Downton Abbey “Out for Delivery”

We were so glad we preordered Downton Abbey from Amazon months ago. And since before Christmas we have been receiving packages on Sunday. The mailman drives up in the driveway and delivers them…on Sunday. Is that happening where you live, too?

So it was a little easier to watch the Super Bowl instead of Downton Abbey, knowing we had the DVD of the show to watch later.

Having said that…what did you watch? Did you have 2 TVs going at the same time like we did last year? See that post HERE! When I looked at this post, I saw my first comment from Vee at A Haven for Vee. She wrote, “Now that is a hoot!”

What are your impressions of the latest installment of “As the World Turns…at Downton Abbey”?

I’ll be sure to watch my DVD of this show before I read the comments. I don’t want to be surprised or SHOCKED! It WAS shocking, wasn’t it?

Downton won out for sure, no contest at all. We just aren't into American football. We also watch Granchester that follows Downton.

I also received an Amazon delivery on Sunday last week...wow! I watched Downton and it was good. I'm finding the season a little slow, ready to move on from some story lines! I didn't watch the Super Bowl except the last few minutes. Just not that into it. Nice to have the DVD of Downton Abbey.

Linda

I am probably one of the very few who have not watched Downton Abbey yet! Judging by the following, it must be really terrific.

We watched a bit of the game, then watched Downton Abbey and got back to the game in time to see that incredible last few minutes of the game. Not too shocking last night, but I did read that this may be the last season for DA.

It was a good episode last night and full of surprises! Yes we had 2 going. I watched Downton and the game was on the other TV for husband! LOL! Have a wonderful day.

Guess I remain the one and only person in the entire world who doesn't watch that series.

Didn't watch the Super Bowl either - though Don did.

And everyone is delivering on Sunday here - seems there is a lot of competition for the delivery monies - but the rates that the shippers are paying to the deliverers (USPS, UPS and FEDEX) are so low that the delivery companies are losing money - while still competing for the business. Amazon pays their deliverers 2.00 a box - no matter the size, weight or shape of the box. Crazy world out there - but I do love getting packages on Sunday.

No Sunday mailed delivered here. R U ready for this....We have never watched Downtown Abby!! I have a lot of friends that do, and I have heard so much about this show....but somehow, we just never started watching it. my bad!
I have to agree....that is a hoot....I did have a big smile when I saw your picture of the 2 tv's set up. lol. have a great day.

That did make it a lot easier, didn't it?! I am not as "into" the Downton Abbey storyline this year, but I am glad that that little creep got his comeuppance. Now if Lord Grantham would just get a clue and start behaving himself.

My husband watched the Superbowl downstairs and DVR Downtown Abbey and I watched Downton Abbey!!

It had been going slow, but it sped up last night. Last night was good.

And I heard they had been renewed for Season 6.

I didn't have 2 t.v.s going but I do have a recall button which allowed me to switch back and forth between the 2. Downton is becoming like a soap opera which I was never into soap operas but I will continue watching as the historical part is what I enjoy. What was shocking? Did I miss something? I watched Grandchester after Downton and I really enjoy that as a mystery. I love Father Brown too.

We have just one TV upstairs - we watched the game, and Seattle's flub of a play at the end. My husband nearly had little green kittens over that one! I've never watched Downton Abbey, but have heard it's really good.

teehee... Almost had two going on but when I miss it on Sundays, I catch it on cable Monday. Watched the Super Bowl yesterday, so I'm headed for DA for lunch. I'll be back to share whether I'm surprised or SHOCKED. teehee

PS- You should see all the vintage silver and crystal I've been stocking up on thanks to DA. ;) Thank goodness for thrift stores.

Mike had the game on last night. I happened to be in the same room but I can't say I watched it. I saw a few commercials and the rest of the time I stitched away. By 9:30 I decided it wasn't exciting enough and went to bed! LOL!

I saw the season earlier in the fall when it was shown in England (online here) but I'm still enjoying seeing it again, although I missed the last two. I found that this season got better as it went along.

Enjoy watching!

