The Missing Weekend!

Or should I say, the FULL weekend! (I’ll make this a long weekend and include Friday! lol)

I went to the library on Friday morning and checked out a book by Nancy E. Turner. I didn’t even need to read the cover to see what it was about. Anything that Nancy E. Turner writes, I will read. Even my husband has read her books, too. We read These is My Words, Sarah’s Quilt and the Star Garden a few years ago. This is a trilogy that should be read in order. We still remember the stories and certain scenes and sayings from the characters.

And even though I am a fast reader, I am actually trying to slow myself down to enjoy this book to the fullest. But having said that, it has almost 600 pages and I am already over halfway through. It is amazing and will get the highest rating I can give it in Goodreads.

We watched the old Alfred Hitchcock movie, ‘The Birds’ over the weekend, too. I think I had nightmares just THINKING about watching it!

Did you know that Alfred Hitchcock makes an appearance in all of his movies. We have fun looking for him. He was walking some dogs in the very beginning of this movie.

And we spent some time with our growing grandsons, J and B!

Aren’t they handsome? (and also incredibly smart and talented!)

Did you have a nice weekend, too?

We are still on our weekend with it being a bank holiday - but I am cheating a little as I am off this week anyway :-) The book looks interesting even before it has been opened. I can remember watching The Birds many years ago and was terrified (I still can't go within the walls of the Tower of London because of the Ravens!!). Have a wonderful week xx

I've read the first book of Ms. Turners and I think I may have the second but did not know about the 3rd or that it was a trilogy. I'll get right on that as the first book was excellent! Nancy Jo got me interested in her.
I knew that about Alfred Hitchcock and love his movies. I definitely remember The Birds!
Your grandsons are too cute! B looks like he is going to be taller than you in no time! I need to catch up with you today....take care!

I love the pic of you and the boys. Very cute. The Birds movie is like my house in the winter with the buzzards. Oh I hope we sell before they return. 200 plus roost in u our trees. They don't attack but leave slot of unpleasantness.

Sounds like a great weekend and the books look wonderful! Those are couple of handsome boys you have there! We also enjoyed our time at the beach with our two oldest ones. We consider it a blessing that at nearly 16 and 14 they still want to be around and enjoy their Mawmaw & Pawpaw! Have a fabulous week, friend!

Love seeing your grandboys and I am going to look for Nancy Turner books. The sad thing about a good book is that is has to come to an end.:) My husband and I caught The Birds on Cable tv the other week and I have to say that it still gives me the Heebie Jeebies too!!

I am writing down the names of the books you mention - hoping to check them out someday. I have had a big slump with book reading. Not sure what the problem is. I did reread Christy this summer - one of my all time favorites. Now reading Now reading Ordinary Grace by William Krueger, my book club's selection for September.

I've heard that about Alfred Hitchcock making an appearance in all his movies, how interesting. I remember THE BIRDS! I've seen it several times, and every time it gives me the chills. How nice that you got to spend time with your Grandsons. Spending time with family is one of the greatest gifts.
