Well, it can be if we make it at home, without sugar!
As all of my regular readers know (since I have probably mentioned it about a gillion times!! lol) , I can’t eat sugar. I’m allergic to sugar. I don’t look at a piece of cake or a cookie…or even a muffin and wonder if I can cheat and have just one bite. I can’t. I will have an allergic reaction. You might at well dial 911! So I’m not tempted by sugary foods.
And since I avoid artificial sweeteners, I’m always looking for healthy snacks! I DO love to snack!
Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks and when I found these Beer Nuts, I couldn’t believe how much my popcorn snack tasted like Cracker Jacks when I added just 2 Tablespoons of them to the bowl.
This isn’t ‘diet food’. This is a healthy snack! There’s a difference!
My hubby bought these Beer Nuts for me for my birthday and I knew I would be in BIG trouble if I ate right out of the ‘barrel’ of nuts!
So I put 2 Tablespoons into individual snack bags.
That really is perfect for adding to a big bowl of popcorn.
And that’s my favorite way to eat them.
My hubby loves to do crazy things like this. One day when I looked in the pantry, they were under lock and key
with a sign that said Security Cameras in Use! haha!
Any ‘sugar free’ snacks you enjoy? I’m always on the look out for something besides cheese sticks and cottage cheese!
So where's the photo of the big bowl of popcorn with beer nuts mixed in?
I ATE IT! hahahaha
I ATE IT! hahahaha

at 230 pounds...I wouldn't mind being allergic for a few months.
I have never had these or even seen them, but if they were in the house, I would need the lock and chains. thanks for the idea, I could put maybe 10 of them in my popcorn , because I have to count calories.
I recently found two snacks that I love. I don't eat sugar either and if you have other things you use please let me know.
the past 3 days, I make my oatmeal for breakfast, add crunchy peanut butter, 1/2 cox of rasins and for my sweetner, a squirt of liquid sweetner, but you could use what ever you use. I put two huge spoons of it on a plate and sit in fridge and for my morning snack I eat it cold like a cookie, it was so good I froze 2 pieces yesterday and yum... today I will make a few of them to leave in the freezer. the other thing I accidently found was a fruit kabob.
I had a small container of pineapple and a few strawberries, the cooked apples I make once a week, was almost gone. I put the three together to make room in the fridge. took a fork and one slice berrie, one slice apple and 1 slice pineapple OH MY a fruit kabob. I use lots of cinnamon on the cooked apples and the cinnamon got on the other fruit. yum
Great idea to portion out the snacks Diane! I love Popcorn...it has always been a favorite since I was a little girl and my grandmother would pop a big pan every time we were at her house.
Diane, I laughed about the beer nuts being locked up. So funny. Ted has eaten enough of peanuts in plastic jars like that...he probably could have built a small shed with the containers. They are used in our shop holding screws, nails and nuts/bolts. LOL He has even given many to his son for his shop. He is now on very low sodium...so there go the nuts. He too would put them in his popcorn.:) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
p.s. we had a good weekend.
Funny... I laughing about this Post. Happy MosaicMonday
That sounds neat - and I love just a big bowl of popcorn too - so two treats, without sugar. We have snow - several inches and our power was out for a few hours in the night - kind of scary in an all electric house. I think I'll make some popcorn to munch on while the house heats up. Happy week ahead my dear.
Oh my gosh, I didn't know you were allergic to sugar! I have to watch my intake of it as well, but I really love goodies. The beer nuts look so good. Nuts and popcorn, that sounds interesting. I think that's smart that you avoid artificial sweeteners. Not good for us either. It's wonderful that you always eat healthy.
Have a good week, Diane.

LOL. Enjoy your beer nuts. Happy Mosaic Monday
Much💟love
What about fruit? they are full of sugar..
Popcorn is a low calorie snack, but not so the various nuts. Weight watchers should beware of nuts.
'Didn't know that you are allergic to sugar. My former husband has hypoglycemia, and he can not have much sugar at all. Back then (during our marriage), there weren't a lot of sugar-free choices. The lock on the beer nuts, that did make me smile.
What are beer muts?....never heard of them...Hihihihihihi.......happy week love from me Ria 💕x
Allergic to sugar - what a fabulous allergy to have!! ^^
...2 Tablespoons, what willpower!
That looks like a wonderfully tasty snack.
Diane, I like your husband's humor! Ha Ha I'm allergic to sugar as well, but for different reasons. I eat nuts and berries for snacks. Now, go look for the key to the lock. ♥
So funny with the chains and lock. I need to do that myself but since I live alone I would also have the key! Hugs!!
Hi Diane, popcorn is a good snack and we all here love it too. I don't think I've ever had beer nuts before. Your husband sounds fun and has a great sense of humor. I like to snack on cheeze it's and my husband and daughter always make fun of me! We don't have any sweets in our house either. We also snack on different nuts. Thanks for stopping by and sharing at our Cooking and Crafting with J&J. It's 60 degrees here today!
Yay!!! Enjoy the week.
Julie
I knew you cut back but didn't know you are allergic to sugar! I'll be on the look-out for snacks I can share with you:@)
I cracked up when I saw what your husband did with the chaining and locking the peanuts. My husband would do something like that too.
Portion control is so important!!
I didn't know you were allergic to sugar. That must be hard!!
Wow. Being allergic to sugar certainly takes a lot of foods off the table for you, so to speak :) The lock and sign sure sounds like something my Hubby would do! That made me chuckle!
Diane, your husband is a hoot! I haven't thought about Beer Nuts in years. I remember how delicious they are! Can you eat fresh fruit? Celery with peanut butter is a good snack. How about a tortilla wrap with melted cheese or meat in it?
Your husband is so funny with locking and chaining the beer nuts! I guess he knows you pretty well. For a sugar-free, but not fat-free snack, I like to grate, or slice cheese, put it in little piles (or slices) on a sheet of parchment paper and microwave it for about 30-40 seconds until it's crispy - it's like a carb-free chip! Yum! Can't have too many of those either or the calories add up!
Difficult at best being allergic to sugar I bet ~ but you seem to be doing okay with it and hubby is helping ~ ^_^
Happy Day to you,