Oh yes! I had to go to the bedroom and watch Downton!! It gets better with every show! I feel sorry for Isabel, but she is making a mistake trying to get her daughter back! And I just think Mary is going to end up marrying Tom, what do you think? I was so glad to see that schoolteacher leave town last night!

Dorothy

I haven't watched but one or two episodes of DAbbey and didn't get a lot out of it. I'm sure it would have been better if I'd started at the beginning and knew what was going on. :)
I can't help but notice which was most important at your house as I see what is playing on the Big screen! haha!
Have a great week!

We had both TVs going last night and then we completely switched over to Downton. My husband really doesn't watch football (hockey and baseball) is a different story. I will miss Downton when the season ends. So much fun and drama!

Debby Ray said...

I remember that post from last year...and at least you had Downton on the BIG SCREEN...lol! There was no conflict at my house since hubby was working and I had the TV all to myself. I'm not a football fan so there was no contest!

I love Downton Abbey, but I have not ventured into season 5 yet. I was upset about Syble and then got upset about Matthew and I have no idea who has been killed off now. When it comes on Amazon Prime I will probably break down and watch it.

Tina said...

No delivery on Sundays here yet. Lucky you for preordering Season 5! I forgot to set my dvr, so I have missed several episodes.I guess I will be ordering it and watching it then.
Have a great week.

OK I'm admitting here that I have not watched this show. I'm sure I would love it as much as others do! I'm just trying not to get hooked on any more TV! I feel like I'm missing out though. Might have to give in...

Just finished watching, and I see how one would be SHOCKED. ;) You're too much. :) Won't say another word.

PS-Guess who's my favorite character by far.

Hello,
I think it was an interesting episode. I do hope Edith knows what she is doing regarding little Marigold.

I have to get that dvd...not the super bowl one the downton abbey one. LOL. I have not seen one episode yet. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

My husband opted to watch the Superbowl so I was on my own to watch D A. It was an interesting episode and my feelings are mixed. I am going to wait to purchase the dvds until the season is over. There is no way I could resist watching them all!

Kim@Snug Harbor said...

I still have the last 2 episodes on my DVR to watch - I gotta go catch up!

I really need to catch up on that series. I watched #1 and #2 but need to have a marathon to get caught up. Love your pretty entertainment/bookcase center.

At nine I went to the kitchen to watch the tv in there and husband kept watching the game. he kept running into the kitchen to keep me up to dated and I would keep him up to date on Downton Abbey.
I do think all of a sudden lots will happen on Downton.

Oh no, shocking?! I missed it....PBS usually broadcasts last week's show on Saturday here, so I will have to wait until then. Love how the big screen gets Downton, and the little screen gets football! Now that's a girl with her priorities straight! ha ha! Hugs xo Karen

I have not started watching that show yet. I keep saying I am going to buy season 1 and start from the beginning. So all eyes were on the superbowl here on Sunday! It was an exciting but stressful game!

Too funny having 2 tv's going....lol...

This is one of my favorite shows! If I had the DVDs, I would be tempted to watch every episode at once!

Pat @ Mille Fiori Favoriti said...

I am fortunate, Diane, as I live in Mountain Time and the Superbowl was over before Downton Abby come son here. So I was able to watch both with no conflict. I like all the new "swinging twenties" styles on DA this year, and hope Rose can find a way to keep Marigold!

No Sunday deliveries here yet! I recorded Downton and watched the game. Well, I think Edith is just going to have to fess up and get the baby back. I am glad the school teacher is gone..I did not like her. I have the investigation story line

I certainly would have watched Downtown rather than the Super Bowl but I munched and used my IPad and commented once in awhile just to be sociable. Thank goodness for the iPad. We are watching Season 5 on PBS.

I am so enjoying Downton once again and am so glad to hear they are working on the next series. So curious what is going to happen with the whole Anna, Bates and Green thing!

Deb @ Frugal Little Bungalow said...

I pre-ordered mine too and just finished the first DVD.

Trying to take my time, a little each evening, to stretch it out.

Am already to the point where the theme music is in my head all of the time and I am starting to think in English accents, ha ha. Happens every year :)

The place we are at now doesn't have a tv! Hubby actually watched the super bowl on his lap top.
