I love special effects! It works so well on a photo that has ‘problems’. Do you ever take a photo and what you saw was not what you captured in your photo? That’s the best time to use textures.
I don’t have any special programs and I only use the free online services, most of the time I stick with Picmonkey and Ipiccy. They are both user friendly.
When we travel to the mountains of NC, our last few miles are on I 26 and this is our first view of the mountains that we love. I took the photo to Picmonkey and used Posterize to give it this neat effect.
I meant to use it as a banner. (all you need to do is remember to resize it to the proper size)
One afternoon at Fletcher park, the sun was making everything dull. (Below is the original and then 4 changes to the same photo.)
So instead of trying to make it look ‘less dull’, I used Dusk to make it even duskier.
Then I played a little more and made it night time! lol
The Paint effect gave the sky more color.
I also love using Pencil Sketch in Picassa.
Do you like playing with photos on your computer, too? Join us for these challenges HERE. We have fun and always learn a lot, too.
Thanks Donna!!!

I agree that it is great fun to transform your photos with the neat digital tools now available. Gosh, why would anybody want to go back to the days of film? I really like how you transformed the park scene with a handful of different textures. Wonderful!
I love these special effects and will try them more often myself. I particularly like that last picture and you have now inspired me to do something using that picasa feature.
the pencil sketch works really well on that scene! i will every once in a while play with something in picassa. :)
Diane, I love what you did with these shots - really livened them up and made them 'keepers'. I agree, often we take that first look at a photo and think it's yucky, however before hitting delete it's worth playing with it and often it looks so much better you just love it!!!
Great job dear - glad you are enjoying being back in our lovely mountains.
Hugs - Mary
Great job! I love the pencil effect but only the color can really show the beauty of the blue Ridge Mts! I hope you're here now because the color is in full swing finally!
Great Job dear..I love it so much
Hugs x
I received a beautiful post card today from a thoughtful friend in N.C. thanks Diane!
I love the paint effect it looks like an old post card.
I have never used anything like that I am going to see if I can do it. thanks for showing this.
Cathy
You did a super job of perking up the photos! I like the night time sky.
I only correct my photo's, you know, lighter darker, sharper..Etc. I have never completely altered a pic. I have used Picmonkey but never paid much attention to the altering options! Your photos are gorgeous!!! Thank you for the tips!
Carol
You made some interesting changes of the photo of Fletcher park. It's been fun playing with the textures.

Oh- SOOOO cool. I really need to learn how to play with my photos- xo Diana
Very Nice!!! I love the pencil sketch thingy.
I use PicMonkey too but just for basic things, I need to explore it more!
Editing like this is a lot fun, isn't it? Have you tried Fotor editor? It's a free downloadable program. I've been using it for several weeks now, and I like it very much. I really like your edit #5 and the last photo in your collection. It would be neat to see the night time editing of #5 on a scene like that with snow. With that big star above the mountain I think it would look like a Christmas card. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving such a nice comment. :)
I love each photo - each one is unique and creative :) Happy weekend, sweet lady!
Oh, I love that night time effect!! Stunning. I've never used Ipiccy.
Wonderful effects and textures. And what awesome views!!
I like what you did with the photos, and I really like using the Poster Edges filter, and lots of others too. It's fun to play with photos.
Wow, so many neat looks for the same picture. Such a pretty scene...
Blessings,
Cindy
You are so clever! I love how the effects work on each picture!
Cool edits- and I love the fall foliage in your header.
Great job! I like the 'duskier' one the best.
Beautiful scenes and nice edits Diane. I like the paint effect on the field scene the best. It's fun to try these isn't it? Dave a great weekend.
Oh Wow! The night time texture is wonderful! Look at that star!
Great job on the all!

I've never tried any of those. I really would love to.Thank You Donna for the info. I'm jumping on over to figure it all out now-Hugs to You Denise
Hi Diane, I love what you have altered in your pics. Yes, I love to edit my pics in many ways as well. I use PicMonkey and have a yearly business version and I also use PhotoScape and learning Adobe Illustrator for fabric designs. That one is a real challenge.
I know you are having fun. Love the day to nighttime pics.
Thank you for stopping by and your kind comment.
Have a restful weekend.
Hugs!
I'm addicted to photo editing programs. They are so much fun. Enjoy your weekend adventures!
I know exactly what you're saying!! You see something that is breathe taking and when you shoot it, then look at it - the shot just doesn't give you that wahhh laaaa that you saw!! Like your idea of photo enhancing!!
Diane, you have inspired me to try different textures to "save" a yucky picture! I'm afraid I have many of those. I always say that my main photography tip is to take SCADS of pictures and maybe something will turn out as I have envisioned it. ;)
Great job on the challenge!
I do love playing around with my photos on photoshop and pic monkey!
In theory yes but I never seem to get the time, love the pencil sketch one!
you did a great job Diane, these are works of art. I'm going to have to check out some of these photo programs when time permits. I really like what you did here.
Falling Star IS free today, I just checked. Hope you get a chance to take advantage of this freebie. Hope you like the story too.
Hugs, G
This was a fun challenge. The mountains always look good in altering. I love to paint mountains I usually make them purple.
Beautiful images! I am addicted to Photoshop - such fun!
Wow- you really had fun, and got lots of great effects on your photos. I think my favorite is the night time sky effect. Isn't this Challenge fun?
Oh wow you did a great job in this challenge. all your photo treatment is amazing.
These are all amazing Diane - I really love what you've done especially the 'dusk' and 'nightime'.
Those mountains are beautiful - a great subject for editing!

I do hope you are having a happy weekend.

Your special effects are really cool! I miss some of the neat effects they had on Photobucket and took away....
I probably need to do the photo challenges for practice. I'm a carptastic photographer!
I don't usually play with the texture of photos, but you make each photo looks so interesting. I must try a few of the technique.
