This is an event like no other! Some of the ongoing demonstrations are Native American Basket Weaving, Seminole Canoe Carving, Prehistoric Shell Tool Making, with Tomahawk throwing, Indian Drumming and Scavenger Hunts!
In other words…FUN for the entire family!
We spent the afternoon looking at the exhibits and neat things for sale. Enjoying the music of a flute and watching demonstrations.
Oh and did I mention shopping? Our anniversary is coming up in a couple of weeks and I think hubby has it covered! I got some vintage Navajo jewelry that I LOVE! (I’ll share pics of my treasures soon…thanks hubby)
So much to see! Old Florida!
We had a wonderful afternoon at the Silver Springs State Park and even saw one of the old glass bottomed boats on display.
There was a cute wooden painting that I made into a blog banner.
It was in the mid 80s with bright sunshine.
(a Vendor we bought from….look what the sunshine does to my hair! it turns it SILVER! hahahahaha)
A perfect day in Florida!
Did you have a good weekend?
I’m joining Mosaic Monday HERE

Now, that looked like fun. And, what a delightful header you made out of that picture!
phun outing :)
Love the banner and what a fun event! I would have loved that as I love history not of battles but of towns and communities and Old Florida! I can't wait to see what hubby got you!
I would definitely choose YOUR weekend with that gorgeous weather to wander around in!! How sweet is that hubby of yours? We had more snow but now we are in a warming trend with rain for next few days. I'll take the rain over the snow!
What an event! It's good to see First Nations educating all.
I love your wood thrush. I've flushed them out, but I'm too slow for photos !!!!
I'll just bet that was great fun! I've been to a powwow and there was dancing and crafts, et. al. and it was great fun. Thank you for sharing! Wishing you well!
I love events like this. There really is something for everyone. Can't wait to see your jewelry! I was wondering about your great header -- kept reading and now I know. Fun! Happy Monday!
when I was a child through teens, we rode in those old wooden boats, and then later in the newer ones, and once in the 80's in the newest. 301 through Ocala has been the path we drove since i was born in 1944 and still do. Mother was born here in Palmetto and I was born in Savannah, several times a year for my whole life we drove up and down 301. the most fun was Six Gun Territory which was across the street from Silver springs. it had a steam train and a western village with and indian village also. and gunfights in the street.
Looks like an interesting, fun place. A great time to enjoy the outdoors down there. I love your new header--so cute!
Thanks for sharing your perfect day. I like an evet like this with lots to offer. I smiled at the comment of the sun on your hair. I always seem to fade out in photos because of the light hitting my hair. Same for our sweet Sadie with her top knot of light hair. Happy Mosaic Monday!
I love fairs and events like this. What fun to see the old crafts and buy some new crafts!! Can't wait to see you new jewelry you silver haired beauty! Hugs!
That looks like a lot of fun . . . I remember my folks talking about the glass bottom boats. They loved going to Florida in the winter.
What a great way to spend a day! - I've heard of glass bottom boats, never experienced it.
This looks like loads of fun! Is that your new jewelry you are wearing in that photo? It looks great!
We used to LOVE Silver Springs and rode on those glass bottom boats many times. Then it all changed. Sad. It looks like you had a great time there! We should have gone there instead of the Greek Festival that was such a bust here. Can't wait to see your anniversary gift!!
I would love to go to this and my boys would too. I am looking forward to seeing your jewelry.
I actually think that looks like one of the boats I used to go on back in the 70s. Where you looked down through a center piece of glass. It looks like you had a good time and it will be fun to see your new jewelry! xo Diana
How fun! It was a gorgeous weekend.
Oh I love to go to places like that. Sounds like you had a great time.
We often go to these types of events (in the summer, of course!) and I always end up buying a CD of music made with wooden flutes and other Native Indian instruments. I find them incredibly soothing.
We love stuff like this!---looks like so much fun! You and I both had busy weekends! I love seeing all the demonstrations and seeing what all is for sale! We went to Silver Glen when we visited once, is that the same place or different? I've seen pictures of the old glass bottom boats while reading up on my favorites--the Weeki Wachee Mermaids--and all the "old Florida" road side attractions. It's a world long gone, but it was so wonderful--that time and that place. Love the cute picture of you by the table!
We did have a good weekend, thanks for asking, but nowhere near as interesting and fun as yours. You are really rocking that silver hair. Girls born in 1950 have style! Looking forward to seeing your anniversary gift.
I wish I could join you, Diane, I love the craftsmanship and the sense of history.
