What I do in between hikes!

I wish we could hike every day! But someone has to do the laundry and housework and hubby is planting more knock out roses and putting down new mulch. So we keep busy when we are 'in between hikes'.

I love doing junk journals. Some of them I make myself and others I buy from Etsy shops. I love Etsy!

So here's a little pink journal I've been working on lately.

I bought some ephemera to add to this one.

This seller has some neat things in her shop at great prices. Her shop is HERE! Check it out!

She made the door and I glued it to the front of the journal that I made.

Lots of cute things to add to the pages and tags, etc.

I will need to get to a point with this one and then sit down and write some thoughts and quotes to finish it up. I never really complete a journal. I always have a few pages to add to when the mood hits.

OK, this gorgeous journal is made by the Etsy shop HERE

I placed a bookmark in the front when I tied it with silk ribbon.

She made it and put lots of special touches inside

and then I added some of my own.

It was super fun and I still have space to write inside too.

I tend to like the cutting and glueing and leave the writing for last.

One more...

Even the back of the journal is a work of art!

SO....I know you want to see my desk with works in progress.

I put some things out on my desk to start on something new but I keep it pretty neat while I am working. I like to be able to see what I am doing. I can't work when there is too much out and in the way.

With the gorgeous Florida weather (highs in the 70s and 80s) we are hiking just about every other day. That works out great and gives us time for work (hubby) and crafting (me!).

Have you done any arts and crafts lately?

It's FUN and addictive!

I’m joining Thankful Thursdays and

I like Thursdays HERE too!

It's nice to see that you are making and crafting those gorgeous junk journals Diane. You are so creative and it's fun to be doing something that you enjoy so much. I love that pretty header on your blog too. I hope you have a nice week Diane.

i am a no talent when it comes to crafts but in the art lane, I consider my PicMonkey playtime as creative art. a way to create. I can't paint or sew or knit etc but I do love to create using software. our weather has been what I would specail order year round if I could

Wow! Beautifully creative artwork. Journals capture the heart with their freedom vibe and comfy style.
Hiking and junk journals are a good balance.

Your junk journals are lovely, Diane. I like to sew and garden and embroider and read for hobbies. There's always something to do. Have a great day whether you're hiking or crafting, or doing the necessary things around the house.

Such a fun post and it's nice to see another side to you. I love tagging along on your hikes but seeing your creative side also puts a smile on my face. Have a sweet day. It's going to be warm here today and I plan on getting outside and doing a little yard work 😊

I love junk journals but have made only one and that was some 10 years ago!!!! I love what you have shared here. I frankly don't have the time to make one now, but I should with so much fun going on in my life right now.

Pretty journals. The cutting and gluing is always more fun for me than the writing. I've never been very good at keeping up with any kind of journal. I start but never get very far.
Your desk is way neater than mine is when I'm crafting.

Those are some very pretty journals. I don't get it (or scrapbooking) but many do so I'm the odd one out. Laundry and cleaning do get in the way, don't they!! xo

No I don’t craft, I do have a sister that does. I spend a lot of time going to educational lectures at both The Woman’s Club and TCU Universities senior program. I have been writing. I try to write at least 30 mins. a day recording stories of my childhood. I wish my ancestors would have done that….and maybe my kids will one day appreciate it.

This post made me very happy, I needed it today. Thinking about what's going on in Europe has made me both angry and sad. So thank you for this, dear Diane, it's creative, inspiraitonal, and just plain lovely.

I don't think I would be good at trying to write something in a journal, but looks like you had fun putting things together. Way to go on the walking/hiking every other day. As weather warms up here, I hope to be able to get out more often and get some decent mileage in.

I've never seen these before, but you've got me intrigued. I took a Zentangles/drawing class this winter and I've got my markers out. I did some Valentines and now I'm doing cards. Not much of a crafter, but I'm really enjoying this. Take care!

Your journals are beautiful, Diane. I used to do these and also do journal page swaps based on a theme. I haven't done that in a long time but I enjoyed it tremendously back then. I have painted a bit last week and probably will get back to my needlefelting very soon!

I very much enjoyed this post, Diane. I made a junk journal a few years back and thoroughly enjoyed the experience but I didn't have the fancy dodads that would have made it really pretty. It was a surprisingly creative experience. Enjoy those temps and the wonderful hiking.

Hi Diane! I love journals and your craft journaling looks so cool. You asked about crafting. Lately I have been trying to perfect creating my own original postcards. I’ve been printing some of my favorite photos onto 4 x 6 photo paper and then, using Scotch double sided tape, taping them onto plain card stock. The address and message go on the back. Postcard stamps are $.45 now. We both enjoy long walks and crafting. That’s pretty neat! Wishing you happy days ahead! John

Your journals are really pretty. I think I would use them as scrapbooks more than journals. Glad you (and hubby) are keeping busy.

Diane - so pretty and creative! Before blogging came along, people did scrapbooking, and your journals remind me of that. My crafting lately is a new cross-stitch stocking for our daughter!

Your pink art journal is delightful, Diane, and I like the other one also. Such a creative project to work on. I used to do scrapbooking years ago, and I still have a scrapbook that I made for Nel. It was a lot of fun working on it at the time. Your desk looks so organized with all your art supplies. That tea cup with the roses tag is so pretty. This is a wonderful hobby. All your tags are sweet too. One of them looks like a fox maybe?

I love your junk journals, Diane, and the ones you purchased from ETSY! I will check out the store you recommend. I have so many rubber stamps I used to play with but haven't used in a long time (they are stored in my basement)and really should take up the hobby again as a creative process. I like your desk setup! Keep having fun!

Your junk journals are SO PRETTY DIANE!!---I love seeing them. About housework-----well, I've lowered my standards FOR SURE because I want to be out seeing and doing all the time, and I can't do it all, ha ha LOL. I do keep up with laundry and cooking and dishes and all....but not dusting and deep cleaning, floors etc. It eventually gets done, just not as often as in the old days! LOL Happy weekend my friend!
