Well, here we are back in Florida preparing for a hurricane. We were in NC when Hurricane Florence went through the Eastern part of the state and now we are getting ready for wind and rain from Hurricane Michael as it barrels down on the Western part of Florida and the panhandle. I’m keeping everyone in it’s path in my prayers.
I came home in a ‘decluttering mood’ and took a big donation to Hospice Thrift Store last week. While I was there, one of my sweet artist friends, Margaritte told me about the Arts and Crafts show coming up over the weekend in her community. So I went knowing I would buy some of her cards.
And then I saw it…..a Rooster Quilt!
And I was IN LOVE!
(I have it folded in quarters in my photos but it’s 78 by 55)
The sweet lady, Rachel gave me a ‘deal’ on it that included a small Christmas quilt.

But as I walked around looking at all the pretty things, I kept thinking about the other beautiful Christmas throw she had for sale. So I went back and bought it too. Her prices were great and I was glad I had enough ‘mad money’ with me to get them. It was just a small show but the best one I’ve been to in years!

We don’t have to wrap up in quilts very often here in Florida but I think the throws look pretty on my sofa in the lanai.
Handmade quilts are a work of art and nice to change out for the seasons! I’ve never had a Christmas quilt before! Have you?
And if you come over today, I’ll share a crisp ripe apple with you!
Have you been to an Arts and Crafts show this Fall?
I’m going to publish this a day early before any bad weather gets here. Keep praying!
I’m joining Thankful Thursdays.

you and I are safe from this one, it is way off shore from us, not even wind and rain here and I don't think it will effect you either other than cloudy day.. the panhandle is not so lucky. beautiful quilts all of these. I only had a throw quilt, one that my DIL gave me for Christmas back in 04 I think. I use it during cool months to throw over myself while reading in bed after lunch. I don't do craft fairs so answer is no to that question. I don't change out for seasons or sit things out. think OCD person
Just checked the radar and I see why you said you are getting some of the storm, it is missing us, but I see some of it flowing over you
Oh Diane, I do pray that you will be safe during the storm! My tongue is literally hanging out of my mouth over those quilts! You find the best stuff! Stay safe and as dry as you can, dear Diane! HUGS!
I hope you will be safe from the hurricane. It’s tough for you guys each hurricane season.
The quilts and cards are nice!

Diane, I am praying for everyone in the storm's path and aftermath. So scary. I love the quilt s too. You are right it is a work of art. I love the embroidery too. The cards are gorgeous. Blessings to you, stay safe. xoxo, love you dear friend, Susie
i don't know exactly where you are but i will keep you in my "safe" thoughts!!
years and years ago, i made several quilts, when my boys were little. i LOVE them, each one, each stitch, telling a story!! the ones you purchased are really beautiful, and like you said, you may not use them a lot but they are pretty to look at!!!
i have not been to a fall craft show yet, and i missed 2 good ones because i was away last weekend. but we have a lot in this area, so i won't miss out all-together!!
Love all your pretty quilts. My mama made some of the prettiest and I have several of hers...so do my kids.
I love the quilts especially the Rooster one! I haven't been to any Fall craft shows but keep thinking I'll make one sometime this month. Such a fun Fall activity. So concerned about this hurricane and hope all in it's path are safe. Hugs sweet sis!
Ah! I love that ROoster Quilt! I’m glad it found a good home!
Yes, I’ve been thinking about all of our Florida Friends in the path of an hurricane. Praying for safety and that the storm loses some of its intensity!
What a nice selection of cards, very nice!I always like quilts, an art I don't do but enjoy so well.I put a rooster on top of my cupboards when I got a new home, and after that everyone thought I was collecting them. I accumulated many, and all types of plates , towels etc over the years. It was hard to change. LOL
There just aren't many old fashioned arts fairs here in NoAla anymore. One of the local Churches has a Christmas craft fair and I try to attend it. What treasures those quilts are Diane! So glad you were able to get them. Stay safe!
Hi Diane, Oh, your rooster quilt is adorable. I like having smaller quilts that are a nice size to cuddle with a good book or watching TV in the evening in my PJ's. I'm a nut for Farmhouse and Vintage styles and the roosters and the red checks fit that to a tee. I'm happy you had enough mad money with you that day and I'm sure you helped the quilter out my buying her wears :)
Have a lovely day,
Connie :)
Gorgeous quilting work ~ great post and photos ~
Be safe in Fl
Happy Day to you,

