Let’s go inside Mast General Store!

It’s one of my favorite places to shop.

They have lots of locally made items and neat things you don’t see anywhere else.

Oh, and CANDY! lol

IMG_7041

I bought dishcloths and hubby sneaked in some old timey candy!

IMG_7018

Lots of neat displays in the store.

Down the street we browsed in a ‘new’ book store.

I even splurged and bought a Golden Book.

(One I don’t have and it was $1.95!)

Lots of fun when you ‘vacation’ in your home town!

Do you have a nice downtown in your area?

Visit Hendersonville, NC if you’re ever in this part of the state! You’ll be glad you did! (to find a parking place, park at the Visitor’s Center at the South end of Main)

I love going to Mast General Store too. Love the old fashioned candy. Great tip about the visitors center! We usually just park a block off Church street and walk up to Main.

We do have the premier Prim Shoppe in the state imho; however, I would not say that our downtown is anything to stand up and holler over. =D I looked for that book...Everything I Need to Know...I learned in a Golden Book yesterday, but no luck. I think I'd like that one!

I sure wish we had a downtown like this. All these stores look like so much fun. Love the carved bears in the tree:-)

Such a cute little Main Street. I live in Philadelphia. We have nothing like that in Center City. The bear carving is so cute and I love the general store.

I even like their (the gen store) bags! I bought that same LGB for my daughter several years ago. Isn't it cute?!

I spent many summers at camp in Hendersonville and now my sons do! I love that little town (and the MAST general store). I also love the donuts at that Bakery on main street! Enjoy your pretty town!

Love your header of the Blue Ridge Mountains...so pretty!! They are redoing our downtown...putting in little shops to bring folks down there. Also turning some of the old buildings into apartments.
The candy your hubby got is some of my favorite from when I was a kid.
hugs,
~Cindy

Looks like fun, Diane! Mast is an Amish name in our neck of the woods. We don't have a cute downtown area. I think we're more practical up here - groceries and vehicles. LOL We really need to work on that!

I will have to add Hendersonville to my list of neat places to visit!!

Diane,
There's our Little Golden Book, "Everything I need to know." I didn't realize it was so popular. I just love sock monkey. I just saw one at Michaels yesterday with a jack o lantern on his belly, and I wanted to get it but decided to wait for Fall. This shop is so charming. You must have had fun browsing all around. You have added another Golden Book to your collection. :~)

love,
~Sheri

I've enjoyed every single one of the Mast General Stores that I have visited, including the one here in downtown Knoxville. And our favorite is the original one in Valle Crucis. Yep, count me in on getting a bag of candy. And I know I would have bought a pack of paper straws (shown in your photo). After being trapped in a downtown job for decades, I avoid our downtown at all costs. The parking situation is horrible. Traffic is too. The last time I was down there was when I retired over 6 years ago (almost 7)! I'll be sure to visit downtown Hendersonville the next time we go over that way.

Somewhere in the depth of our garage are two Mast General blankets. I absolutely love that store. It was the first place I ever bought Burt's Bees lip balm, in Asheville back in the 90s, or was it the 80s. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Ann
