Cute Clothes!

I like clothes…lots of clothes…CUTE clothes!

When I was growing up my mother called me a ‘clothes horse’!

IMG_5745

I have always enjoying looking through the clearance racks and buying things at the end of the season for really good, discounted prices.

IMG_5736

But I NEVER thought I would buy my clothes at the Thrift Store! (I hope that doesn’t sound snooty! lol)

IMG_5725

The Hospice Thrift store goes through each item of clothing and doesn’t put anything out that is worn or has a stain. They donate ‘worn’ clothing to a local church. (this black shirt was brand new!)

IMG_5727

So it’s much more fun to look through clothing that is in great shape at amazing prices. Here in Florida we dress very casual….tee shirts and shorts or capris and sandals are the order of the day. Add some pretty jewelry to dress things up.

IMG_5733

And the prices? Most of the tee shirts are $1.50. You just can’t beat that! Well, except that I get a discount for being a frequent shopper!

IMG_5740

I look for brand names (I like Talbots, Chicos, J Crew, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren and my favorite…Carribean Joe) and I usually try things on. (sometimes sizes can be tricky!) I tried on this top and skirt together and paid $3.50 for BOTH!

IMG_5743

I thought of Linda at A La Carte when I found this top. She’s traveling to Paris in a few days! I have the top, Linda…can I come, too?

IMG_5744

I’m joining Thrifty Things Friday!

Also Katherine’s Corner,

Ivy and Elephants,

and Jann for Share Your Cup !

IMG_5738

(for lounging around the house)

I think it’s fun to add new things to my wardrobe and keep my closet updated by donating clothing that I don’t like any more or doesn’t fit quite right. It’s all about comfort and feeling good….and being ‘cute’ at any age…don’t you think?

You are always dressed so cute!! I love all your 'new' shirts and yes put that Paris shirt on and join me!!! I have shopped thrift stores for clothes and I agree you can't beat the prices. I too find items still with tags on them and brand names hardly worn. Oh and I agree...cute at any age and that's us!!
Thanks for sharing at TTF!

hugs,
Linda

Oh, my goodness! I love your style! I LOVE the Paris shirt- so fun!!!! Love the lounging outfit!

I am the same way- I never thought about clothes from a Thrift Store, especially shoes, until I scored a pair of Birkenstocks, not worn, for $7. My feet say, "THANK YOU!" Being a teacher, cute clothes are needed too, and with school, clothes can get stained as easily as one science experiment gone wrong!

My biggest struggle with the whole thrift store clothing experience is such a visual overload. It is hard for me to pick through it. Stores here started organizing by color and size! That is a huge help!

Enjoy your finds, dear!!!!! Awesome!

Love and hugs!
Heather

I wish I could live in shorts or capris and tee shirts all year around, Diane. Life would be so easy. And I would shop at thrift stores too. I have in the past and have found some great deals. Enjoy the day! Pam

I would wear all of these. Love them. A friend of mine told me about a great Goodwill store that I want to go to. I just refuse to pay full price for anything. Clothing has such a huge markup. Yeah for you.

You found some really cute things, Diane. I never seem to have much luck in the clothing dept. at the thrift shop. Probably because the one I go to doesn't separate them by size and I usually don't have the patience to look through them all.

Diane...you found some great deals. I just recently purchased some shirts at our local thrift shop and they were name brands. I paid $3.00 for each one and if I had gotten them from the brand store...they would of cost $40 to $50 each.

I agree 100% Diane, except in your case you're not cute...you're ADORABLE!

If I lived in a warm climate (I'm in NY), I would totally dress exactly like that ALL THE TIME. My idea of dressing up would be wearing underwear. :/

Thank you so much for stopping by and for your sweet comment.

Wish we had such a nice thrift store. I have to carefully look at each piece and try it on to see that it isn't stretched out, shrunk, etc.

You found some really cute things! I'd love to be able to live in tee shirts and capris year round. We have a shop called Upscale/Resale, but lately I think they have their prices too high and the quality of the clothes isn't that great. I mainly shop there for the books and household items.

Enjoy your weekend!

My mom sold me on Thrift Stores when I was about 20yrs old and I purchased a burgundy leather coat for $5!! We have a couple nice ones around here that I frequent and find some awesome items. It's actually fun to find something you've had in mind and end up saving lots of money to have it.

Have a great holiday weekend Sweet Lavender- Blessings, Edie Marie

I truly believe that most things in the thrift stores are there because they have shrunk. When ever I wash clothes, I do not dry stuff totally dry, I snap them smooth and hang them to finish drying. Then your clothes are less apt to shrink. So if I buy anything from the thrift shop, I get a bigger size. Hope your weekend is great. I love your swan header..the water is so much like a Monet painting. xoxo,Susie

I'm all for a bargain, especially when you are getting quality items- who cares where they come from? There is a business that sells clothing once a month at my daughter's university and offers popular brands and even some designer labels for fabulous prices. My daughter picked up a new Juicy velour zippered jacket for $6. That is smart shopping :)

You found some really cute things for such great deals Diane! I never look at clothes at thrift stores, but I really should. Don't ask me how, but I am always getting little holes in my tops. Sometimes I will see one when I have only wore it once. Not sure if it's from my belt or what. I am just hard on my clothes. I will now check out the clothing. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