Oh my gosh, I just saw the hurricane on tv. It is a terrible storm for sure, even knocking trees down. I hope you are ok. These cards from the Thrift Store are so lovely. And I love that Christmas quilt.
Be safe and take care, Diane.
love, ~Sheri
Hello Diane,
Take care my dear friend. This will be hurricane number two for Sam as well. They are preparing for high winds and rain, rain and rain.
I just love the sweet girl with the sand bucket card. It reminds me of me when I was little.
The quilts are true treasures.
Lots of Love,
Carla
Love the rooster quilt. I have 2 smaller quilts that I rotate out on my couch. Both were gifts from a blogger friend who makes tons of beautiful quilts. One of them is a Christmas quilt
Love those quilts and what kind of a farm girl am I that I can't tell the difference between a rooster and a chicken? LOL!You had a lucky day with good prices and lovely quilts. I don't have a Christmas quilt either and I can make them! I don't even have one for my bed but I've made for others....that's got to stop! LOL! I almost picked up some apples today but then I thought I would go back closer to Halloween and use some for caramel apples. Yes, I hope the people left like they were warned! God help them if they didn't.
Diane, yes, another hurricane! I love quilts. How wonderful to find the rooster and Christmas ones. Woo Hoo!
what lovely quilts! lucky you! I have a top of a very old red and green quilt that was never finished I use it as a skirt for my christmas tree
Cathy
All pretty quilts. I love Christmas quilts also. Please stay safe with Hurricane Michael.
I love arts and crafts shows and you found a good one! Those quilts are so great! I have two quilted Christmas wall hangings. Love them. I am always so impressed with the work of quilters! Thanks for sharing. We are praying for all in the path of Michael too. Feel blessed that he missed us, but hate that he will cause destruction for so many.
Oh my Diane, its a good thing you and I were not at the same craft fair, heehee! I just LOVE that rooster quilt, it is adorable! And how special that you were able to get three quilts that day! I'm sure you made the quilter's heart quite happy :) Hoping that you stay safe in the hurricane! It sounds like it is really doing some damage! Prayers for you :)
Beautiful quilts. Love them all.
Went to a festival just this past Saturday.
How did you weather the storm? I hope that all is well. Oh my! You did a great job scoring on those quilts. No, I have never had a Christmas quilt. Good for you!
...I hope all is well with you down in the Sunshine State. Windows Live Writer, I just type away with a few fingers in Blogger and hope that spell check catches the biggest mistakes.
What lovely work!
I hope you weathered the storm well. My parents live in the panhandle and made it out okay. I hope you did the same. Thanks for linking up today.
Yes, we have been to a couple of crafts shows at festivals. We went to an art show today and I bought a painting.
I hope you weathered the storm well. When I see the path of the hurricanes on television I think of all the blogging friends along its pathway and pray that you will all be safe.
Oh Diane those quilts are just gorgeous. Many of my happiest childhood memories are about my Ma-Maw and her beautiful quilts. They weren't just to keep us warm....they were packed with memories and all the stitches held stories and love. I still feel the love when I hold them or look at them! Your quilt looks beautiful where you placed it!
I have not been to an arts and crafts show in ages. I do have a cute little shop where arts and crafts are sold right here in my little town so I like to visit there and buy goodies. Hurricanes seem to be attracted to you!! Stay safe.
Wow - what beautiful quilts! Love the rooster one the best.
