Seeing Spots!

On hike #10 at Blue Run Park in Dunnellon, FL we saw an elusive Wood Thrush.

woodthrushDSCN2160

It’s the first one we’ve seen here in Florida.

wDSCN2162

We get so excited to see a bird we’ve never seen here before!

wIMG_4288

It was down in the brush but it stayed put long enough to get a few pics.

One more! (and thanks hubby for some of these close ups!)

Then later we saw a Yellow-Rumped Warbler from the back!

That was an easy ID!

Then last night I ‘spotted’ this Northern Flicker high up in a tree.

I only got two photos before it flew.

It is amazing how well birds can blend into their environment. I guess God planned it that way!:) I saw some daffodils blooming here yesterday and it really lifted my spirits. Spring is on the way.

Great bird photos! I especially like the Wood Thrush and the Flicker.
I looked in my bird book to see what a Yellow-Rumped Warbler looks like from the front and side - I might not be as lucky as you to get an easy ID!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Great sightings! Nothing but rain here, and I've had bronchitis for over a week and unable to get out. Hopefully soon.

What sweet birds!

That thrush certainly has some personality ... looks like he is giving you a little bit of an 'evil eye'! Out here, the animals are hunkered down since it is snowing non-stop. Due to get 6 - 12 inches!!!

Great bird photos--love all of them--
and yes I did get some different photos myself this week--at a Farmers Mkt--
and one of a very hairy top hat chicken--his hair on the top of his head was sooo long that he kept shaking his head to see where he was going--(or she??)
the photo did not come really well--but is in my Di's workbasket site--
happy photo hunting this week--di

I've chased a thrush for days, but he is too illusive. I had to laugh at the warbler. He wanted to make sure you were able to identify him. :)

That sweet little Wood Thrush is so cute with its long legs. And the Yellow Warbler is a pretty one too. Haven't seen anything unusual lately. It's still very cold here, and the birds should be coming around soon. Oh, I DID notice the pink blossom trees already coming out in my town. : )

Have a lovely week ahead, Diane.

Great photos. I really like the little thrush. No unusual birds this week but I'm hoping to see a few more birds as it slowly inches closer to spring.

Such beautiful birds, Diane! I have mainly seen the usual magpies, blackbirds, and cute little chickadees this winter. I was excited to see a redheaded downy woodpecker for a few moments this week.

I have never seen a Wood Thrush down here in south Florida. I'm sure that some come through or fly over us at night, but will keep my eyes open this spring.

Wow! I'm grateful to see your pictures and must confess a little envious! Wonderful. (And the easy ID pic of the warbler made me laugh!)
