I thought I would get my hiking journal out and share some of the 'stats' for the hikes I've made this month. I might not always share how long it took me to go whatever distance I went. It always depends on how much I see to photograph. When we are at Blue Run Park, we stop every few steps to look at the birds and wildlife. When I walk on the Florida Trails, I cover more distance in a shorter amount of time.
March 1st Blue Run Park
Hike #34, 2 miles
71 degrees 53% humidity
list of sightings: alligators, Anhinga, Tri Color Heron, Ibis, Little Blue Heron, Turtles, Grebes, Moorhens, Warblers, Pileated Woodpecker, Hawks, Limpkin, River Otter, wildflowers, dragonflies
March 3rd Florida Trails East
Hike #35, 2 miles
66 degrees 53% humidity
March 5th Halpata Tastanaki Preserve (SR 200)
Hike #36, 2 miles
67 degrees, 81% humidity
March 6th Florida Trails West (CR 484)
Hike #37, 2 miles
73 degrees, 73% humidity
March 8th Florida Trails 49th Ave Trailhead West
Hike #38, 3 miles
75 degrees, 89% humidity
So you can see the weather has been ideal and I've seen a lot of neat things!
I hope you have some nice parks and trails that you can enjoy when the weather is good!
Happy Hiking!

Beautiful
Great journal keeping. You do have the nice temps for walking there.
Thanks for sharing your hiking journal. How awesome that you keep a hiking journal! When I first started looking at it I simply saw that # sign and then a number. At first I thought that was how many miles you hiked on that trail!!!!! My first reaction was, "DANG, I am soooo finding out what drugs she takes and I am getting me some! LOL! Love all the pictures. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
I had to chuckle how you keep notes regarding humidity. I take notes during our ski and snowshoe hikes, as to what the temp is when we started and what it is when we are done. ;-) We go in the afternoons and usually we start out warmer than when we finish.
Beautiful photos and keeping a journal of your hikes and locations are a great idea! I am dreaming about wildflower season--I have to wait a few more months for that.
You've taken some really great hikes!!
Wonderful photo of the spiderwort. It used to grow in my garden, but one summer, it didn't come back. Always great photos of birds and you do a real good job with the people. The photo of the girls going full tilt is great.
Wonderful photos and I like the idea of your journal.
Wow - you really got some steps in. You got some great photos too.
You've shared some lovely photographs here.
You certainly do well with you hikes, and I enjoy reading about them.
Have a good week.
All the best Jan
A very nice start to March!! Wow! Great photos, too! xo
Thanks for sharing your journal and lovely photos. Such pretty variety of all the sights. Have a happy week ahead.
beautiful collection of photos today - butterflies and flowers
Your hikes are amazing! I read with interest your comments about the humidity levels... oh my. We have very little humidity here, year-round. I don't like the humidity! You captured some gorgeous pictures and I love your idea of keeping a journal, with your miles, temps, humidity and things seen. I should try to do that! Marvelous photos :)
Thanks for sharing. Have a good week!
Diane - thanks so much for sharing these details. You know how much I enjoy hiking, so this information is very interesting to me! I am a bit jealous of all the wildlife you can see in such a short distance! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!
You took beautiful pictures during your walks.
I like the blue flower.
Greetings Irma
Great photos and great hikes! That picture you took of the Mourning Dove is stunning!
Hello,
Keeping a hiking journal is a good idea, I like to keep a record of my wildlife and bird sightings and where we hiked. Your photos are beautiful, I love the flowers, birds and butterfly. Take care, enjoy your day!
The distance is modest, the temperature agreeable mostly, the humidity not too bad and the rewards are great.
I enjoyed looking at the beautiful photos of your hiking journal. I hope you have a fun week hiking Diane.
Wonderful, Diana, it's such a lovely post with the many flowers, birds, butterflies and last but not least you on the way with your friends. That must be funny.
We have had some sunny spells too and enjoyed our garden.
Happy MosaicMonday, have a good week.
You are amazing!!! I adore the new look on the blog....your photos are exquisite!
The stats were interesting Diane -- the Blue Run trail sounds about my speed -- stopping every few minutes to take pictures. But all your hikes always have great pictures -- as this post shows. Fun.
aww... you are hiking...
wonderful trail....
Thank you for sharing beautiful photos.
I sure wish I could hike. You do so well!
Poor JB hasn't been able to walk with the snow. Just too much ice rain.
Thanks for sharing the photos from your hikes. It's so soothing to spend time with nature.
Your photos are always magical- I feel as though I am right out there on the hike with you. Thanks for sharing with us. Love it.
Your walks are amazing and I love all the great pictures you get. I am so anxious for spring to get here so I can get outside for a bit. Been having some issues so hope I am walk-ready when warm weather finally gets here. xo Diana
Thanks for sharing the beauty of your hikes. You are so well-disciplined to record your hike details. I'm impressed.
That is quite a summary!
You've really seen a lot and covered a lot of territory.
Now, for some, reason, I feel tired .....
Hey Lavender Dream! That first flower photo, wow! I’d like a tunic or dress in that color. Seeing the places you walk has me itching to see more than the usual.
What lovely things you see on your hikes. That purple flower is striking, and it is actually my favorite color! The sweet bird underneath it is precious. Love its white belly. And there's nothing like the Mourning Doves. They are all around in my neighborhood. "Birds of Peace" I call them. Their cooooo sound is soothing, and they just exude goodness. Your bridge photo is so charming also. And the butterfly on your Header is outstanding.
Happy St. Patrick's Day, Diane.

Your photos are so amazing, I think I can reach out and touch the flowers and I am waiting for the wind to ruffle the bird's feathers. Happy Hiking :-)
BEAUTIFUL spring pictures, Diane!--the skies, the grasses, the butterflies, the bridges and paths and people and sunshine and birds/creatures! Love going on hikes with y'all. I love that purple flowers, we had tons of those spring up in a yard we used to have, I thought they were so pretty, then people told me to mow them down, they "are weeds". ?? Well, awful pretty weeds if you ask me, ha ha. Hubby would always leave me a patch of them so I could enjoy them, and he would mow the rest down, there were so many. One person said they were "swamp irisis" and another called them spiderwort, I think? Happy st patricks day, I actually posted something today....I've been way behind! hugs!
Lovely capture of the different hikes. I always love natural trails, but my disability keeps me away from them. It's good to view natural scenes here, and those on skating scooters appear to be cool.
Nice stats. YOu put in some mileage and get some wonderful photo's. Had a nice walk on the beach today, and now with weather changing, I actually got warm and perspired. Hope that means winter is really gone.
Sandy's Space
Las rutas se ven preciosas, con grandes avistamientos. Yo seria feliz recorriendo esos paisajes. Besos.
Dear Diane,
your hikes are always a lot further (and probably more strenuous) than ours. But it's worth it and you always see a variety of animals and plants. The blue tone of the flower in the first picture is gorgeous! I also looked at your post from the Blue Run Park, the Red-shouldered Hawk is really a magnificent specimen and in general you can't stop looking and being amazed there...
All the best and have a nice weekend,
Traude

Hi Diane, I love what you said, “I might not always share how long it took me to go whatever distance I went. It always depends on how much I see to photograph.” That is so true for me too! :-) Sometimes my sweet wife asks why it took me so long to finish my walk and I tell her I took a lot of pictures. Ha ha. When she sees the pictures later, at home, she knows it is the truth. :-) You got some great pics during your visit to Blue Run Park! John
