This park is only 1 mile from our condo in NC so it's quick and easy to run over there for a hike.
The weather was beautiful!
It meanders through big Sycamore trees and stays shady most of the day.
I love this old rusty bridge.
Can you see it 'steaming'? The sun was coming in on the moist bridge and causing it to steam. I was surprised the photo showed it so well.
And walking on a side trail leads down to Cane Creek.
We spotted this Great Blue Heron up in a tall tree.
And watched a squirrel having a little mid morning snack.
This little dog was trying to keep up with his master on a bike.
Above photo, Thanks David G. for identifying this as a damselfly, a male Ebony Jewelwing (Calopteryx maculata).

Hello, Diane
I enjoyed this hike with you, the park looks beautiful. I like shade and the trees! The creek and bridge are pretty scenes, great sighting of the Heron and Damselfly. The little dog is a cutie. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post! Take care, enjoy your weekend! PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Glad you did not see any bears! Our neighbor across the road had one in the bed of his truck the other morning. He had left an empty soda cup back there and Mr Bear was checking it out.
...looks like a "cool" place!
Hi Lavender Dreamer! Sure enjoyed your photos. The trail looks like a great walk for those of us who love nature. Thanks for sharing! John
How nice to be so close to it! You did well, getting the steam in your photo. It's a beautiful park; I can see why you like it! Happy week!
That little fly is interesting, and such BIG eyes. The Great Blue Heron is so pretty. Such a grand bird, isn't it? The creek is lovely. I was going to take a ride to the creek today with my son. I'd like to see it in all the seasons. That's a cool photo of the bridge and the steam.
Have a peaceful and restful weekend, Diane.

Well if one must take a hike 😁, the shade must help. Interesting capture of the steaming bridge.
You surely enjoyed your walk! :)
your hiking trails in NC look much like the ones here in Florida, but i am sure the humidty was not as bad
That is a very pleasent walk
In the event that you might be interested the damselfly above (not a dragonfly) is a male Ebony Jewelwing (Calopteryx maculata). Nice shot.
What a peaceful place that rail is! They all look like Dragonflies to me. ;-)
Thank you for taking us along on your walk. It's beautiful there. The damselfly is amazing. Have a wonderful weekend.
What a beautiful spot! You look terrific! All that hiking, I guess.
What a beautiful place! And you are always walking!!
So nice that you live close enough to be able to walk there.
What a great place to hike! That photo of the heron is amazing! Thanks for taking us along!! xo
Lovely captures of your hike!
I remember the sidewalks steaming in New Orleans. And "sweating" if it wasn't quite hot enough to steam. You are a hardy hiker. I'd be passed out under the AC. What fun critters you saw! Lil' doggie is so cute.
That steaming bridge is quite something, as is the photo of the heron. You find interesting things wherever you walk. Happy new week to you, Diane.
It looks lovely.
Oh, what a wonderful wander with you Diane, such a glorious time of year and lovely to see your critters along the way.
Happy Sunday

Superb day for an hike, and you spotted Heron and as we call it Beautiful Demoiselle, lovely.
you have homes in both florida and north carolina?? seems now is a good time to change spots and spend some time in the perhaps cooler NC. this path looks beautiful, shady and cooler and i was able to see the steam on the bridge!!
beautiful capture of the heron...and the dragonfly. i have tried to photograph dragonflies without any luck!! have a happy sunday!!
Yes,it sure looks warm to me. That's a lovely shot of the Great Blue. Nd the little doggy looks like he needs a drink of water.
Lovely trail, green and shady.
El paseo me parece precioso y relajante. Muchos besos.
a damselfly... I love that word!
What a perfect setting near your condo!!
Here's hoping your week ahead is super. Thanks for linking in. HAPPY BIRDING!
Such a beautiful hiking trail. I love the photos. You have a super day, hugs, Edna B.
so good to have a place like this nearby. Easy to visit whenever you like. Love the Ebony Jewelwing, a gorgeous shot. We have a similar one but this year I have only seen one male individual and no female :(
Looks like a beautiful place to hike! I really like the photo of the little dog. Have a great week!
What a wonderful looking trail. I would like that how it's all shaded.
What a pretty trail! Your NC posts make me think of the Plantation tours we took when we were staying around Charleston (SC) and how the guide at one of them told us that the wealthy people back in those days would pack up every summer and head for their summer home in the mountains in (now) North Carolina. I thought about how even very wealthy people didn't have air conditioning back then!
Lovely places you've found on this trip!
Through your lovely photographs, I certainly enjoyed this hike with you, thank you.
All the best Jan