Diane - so glad you're back at Mosaic Monday! We can always count on you for a good old belly laugh! Popcorn is my all-time favorite snack - when I was young, my mother started a recipe that subs bacon grease (from frying bacon) in place of oil - the resulting popcorn has a light bacon flavor - to die for! As for other sugar-free snacks, we love hummus with pita chips or any crudité. Have a wonderful week!
I love nuts and almonds :)
That's a good idea. Popcorn, nuts -- both favorites!
I ilke the sense of humor of your husband, and yours as well. I didn’t know your allergy to sugar, but good for you as you can lead a healthy life. As for me, I have sweet tooth, but have tried to avoid buying sweets and cakes containing refined sugar or artificial sweetener as much as possible. Homemade cakes are nice using natural sweetener like brown sugar, maple syrup, honey, and the likes. Popcorns with beer nuts sound nice. Have you tasted “senbei” “arare” or “okaki”, a low calorie rice cracker. Some of them are sugar-free, when they are soy-sauce or salt flavored.

A sugar allergy would be rough since most everything contains sugar any more. That is just too funny about your husband putting the beer nuts under lock and key.
nuts and popcorn sounds like an ideal snack!
Thank your hubby for the laugh! I have never heard of anyone else with a sugar allergy....addiction maybe!
I love ice cream...but my a1c count has me behaving. I instead eat about a 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries...still frozen. The one pound Walmart brand is alway available in my freezer and they are big plump and delicious. Sometimes I top them with a dollop of Redi Whip or a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
I hope you find that key ))), thanks for my morning laugh! We like nuts and cheese and fruit . Bill makes hummus and we like it with carrots, sweet pepper slices and skinny crackers. Can you eat fruit?
Oh my, allergic to sugar! Your husband cracks me up, he's a real sport! Beer nuts and popcorn sounds great to me!
With my Type 1 diabetes, I'm always looking for good snack without sugar, so thanks for this tip. I'm going to the store tomorrow and will look for them.
That would be so hard to be allergic to sugar....I feel like I am forgetting something you could snack on but cannot think what it is for the life of me.
I'll be making popcorn later this evening, I wish we had any kind of salted nuts to add to it. Your husband is funny. A good kind of guy to have, just like mine. :-)
i can't image being allergic to sugar but i guess you adjust and it is certainly not a bad thing to not eat sugar. it's all anyone talks about these days is how bad sugar is for you!!
i don't have a huge sweet tooth, more of a "food" tooth and i don't pay attention to what's in anything i eat! i am just telling the truth!!
and your husband is a riot!!
I've been making snacks with dates recently. There is no added sugar but the dates themselves are very sweet. Does natural sugar count?

I haven't thought about beer nuts for ages ...I don't eat a lot of sweets but Imagine being allergic would be quite a challenge as just about everything has sugar in it... except maybe popcorn which is one of my favorite snacks... It's nice to know hubby is looking after you ....ENJOY your week...Hugs
Hi,
I enjoy mixed nuts. Cashews are my favorite. Pretzels are another favorite. I have not had beer nuts in a long time, I want some. :-)
I hope you have the key to open that lock, Diane! :) That is funny. I like peanuts, pecans and popcorn for snacks.
~Judy
Hello,
Oh no, we can not have the snacks under lock and key! It is a good idea to have portion sized baggies with your snack. I have never tried these, I will look and see if I can find some. I have been looking for gluten free snacks, I think nuts are good. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Have a happy day!
Who needs sugary treats when there’s popcorn and nuts to snack on. Making up snack size portions is a good ieas and your husband does have a great sense of humor.
I have been allergic to sugar for 30 years and it is HORRIBLE! Sugar is in everything and I mean EVERYTHING. My new unconventional doctor said it is caused by an infection in my pancreas and is treating it naturally with "Premier Research Labs, Cardio-ND". I don't know if it is working yet because I don't have the courage to try something sweet. I get so sick. I am passing this on to you in hopes your doctor may know about something also.
