :)

I loved reading and knew how before I went to school. School moved a little slow for me, though I loved reading aloud in my little reading group. We were the bluebirds. ;D I also have a little collection of readers and sometimes I remember a story. Funny how one can get that little tug on the heart strings. Oh and I have a few books decorated with fine ink drawings, too. Your bookshelves look wonderful! You've been practicing.

I was a page scribbler. My mom used to say 'I hope you have kids who are just like you and then you'll see" and I did have kids like me - now all I see are scribbles in the books!
LOVE your finds and your bookshelves.

Hi Diane, you would have loved all the children's books that I had when my daughter was little. I had so many of them! We still have a lot that we refuse to get rid of! I love the syrup you put in your iced coffee and I'm going to try it. Take care.

I still remember the first time Mom took me to the library, I couldn't wait to read what I took home to get back and get more books! I've always loved to read.

The Flower book is a different one, never seen that one! I've found a couple of the same ones just lately that you did!

My goodness that is a cute book with writing in it! Made me chuckle! I know everyone like books in good condition, but when I see the remnants of a child inside it just makes me happy. No. I never seen the flower book. I bet it is full of wonderful illustrations! Love the book end and the Annie!! It is a great way to display your collection!

Susie
