Smashing good FUN!

I worked on my Smash Journal last week. I wanted to start a new one so I was determined to finish my ‘old’ one.

IMG_2055

I’ve been working on it for ‘awhile’ and it was getting fatter and fatter and I still had lots of blank pages.

IMG_2060

So I had an idea.

IMG_2051

I used thin magazines clippings on some of the pages.

IMG_2058

And then I cut some of the pages out of the book.

WHEW! That felt good!

IMG_2050

I was on a roll!

IMG_2053

So I called it a wrap and even did the first page of my new Smash Journal.

And then I put everything away.

Very pretty pages in your book! I am wondering about the postage from "Lietuva." I am 100% Lithuanian and remember envelopes like that from grandma's house. She corresponded with family members and they would send us gifts made of amber.

Diane, I have never heard of this before. I like the idea. I used to just cut photos from decorating magazine and keep in a shoebox. Also, poems , clippings, or interesting things I just could not throw away. This is perfect for that. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

I love your journal - it is really you!!! Good idea to cut out the pages - can't wait to see the new journal.

My crafting these days is still the doll clothes - I have 8 outfits cut out - and then I'm going to be done sewing for a while. I have a lot of cute crochet patterns I want to try and dollies always love pretty crocheted things, and they make much less mess. I need to free the dining room table from the sewing clutter - I want to do some table settings with some new dishes I've gotten in the last couple weeks - and maybe I'll even get a Valentine's Day table done.

Hope your weekend is all wonderful.

An old fashioned Pinterest! The best kind of collection. I have so many things going on. Today I will be making tea pot invitations for an afternoon tea that my freind and I will host for our university friends. We are going all out. I a have to finish up the valentines for the grandkids. I make them now. The store ones are so blah this year and expensive. All in prep for dollhouse work to begin soon. Here's to a great week.

Love your smash book and if it got too full cutting out the empty pages was brilliant! I'm still working my Art Project and loving it.

Ever see some Smash books online? They're huge!! Mine are pretty flat (I work fairly flat as a general rule). Love your pages! So sunshiney!! Keep up the good work!! Love the "I'm free" pic too! LOL!

Good for you, Diane! I love journals, you know that. :) But sometimes we have to put things away like you did. Yes, I am crafting away and enjoying every minute of it, especially the Valentines Day stuff!

Congratulations on finishing!! I adore the pictures and sayings you used.

This is a new idea I have never heard of before either!!!
Love the way yours looks!
I keep a handwritten Country Diary and add photos to it by just staple them in on the page. No where near as pretty as yours!!!

I have a book similar to yours Diane! I just cut and paste whatever rings my bell..that along with favorite sayings etc. I have never heard it called a smash book! I am adopting that phrase!

Good for you - finishing up one project before starting on another. I can't ever seem to do that and as a consequence, always have a lot of things going at once.

I've been clipping photos and articles I wanted to save out of my stash of old magazines to put into a couple of scrapbooks. It won't be pretty like your journal, but it will be handy for those clippings I don't want to lose. Now if I can just get it all done...I won't mention how long ago I started all this! lol!

I did my One Grandson one. I had like 80 pages and journal of course. I did games in it. I did quizzes. Mine was a smash book.

He loved it.

You have a long way to go if it is a smash Journal book.

Yours is pretty tidy , get messing the pixs all over. Ha-ha.

I like your journal, Diane. I've done some like that before. I like the casual, relaxed feel of what you did. It certainly is a good creative outlet.
I even made a couple using old books and pasting over the printed pages. Have a great week!

What a fun project. Love the smash journal idea.
I'm working on sewing some new clothes for myself but hesitate to show them on the blog. Maybe. We'll see.

love your journals! they are very similar to the ones I've been making for years, so that is cool to see we think/create alike in that regard. I'll have to get some photos of mine made so you can see
