The Black-crowned night heron

This was such a beautiful bird that I wanted to include ALL the photos 'we' took!

It was across the Rainbow river from us so I have to give hubby the credit for most of these photos.

And it was preening...

and fluffing....

and maybe even feeling a little grumpy

but giving us so many beautiful poses.

Just a little idea too of how the seasons change in this part of North Central Florida.

Taken in January

Taken again in March

These are taken from the bridge at the Blue Run Park in Dunnellon.

You can see that many of the trees here are deciduous.

One more Black-crowned night heron and we'll call it a wrap!

 Enjoy your weekend!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

He is a beauty , a bit grumpy looking, maybe fishing was off, or maybe his preening didn't go as he liked lol, thank you fir showing us the change in season, I think many of us don't realize that all of nature had it's time, it's just more pronounced in different parts

Such a beautiful, bird, it looks like he was expecting you so he decided to give you his best poses. ~wink~
It is amazing what a few weeks will do in bringing new life to trees, I stand at my kitchen window and observe the changes weekly, so amazing.
Have a blessed weekend,
Sue

One of my absolute favorites -- they seem to be showing up for me this year more than any other bird -- but most of my photos all look the same; it's great how you captured the action and different poses.

What a gorgeous bird. An educational post, as I thought everything looked the same in your Florida nature year round.

We occasionally see the Black-crowned Night Heron here as it's a scarce visitor from Europe. It is a beautiful bird and you have a lovely set of photos there Diane.

The black crowned night heron - what a beauty he is. Don't see them around here. His white fluffy belly is pretty. The water pictures are different taken in January and then in March. So much greener in March, and looks tropical. Such lovely photos today, Diane.

I think your Black-crowned Night Heron has a look of 'hang on a moment I just need to be properly dressed before you photo me!' Great photos!
