How to turn Sunbonnet Sue into a duck.
(this is not a ‘true’ tutorial so we will skip some of the steps and also some of the words used to complete this sewing project! hahaha)
I started with this. I drew the design in parts and cut them out of old timey fabric, then assembled them. (I made 2 designs)
Then I had the bright idea to use some of the old cutter quilt for the back.
I wanted it to be an old quilted pillow like a child would have taken to church in olden times.
But when I finished (well, I still haven’t sewed up the bottom where the feet were supposed to go), I ended up with a ‘horse of a different color’…otherwise known as a DUCK!
Quack Quack
It may sound funny to you but it was no laughing quacking matter.

Well, it's just adorable whether it's a duck or it ain't...lol!
Now that is a cute discovery! I love the little quilted duck. It does look old fashioned and kids would love them to pieces. Have a great day!

I think it's so precious, but forgive me for getting a little chuckle out of it. Thanks for sharing Diane at VIParty.
Quack quack quack quack - my ducks are enjoying the sunbonnet duck. I had never heard about children taking a pillow to church - sweet story.
remember it's the process ! :)
Creative genius is never wasted.
I'm smiling at this post and your sweet sunbonnet ducky.
All smiles.....love those old fabrics. I had several yards of the blue just like what you made the bonnet out of, but just recently gave it to a friend. Blessings friend
Very cute, that is a lot of linky parties. :)
I love the way you live your life!!!
I'm sorry Diane, but that really gave me a chuckle. :-). I thought those things only happened to me. Lol
There are no mistakes in art. LOL.. It still looks like a nice pillow toy. I do like that cute fabric you make the girl from, too. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ah, she's sweet, Diane. She looks a bit like Holly Hobby.
I wanted to thank you for looking out for the red cardinal and taking a picture of it for me. I didn't realize they have them in Florida. I always had the impression that they come around in places with colder weather because I see pictures of them with the snow in the background, and their little red body is beautiful. Thanks a bunch. You take the best nature pictures.

Nothing better than a Sunbonnet Sue duck. I think you may just be onto something. LOL

Girl, you make me laugh! I'm glad I'm not alone in my creative mishaps!
LOL ~ that was great fun to read.
Glad to know I am not the only one to have goof ups too. ;-)

You are so adorable.....I love your wit...and your duck!!

haha! that's so cute! that would be something I would do! Surely one of your dollies would like a little duck to play with?
Oh my, well Diane, you always make me laugh...that's too cute by the way.
Are you going to be posting this on Utube tutorials?
Jen
Too cute and we get credit for good intentions!
Aw! So funny! I guess it's a 'lame duck'! :) I've got a few UFO's (unidentified fabric objects) :) xo Karen
Well, I think the fabrics define Sue's body so evidently when you use all one color basically you end up with a duck! LOL! They're both cute!
You are too funny!!
Diane,
I had to laugh, not at you but remembering that I've done the same thing and apparently other people have, too. I bought a stuffed animal made out of a 1930quilt last week. I thought it was a kangaroo and then someone said, "Oh, cute squirrel."
Very cute! Thanks for sharing at Vintage Bliss Tuesdays. Jo
