Let’s see what we have in the lanai today!
It’s warm today but hey….it’s summer time in Florida!
I love going to the library and choosing books from all over the place. It’s fun to discover new authors.
But it’s also nice to check out a book that a friend recommends. My girlfriend from The Freckled Hen just read this book and I’m already about halfway through it. It’s hard to put down! I’ve been on an ‘Old West’ Cowgirl kick this summer anyway and this book fits in perfectly.
Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls is a True-Life Novel based on the incredible life of Lily Casey Smith. She was born in 1901 so she sees a lot of changes in her lifetime and leads an exceptional life! I would highly recommend this book and this fantastic author, who also wrote, The Glass Castle.
I’m joining Ricki Jill for Literary Friday.

Sadly I have not done a whole lot of reading this summer. I purchased Pride and Prejudice to reread it--since I have not read it since high school and I loved it WAY back then. But I got to page 3 early summer and never got back to it. Just a busy time for me right now. Enjoy your new book finds!

I just love having a stack of books to read. I can never have enough.
Your side table looks lovely Diane!
89 degrees F? Just melting thinking about it!
what a beautiful room, so cosy, I love every aspect of this room,
Hello,Diane: I am reading Agatha Christie books...
what do you think?? Your pics are awesome!!fresh look everywhere...
XOXO
Thanks for including me in your post! I hope you like the book! I just returned from the library and for the first time used the goodreads app on my iPad as I walked through the rows of books, it was very handy although I filled my bag way too fast!
Hello,my friend :I sent you a picture to your email, so you can choose yourself.Thank you for your sweet idea.
Have a southern great day!!!
I haven't had a chance to do much reading at all this summer except for educational materials. I did read The Glass Castle a few years ago and thought it was great! xo Diana
You know I love to read and I'm always looking for a new author! Enjoy!
hugs,
Linda
That book looks good! I end up reading more blogs than books! Shame on me!
It's always interesting to learn what others are reading. I seem to have 4 books on the go at the moment. I must stop and finish just one. It depends on my mood which I read. If I'm stressed I need a Mills & Boon romance not something with a twisted plot! Do you read depending on your mood? Joan
I love to read too and I love books so much.
Sweet book.
Big hugs x
I always feel very rich when I have a stack of books to read!
I just finished Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver and really enjoyed it.
I love to read but haven't had much time to read over the last month or so. Great post!
I loved that book (read her first one, chose the second because of that, was surprised cuz it's so different, but loved loved it too.)
It's not too much hotter on your lanai than it is in our Oregon yard today..but probably a lot more humid. Enjoy!
I love to read, but between it taking me 2 days to do all my yard work and the 2-3 days a week I babysit my grandson and the spare minutes I have working on my mom's African Flower Blanket....there just aren't enough minutes/hours in the day. I am doing good to read a passage or 2 in my Bible. Thank you though for pointing out some books you are currently reading and passing on the reviews to us. Maybe when the weather gets cooler and the yard work calms down I can pick up a few books and enjoy some quiet time.
(((HUGS))) Susanne :)
I see you have rattan furniture on the lanai..I love rattan. I think I'll try to find that book at the library. xoxo,Susie
Looks like you got yourself a good stack! I read Half-Broke Horses a year or so ago. It was an interesting read! I download a lot of books from the library and from Amazon (most of those are free). I just started a new one from the Amazon free list and it's terrific! It's called "Medicine Men: Extreme Appalachian Doctoring."
