Butterflies, Bumble Bees and Birds

We have all three 'Bs' for this post!

Even a Blue Grosbeak!

We were astonished to see not one.....

not two.....

but THREE Blue Grosbeaks when we hiked Halpata Tastanaki Preserve from the Pruitt trailhead.

Two of them were close together, across the trail from each other and the other one was in the parking area.

And this bumble bee was busy on the Horsemint.

It's butterfly season here in Florida now too.

Lots of beautiful wildflowers attracting the Gulf Fritillary.

I was 'chasing butterflies'....

literally!

Isn't this White Peacock gorgeous?

I love the soft colors of this pretty butterfly.

A good day to be out on the trails.
Have you had a chance to get outside this week?

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Your Blue Grosbeak is outstanding. It has been a long time since I last saw one and it is unlikely to happen where I live.

Those are gorgeous butterflies. See an occasional monarch here in NH but they don't keep still enough to photo.

Diane, I laughed about you chasing butterflies. I too have ran along the ditch across the road to get photos. LOL. I did not know Grosbecks could be blue...so pretty. Good sightings on your hike. Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie

I love that blue bird. We do not see many of them around here. I always enjoy seeing photos of butterflies. My sis in law, Amy, who lives in the Florida Keys takes butterfly photos as a hobby.

You and some other photographers are convincing me that I should pay more attention to butterflies. They are really colorful and varied if you focus your mind on learning about them, as you seem to have done.

I go hiking with you, here! There are days I don't even get out of the house. Pathetic. I am pathetic. When it cools down, that will change! Beautiful photos - always!

I've never seen a blue grosbeak, Diane. Beautiful! And the butterflies are lovely. They are so magical and just make me happy. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

I've never seen a Blue Grosbeak or a White peacock butterfly! Gorgeous, both of them! What a treat!! I haven't seen many birds lately. It just seems to be too hot for them as well as for me. We have our usual Blue Jays and Cardinals and Titmice and Chickadees at our feeder. But it's too hot for me to go outside and try to take pictures. Praying for a change in the weather SOON. I noticed the humidity was lower tonight, so that gives me hope!!

Beautiful Butterflies----well are shots are great but I do love the Butterfly.
Thank you for your comment on my post: The horses name is Beep because the blaze on her face is a perfect silhouette of The Road Runner who goes Beep Beep. I have a pic to show you cannot post it here.

It must be migration time for Blue Grosbeaks, just like many species. Lots of birds travel in twos and threes in the autumn and they may well be members of the same family.

Your butterflies are so beautiful and varied. Thanks for the pics Diane.

All grosbeaks were scarce here, this Soring so your "blues" were such a special treat!
Thank you, as always, for taking time from your day to share your bird sightings this week with us. Much appreciated!

Lucky sightings on the Grosbeaks.......wow, three in one day! Love all the pretty butterfly pictures, they must fly and flutter earlier there than here.......I've only spotted one so far.Hope your holiday weekend is going great, do y'all have plans? We are hanging around the house, taking drives instead of walks most days til the heat breaks. THERE ARE ALOT OF people here for the weekend, the city is SWAMPED!! How bout there? Last trip of the summer and all I guess. Once this is over, our beaches and streets will once again be peaceful and quiet. I don't mind the tourists, they are good for our businesses and all......I just prefer the quiet, LOL! Well, if y'all hike this weekend, please take lots of water ok? Hugs!

I am loving this post! There is a special place in my heart for butterflies as my family and friends know well. The bee picture is good too. How lucky to see all those grosbeaks. OK. I think I will have to go outside now.

Those orange butterflies are sooooo pretty. I see yellow ones around here all the time, and once in awhile I will see a white one fluttering about, and when I do, I stop and gaze at it for awhile. The White Peacock is very unique too. What a beauty. You are taking awesome photos with your new camera, Diane.
